Turtle Tootsie Polishes Ice Cream Makes Everything Better Swatches and Review: Chocolate Chip Mint

Turtle Tootsie Polishes Chocolate Chip Mint (3 coats)

Hi guys! Unfortunately I didn't have the time tonight to do the post I originally planned on doing, but at least I'm able to do something. The Ice Cream Makes Everything Better (so true, right?) collection from Turtle Tootsie Polishes was released during The Indie Shop and I was able to snag Chocolate Chip Mint. To be honest, when I saw the polish sitting there on the rack I thought it looked like kelp. That may sound like an insult, but it's what drew me in and it's so interesting!

Chocolate Chip Mint is a light mint crelly with matte black flakes, chameleon flakies, and a holo finish. I didn't get a chance to take a picture in direct daylight LED lighting so the holo finish is a bit muted in my photos above. I really love this one, and I know for a fact that I don't have anything like it in my collection. I used 3 thin coats for the photos above to add some dimension and depth to the flakes. The formula was perfect; you just need to make sure that the flakes don't extend over the nail.

This and the rest of the Ice Cream collection is currently for sale on the Turtle Tootsie Polishes website for $6 (mini) or $10 (full-size).  To learn more about Turtle Tootsie Polishes, stop by their website, Instagram page, or Facebook Fan Group.

Sally Hansen Moisture Rehab Strengthener Review

*press sample*

Do you like to walk around Walgreens or CVS just to look at new beauty products? I'm totally guilty of this. In terms of drugstore nail polishes/treatments, Sally Hansen is a huge player. They have multiple treatments for nails and cuticles, but how do you know which one will work best? That's why I find blog reviews so helpful! My nails have been a little fragile lately, with some peeling and hangnails. I blame winter for the hangnails, but my nails tend to be in the peeling state most of the time. Part of it has to do with my job, but the other has to do with all the acetone I put on my nails. When I was asked to review Sally Hansen's new Moisture Rehab Strengthener, I was admittedly dubious. Was this really going to help?

Let's first talk a little about the ingredients. This is what Sally Hansen has to say about the Moisture Rehab:

This moisturizing treatment work wonders for skin and hair, and now nails and cuticles can benefit from the rejuvenating results. Introducing Sally Hansen Moisture Rehab, our first overnight nail serum that contains moisture and nutrient rich extracts for intense nail and cuticle restoration. This brush-on, luxurious formula, featuring a blend of black orchid, açai and algae actives and humectants, helps hydrate and rejuvenate severely dry or weak nails. The lightweight, serum formula leaves nails ready for rest and repair, so you can awaken to stronger, replenished and healthier-looking nails and cuticles.

As you can see, it's more of a gel consistency than an oil which surprised me. Most cuticle products which claim to moisturize are oils that take forever and a day to sink in. Being a gel, it soaks in quickly and you don't need to massage it in for too long. They recommend using it at night, but you could likely use it at other times during the day because it doesn't make your hands oily. It has a light, nondescript floral fragrance that I like. If you are especially sensitive to fragrance, this may bother you a bit, but I doubt it. But the question of the hour is, does it work?

It's a resounding yes! Immediately after application, my cuticles were soft and moisturized. I should also mention that they recommend applying this to bare nails, but I never have bare nails. I brushed the product straight on my cuticles, and I could definitely see results. While I liked what it temporarily did for my cuticles, I like what it did for my nails even more. I've used this daily for over a month and my nails have no more peels and are overall much stronger/healthier. I really can't believe how much of a difference this has made for me. I've already decided to buy another bottle so I never run out. This week all Sally Hansen products are buy 1 get 1 50% off at Ulta, so I might stop there this weekend. It retails around $9-$10 depending on where you buy it, so wait for a sale to stock up.

My Indie Shop: Atlanta Recap Part V

Hi guys! Tonight is my last post on the Indie Shop Atlanta (finally). I wasn't able to make it to every table, so you won't be seeing everything from the show, but I did my best in the time allotted. I purchased the Early Admission tickets and was able to get in around 10:00 AM, which gave me ~5 hours for shopping and schmoozing. While that sounds like a lot, it really wasn't. There were lines at most of the tables, and time just flew by. I'm not going to Polish Con in April because I'll be working at a pen show in Atlanta for my job. I really wish I could make it to that one!

Turtle Tootsie Polish

Turtle Tootsie Polishes had a wide variety of products on their table from polishes, bath and body, and treatments. Their was a LE trio for sale and you can see it in the very middle rack above. It's still for sale on their site if you are interested in getting it! They also debuted their Spring Collection called Ice Cream Makes Everything Better which is on the far left rack above. I bought Chocolate Chip Mint because it reminded me of kelp (I promise, it's a compliment).

Ribbits Stickits had a cute frog on their banner, and Turtle Tootsie had a turtle. Cuteness overload!

These are called Adult Files. Look closely, you'll see why. Haha!

This is the Bracelets Collection which feature holographic microglitters.

Nail wheel swatches of the Bracelets Collection. So much bling!

I am a bath and body product junkie. I've tried lots of sugar scrubs from brands like Moonalisa, Cocoa Pink, and Mad City Sue. I'm always on the lookout for a new scrub so I bought one of these in the scent cherry blossom. This one has a foaming base (which I prefer) with kaolin clay and 2 types of sugar. I can't wait to use it!

Pens! I love when brands give away pens.

Chrissy and Kim were so friendly! They are definitely a brand I will be purchasing more from.

I thought I had pictures of the table from Dainty Digits Polish, but my husband and I were having too much fun talking with Anetress. I had no idea she is a nail tech! I think it's great that she works with both clients and DIYers. They have some stock left from the show and the overstock is on sale on their website so check it out. I bought a ton of polishes before going to their table so I was most interested in their quick-dry topcoat and Glitter Be Gone. I'm always looking for new ways to swatch quickly and I think this will be just the ticket. I'm currently using UNT peel off basecoat and it just take a little too long to dry. Anetress really seemed to listen to her swatchers when formulating this product to dry quickly and not pull any layers away from the nail bed (which leads to nails peeling later on).

Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to stop by the Chaotic Glitz Polish table (they shared with Dainty Digits Polish). They have a new collection releasing this Saturday, so stop by the site then.

This was as close as I got to the Pampered Polishes table. I believe I was talking with Miranda from Ever After when my husband took this picture. Timberlin had several show exclusives, but they must have sold out of them because I don't see them on their Etsy site. Has anyone tried them? Any polish recommendations?

My husband must have been a creeper again taking a picture of the Jior Couture table. This is another brand I've been meaning to try and I hear they do great custom polishes. I should have her do a Nibs & Nails polish! Oh, I can't wait! I'm also taking polish recommendations for Jior Couture. They have their Whimsically Indie Set for sale right now, and if you join their Facebook Fan Group, they have a discount code available.

And there you have it. I had a great time at the show, and I hope they bring the show back to Atlanta next year. How about I leave you with a picture of my haul?

My Indie Shop: Atlanta Recap Part IV

Hi guys! I hope you've having a fun weekend, and also had a great St. Patrick's Day. I didn't do anything special (for nails or in life), but I hope you were able to enjoy your day. Tonight I have the fourth installment of my recap. and it will feature Ever After Polish, Envy Lacquer, and Joy Lacquer.

Ever After Polish

I had to do a little waiting before getting to the Ever After table, but I was able to meet this super sweet woman in front of me. I didn't get her name, but if you're reading this, we should chat some more!

I didn't catch the names of the 2 helpers at the table, but I easily recognized Miranda (on the right) from her posts on the Ever After Facebook Group

There were several special polishes for the event. At the top in the basket we have Dark Forest, Peach Fuzz (the one I bought), and Woodland Nymph (from left to right in the basket). There was also a polish named Rolling with my Gnomies which was named by Miranda (love it) and the dark blue is Enchanted Brook.

Miranda mostly makes the bath and body products for Ever After, and one of the most popular products would definitely be their cuticle crellies. I've used them off and on for a few years, and knew I had to get at least one of them at the show. The spring scents debuted at the show, and you can get them on their website right now. The scents include Blackberry Magnolia (the one I purchased), Georgia Peach, Twisted Ice Tea, Raspberry Vanilla, and Southern Breezes. I can tell you that Blackberry Magnolia is a really nice mix of fruity and floral. One side never overwhelms the other. In  other words, I love it!

Tonic Nail Polish and Ever After had a quartet which released several weeks ago and they had them for sale at the show. I should have bought it, but it's just another thing I regret not getting.

Another closeup of Rolling with my Gnomies.

They had plenty of Magically Delicious for sale at the show. Look at all those flakies!

Ever After also sells their own topcoat and basecoat which they had for sale. I didn't know they ventured into wax melts, but I can't wait to try them. There aren't a ton of indie nail polish brands making melts besides Heather's Hues, Vapid Lacquer, and Lou It Yourself (that I know of).

The pink polishes are Popular, and the blue is Unicorn Approved 2. I love the Easter theme here.

After taking to Miranda for awhile, I found out that she is mixing a few of the polishes now. For example, this beauty came from her and is a Mardi Gras themed color named Leissez Les Bon Temps Rouler (Cajun French for "Let the good times roll" ...Google is my friend).

Here I am with the beautiful Miranda. I was loving the leggings she was sporting that day. Lularoe was representing that day.

Mike sneaked in a picture while there was nobody at the Joy Lacquer table. I have no idea how that happened.

Joy Lacquer released the Enchanted Forest Trio shown above for the show. They were about sold out by the time I made it to the table. It seems as though there are still a few available on the Joy Lacquer website, if you are interested.

Her table had tons of polishes as well as some other nail-related products and treatments. There were glass nail files, balms, whips, and oils.

The bottom containers had thermal polishes with photos showing the transition which I thought was a great idea.

She let you thumb through all of her swatcher photos so you could see them in the warm and cold state.

One lonely, random polish.

My husband and I were enjoying the beach theme. Crabs and starfish oh my!

The Sugar High Spring Collection debuted at the show and contained 5 polishes and a topper.

Joy was indeed a joy to talk to! Her daughter, Josie, was there to lend a helping hand as well. I got to the table later in the day, and she was completely over being there. I was a kid once, so I get it. She was super cute though.

If you look in front of Joy you can see a few large dice. If you spent over a certain amount you could roll  a die to win an item. I ended up winning a glass nail file which I plan on gifting to a friend (she just learned how great glass files are).

In case you didn't know, Melody is the woman behind Envy Lacquer and was in charge of the show itself. I can imagine it was a lot of work, so congrats to her for making a successful show for all.

The Envy table was enchanting, indeed. I didn't get the name of the guy behind the table, but he was really nice and enthusiastic.

There was 1 special edition polish which  I didn't get the name of. I'll update this when I get it. It was a nice white color with a scattered holo finish, if my memory is correct.

The Enchanted Forest Fairies Collection debuted at the show and is available on their site. That pink is really calling my name right now.

They also had the Galaxy Collection for sale.

This one was really calling my name.

Their handmade soap was so pretty. It looks to be glycerin-based, but I could be wrong. They smelled divine, and had various scents available. I wasn't able to get a picture with Melody, but it's safe to bet that she was insanely busy.

I believe I'm getting towards the end of my pictures. I still have Dainty Digits and Turtle Tootsie Polishes to show you so please stay tuned for that. There were a few tables I didn't have time to get to, so if I don't show every vendor there, that's why. As always, thanks for reading!
