Julep February It Girl Maven Box: Joan

Julep Joan (2 coats)

Is it Friday yet? My husband and I have plans to go to see Oz-The Great and Powerful and perhaps go to the NC zoo since the weather is supposed to be warm this weekend. What are your plans?

Dare I say that Joan is probably my favorite Julep I own? It's a raspberry plum with gold shimmer. I think this is totally gorgeous and unique. I was also very happy with the formula and application (which I hear is pretty terrible for the pastels that came out in this month's box).

Julep February It Girl Maven Box: Rebel

Julep Rebel (2 coats)

Apparently if you buy enough random stuff at Julep (including the Maven boxes) you earn Jules points which you can use towards a free box. I earned enough last month so I got the It Girl since I was so impressed with the colors in that box. Up first we have Rebel which is the silver version of Ginger which I showed a few weeks ago. I found this to have even less of a holo effect (if that's possible), but it's still a pretty color. The application was flawless and only needed 2 coats. Awesome!

Speaking of holo polishes, the promotional pictures for China Glaze Hologlam collection has been making the rounds. Have you seen it yet? Will you be purchasing?

China Glaze Halloween 2012 Wicked Collection: Cast a Spell

China Glaze Cast a Spell (2 coats)

Yup, I've been to Sally's again. I never found the Wicked collection when it came out, but I found this gem a couple weeks ago. It must have been hidden away for a long time! Cast a Spell is a blackened color with green and gold shimmer. It's extremely dark, but you can tell that it's not just black (which I like). I found the formula to be really thick, but opaque, but that may be due to it being an older polish. Overall, I really like it and found it to be a great fall/winter color.

China Glaze Holiday 2012 Holiday Joy Collection: Angel Wings

China Glaze Angel Wings (3 coats)

I just realized that Celebrity Apprentice is on tonight and I'm embarrassed to say that I'm excited to watch it. At the end of last season I was hoping Clay Aiken would win, and I just happened to see him at the Raleigh airport before the finale. He is much taller than I expected and he has really nice skin! Oh, and his bag was over the weight limit. That's your Clay Aiken trivia for today.

I think this is the last China Glaze Holiday Joy polish I have to show, I promise. I feel bad that I randomly keep throwing these in there, but I only get them when Sally's Beauty Supply has their 50% off sale. Angel Wings is a gold glitter with lots of holographic glitter thrown in there for a pop of color. I found this to be pretty sheer, needing 3 heavy coats for full coverage. I didn't find that underwear was needed for it though. The formula was a bit thick, so you may want to thin it out a bit before using. It also has a tendency to eat topcoat so a coat of Gelous may help. I honestly didn't think I'd like it as much as I did.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure: Copper Penny

Sally Hansen Copper Penny (1 coat)

Happy Saturday! Do you have any fun weekend plans? I don't really have much going on, which is fine with me.

Adele wore Sally Hansen's Copper Penny during the Golden Globes a few weeks back. It's a copper glitter topcoat that I wouldn't bother trying to use on its own since the glitter payoff isn't dense. I'm really sorry to tell you that I cannot for the life of me remember what color I used as the base color. If I find the bottle, I will definitely update this post. I love the combination of blue and copper...it reminds me a bit of Barielle Falling Star which is one of my favorite polishes. The only downfall of the Complete Salon Manicure polishes is the price point (~$7.99) for a drugstore polish. Definitely wait for a sale to get them.
