Oh yes, 2012 is the year of the flakies. I still haven't bought any of the Zoya ones yet, but I can't wait to get my paws on those, too. Finger Paints has a set of 5 different flakie polishes for your pleasure. Each bottle is a different color, but Twisted is the one with a rainbow of colors. This is by far the most vibrant flake polish I've owned. Usually there are a couple colors of flakes, but this one has them all. I've found that the these look best on dark polishes, but if you want something really subtle, they work fine on light colors as well. The flakes weren't really densely packed so I used 2 coats on the swatch. These were released last month at Sally's Beauty Supply so check for these ASAP. Apparently some stores have sold out of them, but my city isn't full of nail fanatics so there are still some left. Enjoy!

SinfulColors Holiday 2011 Wish Collection: Last Chance

Can you believe this is one coat of a drugstore polish?! Just look how gorgeous it is! Last Chance is a deep emerald green creme that I think lots of people would enjoy. As well as being extremely pigmented, it had a really nice formula as well (probably the best of the collection). The only downfall is that when I removed it from my nails, it stained my cuticles and the skin around my nails. I always wear 1 coat of basecoat and 1 layer of Gelous before applying polish so it didn't really have a chance to stain my nails, thank goodness. Overall, I love this one. Definitely check out your local stores to see if they have this one in stock.

On a different note, have you heard that Wet N Wild is coming out with a new collection exclusive to CVS called Spoiled Nail Color? Not only that, it will contain 72 new polish colors! Has anyone seen these at their local store yet? I stopped by my crappy store and they didn't have it.

Why does Sunday have to come so fast when the week drags by? I had a pretty relaxing weekend and didn't do anything really big. I've started up Chinese Food Sunday again because this really good place opened up near us. Of course, we also have Pizza Friday which can be delivered, frozen or made fresh depending on what we feel like. Do you have any food rituals, or do I need to feel like a weirdo?

Moving right along through the SinfulColors Wish Collection is Sugar Sugar which is a shimmery red color. Nothing mindblowing, but a lot of people are into this type of color, especially around the holidays. The application was just ok because I found it a bit thin and got a little pooling while applying. It was nothing serious, but I thought I'd mention it. Overall, it's a nice red color for the price point.

Guess who's going to see Van Halen in April? This girl! I was a big fan growing up, and I've always liked David Lee Roth Van Halen better than Sammy Hagar Van Halen. Man, maybe I just haven't been to concerts in awhile, but tickets are crazy expensive! I think the worst part is the extra "fees" that are tacked on there. Oh well, I'm still excited! Let's see if they can make it that long without breaking up again.

Remember when I posted SinfulColors Out of this World a couple days ago? Well, A Polished Touched made a helpful comment about how well it is as a layering polish over other colors. I haven't tried it yet, but I think she's totally right. I decided to use Color Club's Wish Upon a Rock Star to cover up the nail lines using it as a gradient. It is a multi-color hexagonal glitter polish with larger lavender glitter pieces that looks a lot like the other Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday dupes. It applied much better than the other Backstage Pass glitters so it has that going for it. It's not really unique, but it's still a fun glitter polish (that is still a pain to take off!).

I am so happy I found the Icings magnetic nail polish last week! I've been dying to try these and found them at my local store. I bring this up because I am wearing one today and will have a post up about them as soon as I can. Have you heard that China Glaze is also coming out with magnetic polishes? It's the year of the flakies and magnetic polishes! The Polishaholic has swatches right here for your viewing pleasure.

And now I bring you my least favorite polish from the SinfulColors Wish collection called Out of This World. Yup, we have a sheer one. This is three coats and I still have a bad case of the visible nail line (VNL). If it wasn't so sheer, I think this would have made a really nice shimmery silver polish. The other problem I had was that the formula was really thin as well. Overall, I think the rest of the collection is much better than Out of This World and I would skip it.

Woo, I learned about a new instrument today called the atomic absorption spectrometer. While it isn't used quite as often since there has been an increase in the usage of the ICP-OES and ICP-MS, I'm still excited to learn how to use different pieces of equipment. This thing probably cost all the money and they trust me to use it! Eek! That's probably been the only exciting part of this Hump Day. How was your day?

I've been so far behind on swatching that I only now have the SinfulColors holiday collection to show. Oops! Just look how beautiful this deep blue shimmer is! It's really shocking that Midnight Blue is an inexpensive drugstore brand because I think it is gorgeous and had a great formula. I know some of you have an issue with some polishes from SinfulColors because they can be thin or a bit sheer, but I couldn't find anything wrong with this one. I haven't stopped by my local Walgreens lately so I don't know if these are still on display, but I can usually find the collections a few weeks after the fact. Happy Chinese New Year! I am lucky enough to have a Taiwanese office mate so I have been able learn learn a lot about Asian traditions and culture. Sometimes I even surprise him with my knowledge! I thought it would be nice to have a post displaying the red and gold colors.

Pure Ice is a company that I've seen exclusively at Walmart stores, which for me, is a bit of a downfall. I like to make my trips to Walmart few and far between and usually I am just looking at the cosmetics. The duo shown above will only set you back $6 for both which is a steal. The gold base color applied nicely, but I had to have 2 pretty thick coats for full coverage. Honestly, if you use the crackle on top, you don't need to worry too much about any visible nail line. I'm still a bit torn about crackle polishes. When they first came out I was so excited about them. Soon, every company had their own version and I got burnt out on them so quickly. Since it seems they've died out a bit, I have a little more appreciation for them now....but just a little bit. As far as crackle polishes go though, this was was really nice and had some unique crackling effects. Are you still into crackles?

Revlon Nail Polish: Whimsical

Oh Revlon Whimsical, you elusive little minx. It's definitely the 2012 Opulent Cloud. It took me plenty of trips to local drugstores and even a Bed Bath & Beyond with a Harmon's inside to find this little gem. In the end I found the last one at my local Ulta store. It is a dupe of Deborah Lippmann's Glitter in the Air which I do not own. As I don't like sheer polishes, I opted to layer this over Revlon Cloud which is a light lavender creme. I've seen some swatches where people put it over blue, but I think the sky blue hexagonal glitter stands out more with a different base. The glitter is pretty few and far between, so it was difficult to get the amount of glitter I wanted in two coats. I had to use lots of little strokes to keep them on, but I ended up getting some bubbles doing it this way.

Overall, I think the glitter was pretty, but I really wish it wasn't so sheer. Have you found this little gem yet?

I bought some new boots the other week and it was the first time in years I've worn boots. I don't know why because I love how they look on other people. Of course I buy them the winter where it's been 50-60s though! I love tucking my jeans into them to keep my legs and feet warmer, but I need to buy a pair of skinny jeans to stop any bunching at the bottom. I never wear skinny jeans so I don't know who has the best ones. Any suggestions for a skinny jean newb?

SinfulColors also jumped on the bandwagon of mushroom grey taupe polishes with Nirvana. I can't even count how many colors I have like this one, but it gets extra points for only being $1 or $2 at your local drugstore. The application was nothing to write home about, but it wasn't bad. If you don't have anything like this (which I doubt) I would recommend Nirvana to you. Otherwise, I'd spend my money on something more unique.

Color Club Backstage Pass Collection: Platinum Record

Holy crap this combination looks hideous and I'm almost too embarrassed to show it! When I looked in the bottle of Platinum Record, I thought some of the small hexagonal glitters were black, but, unfortunately it was straight silver. I dunno, this was just ok for me in all honesty. The application was pretty annoying and you had to use lots of small brush strokes to get any of the glitter to stick to the nail (and there was lots of dragging of glitter with it). I think you can find better glitter polishes from your local drugstore.

It's a well-kept secret that I've started getting into fountain pens recently. They just write so much better than other gel or ball point pens (and you look so much fancier doing it). I know this post isn't about nail polish, but I thought you guys could appreciate the awesome holographic glitter on this pen. I had heard some good reviews on this pen on a the Fountain Pen Network (yup, there's one of those) and I just couldn't beat it for $7.00 including shipping! So far I'm really liking it! I bought this on Ebay so make sure to check it out if you are interested in purchasing a nice fountain pen.

Julep Nail Polish: Kim

Did you enjoy your long weekend? There's nothing like a day off to go to Ulta to pick up some nail polishes, stop by to eat some Chinese food and finish up with watching Mad Men. Can you believe I had never seen an episode? I know, I know, lots of people recommended it, but I never got around to it. While at Ulta they had some Zoya, China Glaze, Piggy Polish and Revlon polishes on clearance. I ended up getting a mix of them for $15!

So far I'm really enjoying the Julep Maven program and their polishes. Prior to this, I had never tried their products (basically due to their high price), but the program really helps with this. Kim is a gunmetal grey color with a shimmer finish. I like it, I really do, but it's a pretty common color. You may already own something similar to this, so I wouldn't recommend purchasing it at full price. Again, for the Maven price, I'm happy I have it.

Julep Nail Polish: Trina

Has anyone seen the Canadian show Trailer Park Boys? My PhD advisor turned me on to the show (he's Canadian) and it is hilarious. Anyway, early in the show's existence, Ellen Page played Mr. Lahey's daughter and was named Treena. As soon as I saw Julep's Trina polish, it immediately made me think of the character and the show. Good times.

Anyway, how gorgeous is Trina? I got it as a part of their Julep Maven program, which, if you're going to buy any Julep polishes, is the most inexpensive way to go. It is a deep, shimmery eggplant purple that also has some flecks of blue in there. The application and formula was smooth and perfect with high opacity in 2 coats. I think lots of you out there would enjoy this one.

Did you know that Sinful Colors should actually be written SinfulColors? Weird, I know. I was specifically told from their PR that this is the case. You guys know I like budget friendly polishes and SinfulColors is one of my favorite drugstore brands. When the polishes are on sale at Walgreens for $0.99 I pick up as many colors as possible. I swear, I have to be about out of new polishes from them!

Folly is a bright pink creme that leans towards a jelly. Even though it has a bit of jellyness to it, it only needs 2 coats to be opaque. I like it, especially for the price!

Dr.'s Remedy Jolly & Joy Holiday 2011 Collection: Revive Ruby Red

Hola! I have the final polish from the Dr.'s Remedy Jolly & Joy collection to show you today. Overall, I feel they've finally started branching out into new finishes and colors so good for them! I'd even venture to say that this was their best collection yet.

In case you haven't noticed, red polishes are my least favorite. I don't think it's just because it's a "normal" or "safe" color because you guys know how much I love pink polishes. Despite my general dislike for the color red (you know I still love my glittery red polishes though!), I do like Revive Ruby Red because it is so dark and shimmery. From the name, I would have guessed they were going for a Wizard of Oz theme for this one, but it's definitely too dark compared to the real ruby slippers. As usual, the application and formula was superb, which would be expected for such an expensive polish (~$17).

Ulta3 Nail Polish from Australia: Precious

Have you ever had a polish forever and just never got around to swatching it? Well, I've had this gem for well over a year without touching it. Oops! Ulta3 polishes hail from Australia, so those of you in the US won't be able to find them unless you find someone to swap with (like I did). I've been to Australia once (to Brisbane) and the people there were just gorgeous! I mean seriously, every man and woman looks so chic and put together it made me sad about being lazy. Don't even get me started on the sexy accents, either!

Anyway, I digress. Precious is your run-of-the-mill gold shimmer polish that looks nice and applies like a dream. I'd have to say I have plenty of polishes that look just like it, so it doesn't win any points for originality, but it's still a nice polish. I hear that polishes are extremely expensive in Australia, so Ulta3 is popular for their inexpensive price point around $2 Australian.

Orly Happy Go Lucky Collection: Fresh

It's been awhile since I've posted an Orly polish, right? I'm not sure why because they always have some interesting polishes. I got a few at Sally's Beauty Supply before Christmas so there are more to show (I even found a Mineral Fx polish on clearance). Fresh comes from the Happy Go Lucky collection is a small one with 4 polishes. It is a bright lime green creme that is vivid, but definitely not neon. I like it, it's a really happy color. It was slightly thin, but very pigmented needing only 2 coats.

Julep Nail Polish: Christina

Dr.'s Remedy Jolly & Joy Holiday 2011 Collection: Serene Silver Glitter

Ugh, sorry for the lack of posts lately, but I've been sick the past few days. It's been 4 years since I've been sick so my time was coming. Hopefully I'll be back to normal in a few more days.

Dr.'s Remedy Serene Silver Glitter looks really patriotic if you look closely. While it generally appears silver, there is lots of red and blue in there as well to give it that 4th of July feeling. While I really like it, it doesn't really feel all that holiday-like to me. The glitter in the polish is just like the previous Dr.'s Remedy polish I reviewed and contained very fine glitter particles that became opaque with just 2 coats. I like it, but it's not my favorite Dr.'s Remedy color. As always, you can find Dr.'s Remedy on Twitter and their Facebook feeds.

Sally Hansen Gems Crush Collection: Big Money

Oh, how I love the Sally Hansen Gems Crush polishes! They do look similar to the China Glaze Eye Candy polishes, but I like how Sally Hansen can be easily found at drugstores. Big Money is a must-have polish. The fine gold glitter is really set off by the larger purple hexagonal glitter. There is just so much shine and bling to this polish! Like Cha-Ching, it was a little sheer and needed three coats for full opacity. Speaking of Cha-Ching, did any of you notice that I accidentally typed Cha-China in the title for it? When I finally noticed it, my husband and I had quite the laugh.

If you don't have this one, go out to your local drugstore and pick up this gem!

Woo, it's New Year's Eve! Are you out partying tonight, or are you staying in like I always do? I thought a shazam polish was in order, so I decided to add a few coats of Backstage Pass to another Color Club polish. Boy, is this purple and silver hexagonal glitter topcoat striking on the nail! It's a bit gaudy, but I sort of love it. It definitely seems appropriate for a New Year's Eve party. The application of it was a bit annoying, however. I had to use many small strokes to place the glitter on there without immediately pulling them off. Also, you will need to use a few layers of topcoat if you don't like the uneven surface.

I just got back from Texas! I honestly thought I'd get to blog more often, but I was on the go every day! I had a great holiday and I'll get to see my family next weekend.

Despite Christmas being over, there's no reason to stop the holiday polishes. I've been waiting for Dr.'s Remedy to come out with glitter polishes, and they obliged this season. They call is Resolution Red Glitter, but it looks a bit more pink when you put that much silver glitter in there. I was worried it was going to be sheer, but they did a wonderful job adding enough small glitter that I only needed 2 coats. I'm really glad they're starting to branch out into different finishes. You can find their polishes on their online store and they'll set you back $17.

Holiday Mix With Color Club and Dr.'s Remedy: Take the Stage and Revive Ruby Red

I hope you all had a fun and safe holiday season! I know, I was gone a few more days than I would have liked, but I'm sure we both have been pretty busy. Texas is pretty chilly so far, but it's supposed to warm up to almost 70 here by the time we leave. Yesterday we did a bit of shopping and I had my first experience at a Bed Bath & Beyond that has a Harmon's inside of it! It was so glorious! Oh why can't we have one like that? Unfortunately they were out of the Revlon polish I was looking for, so you Texas ladies sure have good taste!

I made this little compilation of polishes last week and I really enjoyed it. The small golden glitter with the larger holographic flakes really pops over the Revive Ruby Red color. The flakes aren't extremely noticeable unless you look closely, but it adds a little something special to the glitter topcoat. The application of the red was perfect, but these Color Club glitters take a bit more work. Instead of using long strokes, I have to use lots of little ones to deposit the glitter without brushing them all off.

Sally Hansen Gems Crush Swatches: Cha-Ching

Tomorrow I fly to south Texas! Unlike the past several holidays, I will have internet service so I will be continuing to post the coming week.

I found the new Sally Hansen Gems Crush polishes at Walgreens where they were found with the core collection, not in a limited edition display. Does this mean that they are permanent? As of right now, I'm not too sure, but I hope to find out. They were pretty expensive, at $6.99 each, but you can often find Sally Hansen products buy 1 get 1 half off. Cha-Ching is amazing, just amazing! It contains fine red glitter particles with larger silver pieces. It was slightly sheer, with a few bald spots after two coats, but it was perfect after the third. The only downside to the polish is the annoying wide brush with a tapered end that Sally Hansen sometimes uses. It won't stop me from loving this polish, but I really don't like them.

Do you see how cute these bottles are? They look just like little light bulbs! I wish companies would have other seasonal bottles, but I can understand how difficult that would be. I haven't reviewed any Jessica Cosmetics polishes lately, and I'm happy to show you the Shine on Collection. Lucky Star is a holiday inspired light champagne foil, that, while not really unique, is still a nice gold color. The best part of this polish (besides the cute bottle) is the application. It had probably the best application of any polish I own. I know, that's really saying something! It was just the right thickness with a bit of a whipped consistency (do you know what I mean?).

OoOoOo! I stopped at Walgreens on my way home from work and found the new Sally Hansen Gem Crush polishes and boy are they gorgeous! They didn't have a separate display for these...they were just found with the other main collections from Sally Hansen. I ended up getting two of them and I hope to show them soon.

What is my deal? It's only 5 days to Christmas and I haven't posted many holiday colors. It's definitely time to change that! Essential Emerald is a color from the Dr.'s Remedy Jolly and Joy collection and is quite the unusual color for a holiday collection. It looks more like something you'd find for St. Patrick's Day than Christmas. I also really like the slight shimmer you can see in there. It's faint, but definitely there. The application was slightly thinner than other Dr.'s Remedy polishes, but I still just needed 2 coats for full coverage. Only 1 more week until Christmas! Are you done with your shopping? I'm happy to say that my husband and I finished everyone up this weekend.

Revlon's Carbonite came out months ago, but I only bought it a few weeks ago at Ulta. It's supposed to be a dupe of Chanel's color called Graphite. I've never bought a Chanel polish *sigh* so I cannot compare them for you, but if you do a little Googling, you can easily find some photos. Carbonite is a dark grey polish with lots of silver and gold shimmer. Apparently one main difference between Carbonite and Graphite is that Carbonite is missing some larger gold flecks found in Graphite. I'm usually pretty happy with Revlon's application, and this extends to Carbonite as well. I'm not 100% sure if this polish is still around, so please let me know if you've seen it recently.

If you haven't already, make sure to check out your local Ross store (do you have one?) because I found both Back to BoHo and Backstage Pass collections for $7.99 each. Score! I didn't have any from the Back to BoHo and only one (which I will be showing shortly) from the Backstage Pass one. The only thing wrong with the polishes is that their labels aren't on there, but it's an easy fix and they polishes are well worth it.

Ulta has definitely hit it out of the park with their newest colors because I've been loving them all, especially Army of 1. It's a wonderful dusty army green that has a sprinkling of shimmer if you look closely (you may have to click on the picture to really see it). The application was just fine and only needed 2 coats. I feel like most of the polishes I've used lately only needed 2 coats. Either the companies heard me complain about sheer polishes, or I've just been lucky. I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

I've been in a pretty good mood lately, mostly because I'm doing some new experiments at my job. There's nothing like something new to pique your interest. I'm shocked that I only have about a week before I leave for Texas. December has been flying by. 2011 was a bit rough for me in the beginning, but things have definitely improved as the year went by.

Ulta is killing me with these terrible names. Have they hired the name makers from OPI or something? Despite the cheesy name, I love this periwinkle blue creme polish. Is it purple, is it blue? It's both! In my opinion, this is a pretty unique color, at least in my modest collection ;-) Ulta polishes now retail for $6, but you can often find them on sale, or get their online coupons. I think this one is definitely worth the $6!

China Glaze Colours from the Capitol Collection Preview

Have you read The Hunger Games? I did, and I enjoyed them quite a bit. The first one was definitely my favorite, with Mockingjay being my least favorite. Due to its popularity, China Glaze is releasing a collection based on colors that would be popular in the Capitol. I'm not 100% sure when these will be released, but my guess it will correspond to the release of the movie, which is March 23, 2012. It looks like the collection is full of glitters and shimmers which is right up my alley! Just to be clear, I am team Peeta all the way. What about you, are you team Peeta or Gale?

If you ask Pantone, 2012 will be the color of Tangerine Tango. Their Wiki page shows all the "Color of the Year" winners from 2000. If this color appeals to you, Butter London has the perfect color for you called Jaffa. The dictionary says that a jaffa is type of seedless orange...and also British slang for an infertile man. Whoa, Butter London. What a weird name for a polish! Sometimes your names go a bit too far.

I am such a sucker for Quaker Oatmeal Squares cereal. I eat them at least once a day, and will have it as a snack later in the evening if I have the chance. Of course I started eating them before dinner tonight, and then I ended up eating dinner. I am sooo full. Why, oh why do I do this to myself?

Defense Deep Red is the second polish from the Fall Forever Collection and it's a dark red/brown jelly polish. If you're into vampy jelly polishes, then this one is for you. Unfortunately, jellies are not my favorites, but I can see others liking it. It was slightly sheerer than other Dr.'s Remedy polishes, but it was mostly opaque with 2 coats. Again, you can find them on their website, Twitter, or Facebook and they will run you around $17.

Thank goodness it's the weekend! We finally set up our Christmas tree and lights so I'm finally starting to feel the holiday spirit. Have you set yours up yet? Maybe I'll post a picture of it, despite missing some sort of garland. We stopped at Target to look for some, but they only had some lame ones. Where can I get some cool garland?

I've posted about Dr.'s Remedy polishes previously and I have their fall collection to show you guys. What makes these polishes special is that they were developed by doctors and are approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association. Perhaps their polishes are a little more expensive than others based on the fact that they all contain tea-tree oil, garlic bulb extract, wheat protein and vitamins C and E. Noble Navy is a really great navy blue creme that never looks black in darker light. Perhaps the best part of these polishes is the application. I have never had to apply more than 2 coats of polish and they have the perfect formula. The only downside of these is the price, which will set you back $17 and can be found on their website. Are you liking the new bottles for the Ulta polishes? They just came out recently, and unfortunately, they raised the prices from $5 to $6. No worries, they are always on sale. While the name is absolutely horrendous, I quite enjoy Into Astrono-Me? since it is pretty unique. It is a dusty blue color with lots of teal/sapphire blue shimmer. There were still some bald spots after the first coat that went away after the application of the second coat.

This year instead of going to D.C. we're going to Texas to see my mother and sister-in-law. The thought of a warm(er) Christmas is a happy thought, even though the weather in North Carolina hasn't been too bad so far this season. What are your plans? Speaking of the holiday season, Candy Cane is the final Beyond the Mistletoe polish I have to show. I find the name a bit of a misnomer in that it is not red, but a light pink holographic glitter polish. It doesn't scream winter to me at all, but sometimes it's nice to have colors other than the usual red, green, silver and gold. I'm also happy to report that it is quite opaque and, like the rest of the collection, can be worn alone or over another color.

I know, I've been a bit behind on my posting. My family came to NC to have Thanksgiving since we couldn't have it last week. I must say, my mom made quite the spread and I really overate. What are you doing this weekend?

When I first saw Sugarplum Fairy, I thought it was just a silver holographic glitter polish in a clear base, but if you look closely, you can see that it is mostly a lilac glitter. It's subtle, but it's there. Even with 3 coats, there are a couple bare spots, but it's minimal. I liked it ok, but I think Holiday Splendor was better with the inclusion of a base color instead of it being clear.

The holiday season is officially upon us, much to my dismay. I'm usually farther ahead in my Christmas shopping by now (yeah, I'm one of those people who hates waiting to the last minute) and being out of town put me behind.

Have you heard about the scented Color Club polishes that can be found at Sally's Beauty Supply? I don't have more details, but I do know they exist! The other holiday collection from them is called Beyond the Mistletoe and features 6 glitter bombs for your pleasure. Holiday Splendor is a gorgeous polish with holographic glitter (see the last photo) suspended in a green base. It was a bit sheer, needing 3 coats for full coverage, but the green base really helped cover any bald spots. I love glitter polishes like these for the holiday season, so if you don't have one yet, I would suggest Holiday Splendor.

Hola! The first Monday back after a long weekend is always the worst. Always. I'm still recovering from the jet lag, but I'm finally starting to get better. How was your first day back?

I think this is the last Touring America swatch to show and it's called Honk If You Love OPI (stupid name). It's a bit too dark of a purple creme to be unique, but there's nothing necessarily wrong with it. As you can see from the photo, it dries much darker than the bottle which is a bit unfortunate, but it makes for a nice vampy fall color.

I'm officially back! I'm still fighting some jet lag (my cat waking me up every morning giving me love at 5 in the morning doesn't help). Do you remember way back in the day where I was reviewing the OPI Touring America Collection? Well, since then, the Muppets collection has been released from OPI. It seems people either love or hate this one. I don't own any yet, but perhaps I will get the chance to review a few.

When I saw A-Taupe the Space Needle in the bottle, I was pretty underwhelmed. I thought it was going to be another boring light brown creme, but as you can see, when it's on the nail, the olive green color in it really comes out. It also dried a shade darker than the bottle color. I would definitely recommend this one.

Greetings from Cambodia! All is well here, but man is it so hot! It feels like it just keeps getting hotter and hotter every day. I'll make sure to post more pictures about the trip when I get home, but until then, I thought I'd post about a product I've used every day since arriving. I've never tried Avon's Anew products, but I know a lot of people swear by it. Since it has an SPF of 45, I thought this would be a great opportunity to try it out. Since it has a higher SPF, it definitely has a bit of a greasy feeling until it completely absorbs to the skin. I haven't noticed much of a white cast on my face in photos, but I haven't had my picture taken that often. The best part of this product-I haven't burned! I'm out in the sun on and off for 9 hours every day and I've just gotten a little tan.

Mrs. Right on the Nail is in Cambodia

Hi folks,
While the Mrs. is in Cambodia doing some soil-science, I wanted to give you a brief update to let you know that she's alright, and that the blog isn't forgotten. While she has a bit of internet access out there, it seems sporadic and there isn't much time for blogging. Fortunately, I do have some pictures to share.

They packed pretty light for this trip, but the boxes are still almost as tall as they were when we stacked them in the airport.

After about 30 hours of travel they needed some cafe dukdagohdagah to wake them up. It's coffee with sweetened condensed milk.

The work they're doing has to do with testing the groundwater chemistry and flow where they're installing new wells. Here you can see some drilling and a nearly-finished well.

The Mrs. loves the wildlife around their area. Dogs, cats, cows, and chickens are all over the place.

So, folks, Mrs. RightontheNail is safe and sound, and she'll be back before you know it (even if it feels like forever to me!). I know she took some polish with her to share with the local folks, so maybe some of them will be featured on the blog in the next week or two.

Have you tried the new Gmail yet? Any thoughts? I like the new search menu and the ability to scroll the side menu up and down. One thing that is really lacking? New templates! They took some decent ones away and only added like 3 new ones! I am always wanting new, pretty things, but I can see that most of America wouldn't care much about these things.

I was doing a little window shopping at Zoya today (after finding out they had a get 2 free polish deal yesterday-boo, I didn't know about it) and found they still have a code for buy 2 polishes get 2 free. Mine was just added automatically after signing in so you can check that out.

French Quarter For Your Thoughts was just a pretty plain light grey creme that I probably wouldn't have purchased if it wasn't a part of the mini set. It's not hideous or anything, but it's nothing special either. Meh. It also dried a bit darker than the bottle. Mini brush problems aside, the application and formula was pretty a-ok.

I only have 4 polishes from the OPI Touring America collection since I have no place to get cheaper OPI polishes now that Transdesign isn't selling them anymore. If you know of a reliable place to get them, please let me know! My Address is "Hollywood" (what a bad name) seems like a boring pink, but I think it is so pretty. It is a bright rose color with lots of subtle pink and gold shimmer. I do wish the shimmer stood out more, but I still like it. It's always hard to determine the formula with the mini polishes from OPI because their brushes suck. Perhaps 2 coats would have been ok, but with the tiny brush, it needed 3 for me.

I am so stuffed full of Mexican food right and that's alright by me. Today was pretty productive; we spent the day driving the Hyundai Accent (no, I haven't gotten a car yet), shopping for my trip to Cambodia and eating some great food. Of course I had to stop by Ulta to see if there were any new polishes out, but nope. I did, however, find this little gem while there a week ago. I've heard a lot about the Deborah Lippmann dupe for Bad Romance, but they were out of it at Ulta. When I was Walgreens earlier this week, they had a full display of the new Revlon glitters. Since I already have the Deborah Lippmann one, I didn't bother with the Revlon ones. I would definitely recommend Facets of Fuchsia to those who didn't get to pick up Bad Romance. Oh, Starry Pink is so gorgeous and I don't have anything like this in my collection. It contains large, silver hexagonal glitter with smaller silver glitter throughout suspended in a light pink base. If you don't own it, I would definitely recommend that you stop at your local drugstore to pick up this beauty. It was also more opaque that I thought because it barely needed 3 coats.

Yes, we've finally come to the end of the Metro Collection. I think I will post either some Color Club or OPI polishes next. Poll: what would you rather see next? When I first saw the name of this polish, Demi Lovato's new song came to mind. Since I have a rather long commute to work every day, I tend to listen to all genres of music, including new pop. There's just something about that song Skyscraper that grates my ears. Am I the only one? Anyway, I thought Skyscraper was much better than the other glitter polish, In the City. The fact that this doesn't have a clear base, but a midnight blue color with silver glitter makes this one much more opaque. More opacity = one happy girl.

Whew, I am exhausted. I didn't have time to eat lunch today and dinner didn't come until 8 o'clock. It was one of those times where I should have been starving and weak, but I was working so hard that I sort of forgot about all of that. Does that ever happen to you? If I'm sitting at my desk doing nothing, I'm starving the whole time, but if I'm up and about, food is the last thing on my mind.

I only have 1 more polish (after today) from the Metro collection to show you guys. I didn't buy the whole collection because I thought most of the other ones weren't that unique...which brings up my post about Concrete Catwalk. There isn't anything wrong with it by any means, but it is just your run of the mill deep grey polish that has quite a bit of blue in it. It's fine, but unless you're dying for another grey, I might skip it. On the bright side, the application and formula was pretty good (now that I think of it, the only problems I had were with the glitters).

Oh, I am starving! Mr. Right on the Nail's computer died tonight so we went out and got him a new one (he already had one picked out just in case). I must say, October has been an extremely harsh financial month for me. Good thing I'll be out of the country most of November where pretty much everything will be paid for.

Anyway, on to more important things such as nail polish. Sinful Colors are again $0.99 at Walgreens so make sure to stock up this week (I always pick up 5-6...at some point I'll have the whole collection). Lofty Ambitions is another dark color from the Metro Collection. You've heard me say this time and time again, but I think the subtle red/pink shimmer in this one is what sets it apart from other polishes. Without this, it's just another deep burgundy color. I like it, but it's not my favorite polish. What really helps it is the great application and coverage which was the best of the collection.

Can you believe it's Sunday already? Why do weekend days have to fly by? I've spent a portion of my weekend looking at new cars, and so far I'm leaning towards a Toyota Corolla because I can get a 2011 for pretty cheap. I dunno, it's so hard replacing a loved car :-(

Just ask my husband, I am a huge fan of The First 48. Just seeing the name of this polish, Westside Warrior, makes me think of something that'd be on the show. I'm so glad China Glaze added an olive green creme to their collection because I'm loving them. As you can see from the picture, the polish dried darker than the bottle, but that's fine. This one was also a favorite of the collection, so if you're looking to get any of these, I'd recommend this one.

So, I am now looking for a new car. Jack Bauer is officially totaled and I will need something new. I have a few cars that I'm interested in, but am open to suggestions. Does anyone have any cars they like? I just need something that isn't too expensive and gets good gas mileage (since I have a long commute).

Continuing through the Metro Collection is Brownstone which was very difficult to photograph. It is a deep burnt orange/brown color that is appropriate for fall. With the weather getting colder, I am loving colors like this more and more. I was also very impressed with the formula on it which was really smooth and opaque. I can see how some might not love this one, but I'm digging it.

I stopped by Target the other day to pick up a prescription and I found a lot of new polishes. I thought this would be a nice change to a simple swatch every day. First I found the Essie Winter 2011 polishes. Despite not being the Holiday Collection (hello, FLAKIES!), there are a few polishes that look really awesome.

I had to get my things out of my old car, Jack Bauer (yup, my car was ironically named after the bad ass FBI agent), which was really sad. I guess there's still a small chance that he can be fixed and I'll get him back, but I'm not holding my breath yet. Isn't it strange how attached you can get to some inanimate object? I'll keep you guys posted on what happens. On a happier note, I am physically feeling much better now.

Trendsetter is by far my favorite polish from the Metro Collection because it is just so different than most polishes out there. Yup, it's one of those polishes that is sort of ugly, but you like it anyway. I think what really sets it apart is the gold shimmer in the polish. I've seen a few creme polishes similar to this, but not with the shimmer. I was also much happier with the application in that it only needed 2 coats overall.

Man, I just woke up from a tiny nap because my lovely cat, Mr. Nose, decided he was going to love on me before the sun even came up. Needless to say, I was dragging all day today. On one hand, his loving nature makes me happy, I just wish I could explain that I only need it when the sun is up!

In the City is my least favorite polish from the Metro Collection because I couldn't get this thing to get opaque! This shows 4 coats, and you can still see my nail beneath. I like the colors that make up this glitter (dark purple, black, silver and gold?), but I wish the particles were a bit larger. The application and formula was ok for the most part...I felt like I really needed to slather on the coats to get the coverage I did. This collection has some great polishes, but I'd skip this one.

Look how far behind I am on posting polishes! I'm just now getting to the China Glaze Metro Collection. Up first is one of my favorites called Midtown Magic which is a blackened brown base with gold, red and maybe green shimmer. It's dark, but is definitely a complex polish which I love. Being so dark, it only needed 2 coats for full coverage. Great start to this fall collection.

Woo, I got a new computer! It's so fast and shiny compared to my old one. One not fun thing about getting a new computer is that you have to download all of your programs over. Right now I am downloading the Adobe Suite which takes forever to download. I figured that since I have the time, I'd post the final color from the Foiled Collection called Lumin-Icent which is an icy-blue foil. It's such a light blue that sometimes it almost looks gray. Man, I really want to get the new iPhone 4S (RIP Steve Jobs), but I also desperately need a new computer. I dunno, I think I need to go with a new computer first. Any suggestions on brand? I won't get a MAC because they are too expensive and the specs aren't impressive for the price. I know, I know, some people swear by them, but I'm not making the switch just yet.

Ok, some people may be wondering if Color Club's Antiquated is similar to Orly's Rage, and as you can see from above, they are pretty different. Antiquated is more of a champagne foil, while Rage has a lot more copper/peach in it. I'm not going to lie, I love both of them and I think they would look good on a lot of skintones.

Hey guys, TGIF! My family came in from Tennessee yesterday so I've been working and entertaining the past few days. Sorry this will be a short post, but I want to go back to socializing. Cold Metal is the darkest polish from the Foiled Collection, and due to this, it seems to have less of a foil finish. I mean, it's definitely a foil, but not nearly as much as the rest of the collection. It was also extremely pigmented and barely needed two coats. I like it, but I prefer the stronger foil finish from the rest of the collection.

It's been awhile since I've posted about the Color Club Foiled Collection, but hopefully you remember how awesome these are. The collection has 2 different pink colors, with Foil Me Once (cute name!) being the softer color and Hot Like Lava being the hot pink one. While Foil Me Once is nice, I think I prefer the boldness of Hot Like Lava better. The whole collection applied like a dream and only needed 2 coats for full opacity.

Time for Criminal Minds soon, and boy do I love me some Dr. Spencer Reid (played by Matthew Gray Gubler). Who is your favorite character?

It also reminds me of a color they did in Spring 2011 called Sand Tropez, although this one is a bit darker. Ok, on to the nail polish of the day. I think that Very Structured is my favorite of the collection because it just screams fall. It's freezing in North Carolina right now so it's beginning to feel a bit like fall here. It's supposed to warm up again this week so it's only been cold 1 or 2 days before returning to normal. None of the leaves have started to change yet, but Very Structured reminds me of the reddish brown color that leaves turn. If you are going to purchase any colors from this collection, I recommend Very Structured and Power Clutch because they are pretty awesome.

Ok, Essie's Lady Like is definitely dainty and proper like the name implies. It is a dusty rose creme that is very work friendly. Well, I'm really lucky because I can wear whatever I want at work. My boss is so supportive of my blog and tells people about it whenever he gets the chance. I know, right?! How awesome is that? Please don't mind the tiny bubbles in the last picture because it is just from the topcoat I used (blarg, my Poshe topcoat is running out and needs thinned).

I have a little time before Mythbusters comes back on (huge YAY!) so I thought I'd continue the Essie Fall 2011 collection. I have one issue with this collection and it's that there are 2 neutral brown/beige polishes and they look a lot alike. I mean, come on, give us some variety since you're only coming out with 6 new polishes. Don't get me wrong, the milky light chocolate color here is nice, but two aren't necessary. Glamour Purse is definitely the "cool" color with hints of pink while Case Study is the "warmer" color. Application and formula was great, like most of the collection.

Since this polish collection is inspired by women's handbags, it got me thinking about the purses I've purchased. I'm one of those people who loves color (surprise, surprise) and I don't naturally gravitate to neutral colors. My current purse is bright pink and it makes me so happy. So, what color is your bag?

Carry On is the other darker polish from the collection and is a deep berry creme. When I think of fall colors, this is what I think of...dark, vampy colors that tend to look awesome on nubbins. Let me tell you, this polish was extremely opaque and barely needed the 2 coats I gave it. Perhaps it isn't the most unique color, but I still like it.

Oh, it's another Monday. No matter how much sleep I get on the weekend, I am never prepared for Monday. And every time I say I'm going to sleep early on Monday night, I never do. And so the cycle continues until I'm exhausted when Friday comes. I guess I'll never learn. I spent this past weekend painting a few walls in our apartment. It's so crazy how the whole place looks completely different with such small changes.

I have several polishes from the Essie Brand New Bag collection to show you. On a whole, it looks like a pretty neutral (a.k.a. boring) collection, but that's just what I need sometimes. Unfortunately the picture of Power Clutch isn't the most color accurate. It's an extremely dark greenish grey creme that is quite unique. The formula and application was quite good, too. You never know what kind of formula you're going to get when it comes to Essie. Sometimes they are sheer and watery, and sometimes they are nice and opaque. Overall, it seems like this collection is leaning on opaque (even though several of the polishes are nude).

Boy, it's been raining like crazy here in North Carolina! While driving to the grocery store tonight, we almost hit 3 different frogs on the way--eek! Thank goodness I don't think we hit any. Another thing that makes me sad about when it rains is when earthworms make their way onto the sidewalks and then it stops raining and they dessicate. :-( Ok, sorry about being depressing.

I am a huge fan of the Color Club Foiled Collection so far. Perfect Mol-ten is a soft green polish with lots of silver shimmer to give it that foil look. The application and formula is probably the best I've come across recently. It was so smooth and the polish has lasted three days without any chipping (I'm sure it would have lasted a lot longer, but I needed to swatch a new color). With the great price point of these, I would definitely pick up a few if you get the chance.

Happy Friday! I'm happily stuffed with pizza and am watching a movie (Quigley Down Under) with my husband. I think the weekend will be pretty slow, but we might go to the county fair if the weather and time permits.

I just couldn't hold my excitement for Butter London's Wallis anymore so here it is. Isn't it beautiful?! It's an olive green metallic shimmer that has some golden undertones. The last time I tried a Butter London polish I had application and formula issues. I'm happy to report that Wallis had none of these issues. Is it worth the $14 they retail for? Well...probably not (for me at least). I really like it, but I was lucky enough to get it buy 1 get 1 free with another $4 off from Ulta rewards. I usually can't get myself to spend that much on a polish because of the blog, but if you don't have many polishes and have the money, definitely pick up Wallis.

OPI Femme de Cirque Soft Shades Collection Spring 2011: I Juggle...Men

OPI I Juggle...Men (1 coat on 2 coats of Essence Break Through)

Remember when I posted about Essence's polish called Break Through yesterday? It has a little bit of shimmer, but I wanted more. I've been trying to find the right polish to use OPIs I Juggle...Men shimmer topcoat on, and decided to see what I get. Well, I am slightly....disappointed. This shimmer is just not enough. It looks so beautiful in the bottle, but it hardly translates to the nail. I think it's supposed to be similar to Creative Nail Design (CND) Colour Effects, but it's lacking in shimmer. It contains both blue and purple shimmer that you can see slightly better by clicking on the pictures to enlarge them. Oh, and the rest of the collection was really boring so this is the only one I got from Femme de Cirque. Wow, I feel like such a downer tonight. On a lighter note, I am wearing Butter London's Wallis and it is absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to blog about it!

Oh, how disappointing it is when you cannot capture subtle shimmer from a polish. I swear, Essence's Break Through has some pink shimmer in the fun medium purple color. You may want to click on the pictures to make them larger. Since I always love shimmer, I wish this one had just a little more. That's not to say I dislike the polish, because I don't. As usual, I used two coats here and it had full coverage.

It feels like I've been showing mostly drugstore polishes lately. While I love me some drugstore brands, I like to see what the other brands have to offer. Hi folks,

It’s Mr. Right on the Nail, here. The Mrs. did a review of the first of our Oneproducts the other night and, as I have a “case of the oilies” and she doesn’t,she asked me to write the review of the other product that One sent us to tryout. Squeaky Clean is a shampoo bar likeHair Biscuit (but with a much better name). They’re super convenient becauseyou can use them on hair or body or both and the little metal case that theycome with is well designed, if a little difficult to open up in the shower withyour fingers. It’s not terribly difficult, but I usually have to wedge afingernail under the edge and work my finger around to open it. Probably the best bet is to think ahead andopen it before you get in the shower, but I hardly ever do that.

My hair is pretty oily and very fine. I have to wash it every day because it’skinda gross after a night of sleep. Assuch, I have a preference for fairly harsh shampoos that will whip my hair intoshape. (If anyone cares I could do alittle post on some of the other ones that I like.) Squeaky Clean doesn’t strip my hair down tothe extent that it’s literally squeaky, but it does do a good job of making myhair non-oily and manageable. I wentwith very little product today, and my hair felt really nice without being toolight to manage.

The smell is a little faint, but it’s pleasant and fairlygender-neutral. I think it smellsfaintly like oats and some sort of really light flower or clove. I love that it only takes one swipe across myhead to get a good amount of suds. Don’t go overboard on the application ofthese shampoo bars. You never need nearly as much as you think you will.

Woo, it's Thursday already! Time has just been flying by lately, and I can't believe we're about half way through September already. It's supposed to be a high of 59 degrees F tomorrow which is completely crazy! It's going to start warming up this weekend, but I'm going to have to wear jeans and a jacket tomorrow. How has the weather been in your neck of the woods?

I bought Cloud 9 during the last Sinful Colors sale at Walgreens for $0.99 (which is still going on until this weekend). I also wanted to mention that lots of Wet N Wild polishes that normally run $1.99 are only $0.99 for a limited time. Cloud 9 is a bright orange polish with some gold/orange shimmer that reminds me a bit of Sephora by OPIs Note to Self. The formula was a little sheerer and needed 3 coats, but the application was fine. I like it!

Did I mention that I'm going to Cambodia for work at the beginning of November? I'll be doing some sampling most of the time, but I'll also have a little down time to check out the country. The possessions I'm allowed to bring with me will be extremely limited, so I wanted to find ways to downgrade as much as possible. I used to be a huge fan of Lush Cosmetics and used their shampoo bars for awhile, but I never had one in my hometown and their price hikes turned me off a bit. When I had the chance to review a product that will save me some baggage room and be available locally at Target, I was all for it. You may even have seen other One Bath & Body products in their specialty bath aisle that include bath fizzers, soap and lip balm.

The Hair Biscuit comes with its own aluminum tin that, unlike Lush ones, does contain holes in the bottom so that excess water can escape and the bar can easily be removed. The scent was just ok for me. It has a floral undertone that isn't really good or bad. It's not a big deal because conditioner is what I can smell during the day, not the shampoo. The price is also much better than the Lush ones since these will run you about $6.99 (I think) instead of $9.95-$10.95.

The one downfall I see is the fact that it has SLS in it. I try my best to use non-SLS shampoos because I feel like my hair is healthier that way. This isn't a deal breaker for me, but I wish they could make a version without it. My hair is pretty normal (not oily or dry) and this worked fine for me. If you have the oilies, they make a version called Squeaky Clean that would probably work best for you. Overall, I like it and I will definitely be taking this with me on my trip.

I actually picked up the one I'm showing today at the last sale they had. Amethyst is a nice medium purple creme that is slightly less blue than my pictures are showing (you know how pictures can be with purple colors). The best part is the application and pigmentation which were both exquisite for drugstore polishes. I like it and would definitely recommend it to you guys.

My husband and I went shopping yesterday and got to go to Lush for the first time in a long time (I am so lucky my husband likes to shop!). We bought some fresh masks and will be pampering ourselves tonight. How are you pampering yourself before the beginning of another busy work week?

Continuing on with the abundance of Essence polishes I bought is Walk of Fame. Yup, you've seen colors like this time and time again, but if you haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet, you can pick up this gem for cheap. Sometimes it looks purple, sometimes grey, or brown. Either way, it's a really nice neutral taupe polish. Application and formula was great as usual.

I love 4 day weeks because it does not feel like Wednesday already. I'm proud of myself, I've started working out again (I've been putting it off for way too long). I'm starting with the elliptical machine, but my feet always fall asleep on those! Please tell me I'm not alone in this. Anyway, Dress for a Moment is a pastel lilac creme polish. I've been really into fall colors lately, so, while I like this polish, I'd probably wait until the weather starts to go to crap to wear this one (I often like brighter colors in the dead of winter to give me a little lift in spirit). As always, great application and formula without being chalky at all. If you don't have an Ulta store nearby (unfortunately for my wallet I live right down the street from one), you can always purchase these online. They don't have all the colors, but they have lots of the core line.

Oh man, I am so exhausted. Yesterday was a bit hectic because we had to take Clipsy cat to the emergency vet for a UTI (hopefully not stones). She's on antibiotics and has been acting completely fine the past few days. I'll keep you posted about her condition, but it seems like everything will be fine.

Yup, I'm back to Essence polishes. I can't help it, they are so cheap that I have to pick up any new polishes at Ulta. When I look at Wake Up! I can't quite decide if it's red or orange. What do you think? It's not really unique, but I think it looks great on the nail. Like all Essence polishes, the application and formula was spectacular for a $1 polish!

Ah, I'm so glad to have tomorrow off. If you have to work, I feel for you. This is pretty much the first time I've ever had these government holidays off myself. Are you planning on any festivities for tomorrow? There's a 100% chance of rain tomorrow here, so I guess we'll be staying inside.

Blue Brilliance was a limited edition polish from Maybelline that is likely not available anymore. No worries, you don't want this polish anyway. I was drawn to it immediately with the duochrome colors of blue, purple, green and pink, but it doesn't translate that well on the nail. Second, it was disgustingly sheer. I've shown 4 coats here and it still isn't opaque. I guess you could add a base color that would help a bit. Oh, and the brush on it was total crap and was really floppy. In the end, it applied too much polish to the nail. As you can see above, even when trying to use thin coats, I still had bubbles (likely from having to use so many coats). Ok, I guess that is enough ranting about this polish. Blue Brilliance, I really wanted to love you, but you disappointed me so much.

I just got home from watching Fright Night and I thought it was good. I honestly wanted to watch it because David Tennant is in it and I'm a huge fan. In case I haven't mentioned it, I love the British tv show Doctor Who. My favorite Doctor was definitely Tennant and I try to watch what he's in. You have no idea how excited I am about this 3-day weekend (it's Labor Day here in the US). I plan on catching up on sleep and getting some things done around the house.

Doesn't Head in the Clouds remind you a bit of China Glaze's Cherish from the Romantiques collection? It's due to it being a light green polish with a frosty metallic finish just like Cherish. I dunno, I liked it in the bottle, but it is just so streaky. For the $0.99 I paid for it, it's a fine polish, but be extra careful with the application.

Man, last night I was slightly under the weather...not sick, but not 100% either. Thank goodness I feel better today because I just don't have the time to get sick. Can you believe it's been 3 and a half years since I've been sick? Before I got my tonsils out (which was about 5 years ago) I was sick constantly. Since they've been out I have been sick 2 times for a total of about 2 days (and missed only 1 day of work). I know, you may be thinking I'm jinxing it, but I've been saying for years that it's my time to get sick.

Do you know that song Party Rock Anthem from LMFAO? I'm embarrassed to say that I like the song and think it's catchy. Don't judge me. When I first saw the name of this polish, it made me think of that song. I was hoping Party Palace Blue from Confetti would be a dupe for OPIs Last Friday Night (Katy Perry Collection), but I don't think it fits that bill. I don't think that the Confetti polish has enough glitter in it to be considered a dupe. Also, I've heard that Last Friday Night can eventually be opaque, but I don't think it's really possible with Party Palace Blue. While I like my glitter topcoats, I am often just too lazy to add more coats than necessary.

I finally found out what the collection is called and it's Go with the Flow-er. Again, I found this at CVS and apparently it's pretty new. Let me know if you've found it at your local store! Save Water, There's a Drought is a gorgeous blue/green metallic shimmer that reminds me of a mermaid's fins. Like the lilac color from last night, you really need to be careful of brush stokes, but otherwise the formula was fine.

My Transdesign order was delivered today, but nobody was home. *cries inside* I guess I'll have something to look forward to when I get home tomorrow. I'm really excited about showing some new collections since I've been showing a lot of drugstore polishes lately.

For the life of me I cannot remember the limited edition collection this polish came from! I actually have three to show you all, so hopefully it comes to me or some kind reader reminds me. I found it at my local CVS a little over a month ago. Like other drugstore polishes with limited edition collections, you never know what your local store is going to get, unfortunately. For example, I really wish people could find the Sinful Colors Adventure Island collection I posted the other week.

I'm also happy to report that my (rather large) nail polish haul from Transdesign has shipped. It feels like forever since I've been truly excited about any polish collections. Leave it to fall to have new and exciting colors.

Why Would I Lilac to You? is not very lilac in color if you ask me. It is much too dark to be a true lilac. Either way, for the dollar-something I paid for this it was well worth it. I've been a big fan of Wet N Wild polishes since I was a little girl and I'm happy they're still chucking out polishes I like. Application and formula was fine, but slightly brushstroky so make sure to have a steady hand when applying.

So how was your day? Mine was pretty crappy, but my husband likes to remind me that they're "first-world problems" and he's totally right. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day...

Pixel Polish: Oh Boy!!

Has anyone ever had a little area on their finger (mine is on my index finger on the thumb side) that is perpetually dry? I moisturize with nourishing lotion and butters to no avail. One theory is that my hands are just getting sensitive to harsh hand soaps so I ended up buying some SLS free soap. If anyone has had anything like this before, please let me know. The rest of my hands are just fine for the most part.

I spent most of my time (and money!) at Ikea today. After moving into our new place, we decided that we needed a few new pieces for the apartment. I wish the weekends didn't fly by so fast!

Have you heard of the new brand of polishes at Ulta called Pixel? They are really small bottles (5 mL) that run for $2.49, I think. Oh Boy!! is a frosty pink polish with lots of holographic glitter. So far, I have a few problems with this one. First, the price for the amount of product. Come on, I've never heard of your brand before, why the pricey polishes? The second problem is the extremely short brush it has. I swear, I used just three coats for this one and I feel like I'll have to be tilting the bottle to get polish on the brush next time. A few of the other polishes looked nice, but the downfalls may prohibit me from doing so.

As promised, I finally found the final swatch from the Sinful Colors Adventure Island collection called Rise and Shine. I think it may be a part of the permanent collection though (please correct me if I'm wrong). It's a beautiful kelly green polish with fine microshimmer that really sets it apart from the common green creme. The application and formula was great as well. So, now that you've seen all the swatches I have to offer, what do you think of this collection?

Can you believe it's almost Friday already? I've been out in the field sampling for my job this week, hence me falling behind on the posts. I just wanted to mention that Barielle is having a 30% off sale until August 26th, so if you are on the lookout for some polishes, stop on by to their website. Don't forget, their polishes are also buy 1 get 1 50% off every day.

Wait, hold up! Is that a (semi) holographic polish that retails for only $1? I hesitate to call it a full on holo polish, but it's good enough for me (for the price). It was slightly sheerer than other Essence polishes, needing 3 coats instead of the 2 normally needed. Other than that, I had no application issues with this one. If you want true holo goodness, you will need to look elsewhere, but I'm definitely proud of Essence for this polish.

Sephora by OPI: Caught with my Khakis Down

I was hoping to show the final Sinful Colors polish tonight, but I just realized that the pictures are still on the memory card....and my camera still hasn't been unpacked. Oops! I'll show that one as soon as more of our crap has been put away.

I've been waiting a few weeks to show today's color and I hope you love it as much as I do. It's quite rare for me to purchase polishes from Sephora by OPI due to their high price ($9.50), but I just had to get my hands on Caught with my Khakis Down. It comes from the Safari Luxe collection and is a dusty khaki green polish that is just gorgeous. Unlike the regular OPI polishes, the Sephora by OPI brushes are not the Prowide ones which may make some happy (not me, I actually like the wide ones). The application and formula was superb, which I would expect from a polish retailing for over $9. Are you a fan?
