Ruby WhiteTips American Horror Story Collection Swatches: Rubber Man Thermal Polish

Ruby White Tips Rubber Man (3 coats) Left-Cold Right-Warm

*These polishes were purchased at a discount and I only give honest reviews*

Hi guys, I hope you are gearing up for a great weekend. I have no idea what is in store for me, but hopefully it is relaxing. I have a few more polishes from the Ruby White Tips brand. All of them come from the American Horror Story collection, and I have to be honest, I don't watch the show. My husband isn't a huge fan of horror, so you can imagine he doesn't like this show. Anyway, I have no idea what Rubber Man references, but it's an awesome jelly thermal polish that changes from a deep brown when cold and a reddish brown when warm. You can also get this one with or without glitter; of course I had to get glitter. I found the formula to be a bit thick, but that is the norm for indies since they have to keep the glitter suspended. I added a couple drops of thinner and I was good to go. I used three coats just because it's a jelly, but since the ends of my nails are always cold, they were dark brown and you couldn't see VLN anyway!

You can Ruby White Tips on their Etsy storeFacebookTwitter or Instagram @rubywhitetips.

Wordless Wednesday Nibs & Nails: Jessica Cosmetics Starfish Glow & Lamy Safari

*press sample*

Hey folks,
My husband and I both have blogs, and Elaine at JetPens suggested that we combine our powers for a weekly feature. Well, here it is! Nibs & Nails will generally be part of the Wordless Wednesday blog-trend, but I want to introduce the feature this time. If you like pens, ink or office supplies, go see Inkdependence. From now on, I hope to show polishes that I either blogged about a long time ago and the swatches suck, or any just random one I don't feel like fully reviewing (unlike today which I will eventually review). This is Jessica Starfish Glow from the Spring 2014 collection on the nails, and my turquoise Lamy Safari. It was my first fountain pen, and it's what my husband used to hook me on these fantastic things.

Maybelline Color Show Street Art Collection: Green Graffiti

Maybelline Green Graffiti (2 coats) over 2 coats Sation Chatty Catty

While at my local Walmart (I hate them), I found the Street Art collection from the Maybelline Color Show line in the permanent display. I'm not 100% if they are actually permanent (I think they are), but they feature fun glitters such as Green Graffiti shown here over Sation. It's a lime green and black glitter with small and large hexagonal glitters and only green, short bar glitters. I found the glitter density to be pretty good with 2 coats shown here. These things are cheap, so I definitely recommend them if you can find them in the permanent display.

Sation Class of Sation 2012 Collection Swatch: Chatty Catty

Sation Chatty Catty (2 coats)

I can't believe I've never reviewed a Sation polish before! I bought one of their polishes in the old bottle, and I didn't even bother swatching it. Boy, did they step up their game with a host of new polishes and a new and improved bottle which is more of an oval shape. The color I have today is a bit older, but it's a gorgeous neon coral color. In some lights it is more pink, but in others it definitely has orange tones. Since it is neon, it dries down satin so I used a topcoat for the pictures. The formula and application was just fine (I was expecting it to be sheer, but it is a nice creme) and only needed 2 coats. You can find the new bottles and collections at Transdesign and they will set you back $4.50 each. If you want the old polishes, you can still get those for only $1.69!

Morgan Taylor Holiday 2013 Royal Life Collection Swatches: Sapphires, Rubies, and Emeralds Oh My and To Rule, Or Not To Rule

Morgan Taylor Sapphires, Rubies, and Emeralds Oh My (2 coats)

Morgan Taylor To Rule, Or Not To Rule (2 coats)

*press samples*

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I had a ridiculously long day at work and had no time to blog. And today, I've been full of anxiety attacks. I'll be honest: I have GAD (General Anxiety Disorder). This is really hard to deal with sometimes. Many days I'm fine, other days I'm a wreck. Today, I was a wreck. Why am I telling you this? I have absolutely no idea. Maybe it's to see if anyone else has this disorder. Maybe it's just to get it out in the air. I dunno.

Morgan Taylor probably won't be happy with me starting the blog post like this, but that's just the way it has to be. I'm ending on some of my favorite polishes of the collection and that's Sapphires, Rubies, and Emeralds Oh My. It's a purple base with tons of gold, pink, blue glitters (actually I think I'm missing a few colors). In the promo I had no idea what to expect from this polish. Well, it's a really awesome glitter polish that is opaque in 2 thick coats. If you're going to get some of these, make sure to pick this one up.

The second polish is To Rule, Or Not To Rule which is a garnet base with magenta glitter (both big and small). I can't really decide if this is more purple or pink. Either way, it's awesome. The application was the same as Sapphires, Rubies, and Emeralds Oh My and only needed 2 coats. Well, that's the collection. You basically need all of them.

You can find Morgan Taylor polishes at professional beauty stores (e.g. Cosmoprof) and salons nationwide for $8.50. I looked at their website and it seems like you can order directly from them, but I don't know if you have to be a professional or not to order. It's worth a shot though.

Morgan Taylor Holiday 2013 Royal Life Collection: Fit For a Queen and Wrapped in Riches

Morgan Taylor Fit For a Queen (2 coats)

Morgan Taylor Wrapped in Riches (2 coats)

*press samples*

Let me tell you, work has been giving it to me hard lately. It just seems like nothing is going right. Nothing! Hopefully things can work tomorrow and I'll be back on track.

On a lighter note, I have 2 more of the 6 piece Morgan Taylor collection which all contain glitters. Up first tonight is Fit for a Queen which is a ruby red jelly with red glitter. I thought this one was going to have a clear base, but I was happily surprised it wasn't and only needed 2 thick coats for full coverage. The second polish is called Wrapped in Riches which is a teal jelly with teal, green and some purple glitter. So beautiful! I'm not going to say it's my favorite of the collection, but it's right up there. The formula and application was the same as Fit For a Queen.

You can find Morgan Taylor polishes at professional beauty stores (e.g. Cosmoprof) and salons nationwide for $8.50. I looked at their website and it seems like you can order directly from them, but I don't know if you have to be a professional or not to order. It's worth a shot though.

Morgan Taylor Holiday 2013 Royal Life Collection Swatches: Where's My Crown and Regal as a Royal

Morgan Taylor Where's My Crown? (3 coats)

Morgan Taylor Regal as a Royal (2 coats)

*press samples*

Today I have the Morgan Taylor Holiday 2013 Royal Life Collection to show you. Better late than never, right? The first one I have to show is actually my least favorite of the collection, but that's just because that it has a clear base so I had to use 3 coats to get full coverage. Where's My Crown is a gold that has some brown hues to it. I don't know how else to describe it. It's definitely not your normal bright gold for the holidays.

The second polish is called Regal as a Royal and is a beautiful sapphire blue jelly with various size glitters. This thing was so gorgeous on the nail. It does have a royal feeling to it, and I'm happy to report that I didn't have any staining (although all of these likely need the foil method to remove). The application on both were on the thick side, but this was actually a good thing since these are so jam packed with glitter you need fewer coats. So far I'm happy with the collection. You can find Morgan Taylor polishes at professional beauty stores (e.g. Cosmoprof) and salons nationwide for $8.50. I looked at their website and it seems like you can order directly from them, but I don't know if you have to be a professional or not to order. It's worth a shot though.

OPI Spring 2014 Brazil Collection Swatches: Next Stop...The Bikini Zone

OPI Next Stop...The Bikini Zone (3 coats)

OPI Next Stop...The Bikini Zone is the last Brazil collection polish I have to show, and it's unfortunately my least favorite. Oh, and forget about the pervy name. Maybe it's just the basecoat and topcoat I used, but I just could not get this polish to smooth out. I had to redo about 4 nails because I would get so.much.dragging. I tried to use thin coats, but it doesn't help that it was a bit thick to begin with. Anyway, it's a duochrome of purple and grey so I really wanted to love it, but the application just ruined it for me. I'm going to try again after thinning it out some and using a different base and topcoat mix to see if that helps. I hope you're having a great President's Day if you're in the US. I had to work today, hence the late post.

OPI Spring 2014 Brazil Collection Swatches: Live.Love.Carnaval and OPI Scores a Goal!

 OPI Live.Love.Carnaval (2 coats)

OPI Scores a Goal! (2 coats)

If you are interested in seeing some of my swatches before I blog them, check out my Instagram and Twitter pages for previews (they're both @rightonthenail). Unlike some people, I don't post like crazy, and you get to see some polishes (and maybe a couple cats once in awhile...I know, I can't help myself). Do you love nails and post nail stuff? If so, let me know so I can follow you!

I have 3 more polishes from the Brazil collection to show you (again, I skipped the less unique or neutral colors, despite thinking they looked great as well). The two that I have today are very different, but lovely nonetheless. Up first is Live.Love.Carnaval which is a name that I actually don't hate! Hooray! That has to be a first. It's a coral creme that leans more red than the other corals in the collection. I really liked this one, and I found that many others did, too. The second polish I have to show is an interesting raisin red/brown creme that is so weird. So weird and I love it so much! It looked more brown on my darker-skinned friend, while it looked more raisin color on me. This is one that either you love it or hate it, but I think it's interesting. Both had perfect application and formula which only needed 2 coats.

Valentine's Day Manicure

Verity Valentine (2 coats) over 2 coats Jamberry Cardinal

Happy Valentine's Day and I hope you are having a happy start to the weekend! I just have a quick manicure to show you. I already posted Jamberry's Cardinal, but I decided to add a polish called Valentine (how appropriate) from a brand called Verity. You may have never heard of Verity because, until recently, I hadn't either. I found it at my local beauty supply store and they all go for $1.50! How could I resist? It has pink hearts with smaller red and silver square and hexagonal glitter. I found it was really easy to get the hearts out, but the dab method was definitely the way to go. Overall, I really liked this manicure, and despite it not being true "nail art," I found it was a whimsical mix for this day. I did a quick Google search of Verity and you can find some polishes, but they seem to go for a bit more money. Check some random beauty supply stores in your area to see if they have them. If not, check them out online at Beauty Clutch. Has anyone used this store? They seem legit and they have good prices.

LeChat Dare To Wear Valentine's Day 2013 Sweet Love Collection Swatches: XOXO and Sweetheart

LeChat Dare to Wear XOXO (2 coats)

LeChat Dare to Wear Sweetheart (2 coats)

Whoa, there's so much snow here and it's still snowing. We haven't had anything like this in years. Stay warm east coast!

We're going to take a quick reprieve from the Brazil Collection to show a few Valentine's Day manicures I did the past few weeks. Today I have a brand that can be hard to find, but you can get the polishes I'm showing today at nailsupply.us for only $3, so check them out. Up first is XOXO which is a bright tomato red with glitter thrown in. The glitter really sinks in to the polish which adds a lot of depth to it. The second polish is called Sweetheart and it is so neon and sparkly that it was making my camera go crazy. Just look at this baby! Unlike the glitter in XOXO, the glitter really comes out and is holographic in Sweetheart. Both were thick enough to only need 2 coats which is amazing. I recommend both, especially since they are only $3. Go check them out now.

OPI Spring 2014 Brazil Collection Swatches: Toucan Do It If You Try and Where Did Suzi's Man-go?

OPI Toucan Do It If You Try (2 coats)

OPI Where Did Suzi's Man-go? (2 coats with Sally Hansen Nail Art Rhinestones)

Oh man, it's definitely Snowpocalypse 2014 for real this time. We're supposed to get up to a foot of snow and ice here in central North Carolina. North Carolina!! Wish us luck because people down here don't really know how to deal with these situations. Since I grew up in northwest Ohio, I know all about heavy lake effect snows so this kind of accumulation would be like Thursday for us. Either way, if you're getting this, I hope you are safe.

I have 2 of the 3 corals to show today and I wanted to show these together so you can get a sense of how different they are. Up first is Toucan Do It If You Try which is more of a red based coral creme. Very flattering for lots of skintones. Where Did Suzi's Man-go? is more of a cantaloupe melon creme. I've heard it from many other bloggers, and I have to agree with them that this is my favorite of the collection. I don't have anything quite like it, and if you can only get 1 polish from the collection, I would recommend this one. The formula and application were awesome for both polishes in only 2 coats.

I also won some nail art supplies from the new Sally Hansen I Love Nail Art sets from the #nailglossip which has bloggers from Kellie Gonzo, All Lacquered Up and The Polishaholic tweeting with us every 2 weeks. It was such a blast talking to them about nails and Sally Hansen sponsors giveaways throughout the tweet fest. I was lucky enough to win one and I received 2 polishes which I'll show shortly, and 2 nail art sets (one that has the rhinestones you see above). Again, I'm trying to do more nail art, mostly which are fails, but at least I'm trying!
