Nails Inc. Sprinkles Collection: Sweets Way and the Cat Show

Nails Inc. Sweets Way (3 coats)

Yup, it's almost 2013! While 2012 wasn't a bad year, I don't think it was that great either. We hope to get our house next month which is exciting. I never really do anything for New Years Eve or day and I'm fine with that. I don't understand why people make a huge deal about changing years. I do have an exciting manicure on today with holographic glitter. Anyway, if you're going out tonight, please have fun and be safe!

I can't believe these are my first Nails Inc. polishes to review. They are a brand out of London and you can find them at your local Sephora store or online for $9.50 (I used a coupon on these). I've been wanting to try one of the colors from the Sprinkles collection and I decided on Sweets Way which has pink, blue and silver glitter suspended in a milky white base. I was a bit worried about it getting opaque, but I'm happy to report that it fully covers in 3 coats. I've heard other people getting away with just 2 coats, but I was getting some balding on the tips. I love it! It reminds me of sprinkles on frosting.

Oh, the cat show was so much fun yesterday! There were lots of interesting breeds there, and it was so hard coming home without one :-D Here are a few pictures:

 An Abyssinian

 An Egyptian Mau

Poor Cozy has no eyelids and is up for adoption

 A Somali

 Somali again

 Oriental Shorthair

A Main Coon kitten...yup, a kitten

Zoya Fall 2010 Wicked Collection: Julieanne

Zoya Julieanne (2 coats)

Guess what, I'm going to a cat show today! Yeah, there's one that's been going on this weekend in Raleigh, so we decided it would be a fun way to spend our Sunday afternoon. I'd feel more productive than yesterday when I watched Season 1 of Revenge on Netflix all day. That show is so addictive! I'll make sure to take pictures and talk about the show tomorrow.

I must make a confession; I bought Julieanne solely for the name as it shares the name with my sister-in-law. I made a pact not to swatch it since I was giving it away, but my husband coerced me into it. Sorry Julie, that nice polish you got for Christmas was swatched on my fingers *glances away shyly*. I must admit that Julieanne is a really pretty polish. It is a dark purple duochrome with light purple and gold glitter. I hope it has a happy home with my SIL!

Zoya Holiday 2012 Ornate Collection: Storm

Zoya Storm (2 coats)

Happy Friday! Since I don't have to go back to work yet, I've been enjoying the plethora of judge shows at home (ex. Judge Judy, Judge Alex, etc.). I know, it's a guilty pleasure of mine! Let me know what your guilty pleasure is.

Zoya Storm doesn't seem like a holiday color, but that didn't stop me from snatching it up. It's a black color with a sprinkling of scattered holographic glitter. It definitely has less of a holo finish than Aurora, but it still looks beautiful. I'm not a huge fan of straight black polishes; I always want there to be a different finish, and Storm fits that bill perfectly. It was extremely opaque and only needed 2 coats to be opaque. Love it!

Zoya Holiday 2012 Ornate Collection: Aurora

Zoya Aurora (2 coats)

I just returned from the Sally clearance sale where I got some of the China Glaze Holiday Joy collection and Bohemian collections for cheap. You should definitely check it out if you get the time.

Zoya's holiday collection has a new addition-holographic polishes! No, they aren't linear holos like the Layla ones or China Glaze OMG collection, but are the scattered type. Aurora is a medium purple holo that has a strong holographic effect. I think this one is absolutely stunning, and is my favorite of the collection. It looks really chunky, but the particles are smooth and remove easily. You need this one in your life. The formula and application was great as well.

SquareHue Subscription Box: Sugar Plum

SquareHue Sugar Plum (2 coats)

Happy Hump Day! I just got back from Knoxville, and I had a great Christmas yesterday. I hope your day also went well.

Tonight is the last polish from the introductory SquareHue subscription box and is a purple plum shimmer called Sugar Plum. Again, it's a very pretty polish, but perhaps not the most unique purple color. The formula was good, but I found that ridges in my nails were accentuated with the polish. You might want to use a ridge filler before applying this one. Otherwise, the application and formula was fine. Overall, I am quite impressed with this first box, and I can't wait to see what they have to offer in the coming months.

SquareHue Monthly Subscription Box: Champagne Toast

SquareHue Champagne Toast (2 coats)

It's Christmas Eve! My family will be getting together for dinner tonight and to open some presents (my brother will be visiting his in-laws on Christmas Day). I just want to say a quick thank you to all of you for coming by the blog. It seems like yesterday that I started this, and I appreciate all of you for your support. I hope to have great things for this blog in the coming year, so stop on back :-)

The second SquareHue polish from their December 2012 box is Champagne Toast which is a champagne/gold foil. This isn't the most unique color, but it is perfect for this time of year. The color isn't too warm, so I think this would be fine for cool toned people as well. The opacity was quite surprising, needing only 2 coats again. Sorry for the weird hand arrangement-the bottle is pretty big and it was difficult to get my hand around.

SquareHue Monthly Subscription Box: Holly Berry

SquareHue Holly Berry (2 coats)

Do you have a monthly subscription box like Birchbox, Ipsy, Julep, etc.? I only have Julep, and I am sometimes a bit disappointed with it since they have started straying away from just having polishes. If I have a polish subscription, I don't really want mascara with that, you know what I mean? There's a new box out called SquareHue which will give you 3 0.5 oz polishes each month. The polishes are made in the US and are all 3 free and cruelty free. If you have any more questions, take a look at their FAQ. Their bottles are really beautiful and square and each bottle has a label that tells you what month you received that box. They only ship to the US right now, so you international folks are out of luck right now. Each month will set you back $21 unless you subscribe by tomorrow where you can get a discount to $14.99 for the life of your subscription. I found this code from The Polishaholic, so go ahead and stop by her wonderful blog and say thank you. Put in the code DECBLOGGER13 at checkout for the discount.

The first polish is Holly Berry (love the name!) which is a bright red shimmer. Since it is Christmas time, I have been loving these red polishes. The rest of the year I am mostly meh about most red polishes. The brush is a bit short and skinny, but this caused no issues with application. I was impressed with the formula which was the perfect consistency and opacity in 2 coats. So far I am pretty impressed!

Sally Hansen Magnetic Polishes: Graphite Gravity

Sally Hansen Graphite Gravity (2 coats)

Hi everyone, I hope your weekend is going well, now we know there is no apocalypse! I had dinner with my  immediate family which was really nice (and it was pizza Friday!). Do you have any fun plans?

Graphite Gravity is the last magnetic polish I have to show you and it's a darkened charcoal grey color. There are 2 different grey polishes in the collection (the other being Silver Elements) which I think is a little overkill for 1 collection. I think if I had to choose between this one and Silver Elements, I would choose Silver Elements because it has that shimmer I love.

Overall, this is a nice magnetic polish collection, but by no means do you need to buy all of them. My picks would be the polishes with the shimmer in them, as well as Red-y Response.

Sally Hansen Magnetic Polishes: Golden Conduct

Sally Hansen Golden Conduct (2 coats)

Man, I really thought Miss Philippines was going to win last night. I know, it sounds weird that I'm a bit disappointed that Miss USA won, but I thought Miss Philippines was more of a natural beauty. Oh well, 2nd place isn't shabby.

I only have 2 more magnetic polishes to show you, and the first one is Golden Conduct which is a golden bronze shimmer. It it pretty similar to yesterday's polish (Kinetic Copper), but I actually like Kinetic Copper more. This one is ok, but I think it's my least favorite one.

It's almost Christmas-eek!

Sally Hansen Magnetic Polishes: Kinetic Copper

Sally Hansen Kinetic Copper (2 coats)

Happy Hump Day! I just got home, so it's been a long day. I think my evening will consist of watching the Miss Universe Pageant which should be interesting.

I often find nail polish names to be a bit ridiculous (I'm looking at you Suzi from OPI!), but I'm really loving this one. I know, it must be the scientist in me. Anyway, this one is a copper shimmer that is just perfect for this time of year. Oh, and it also has that shimmer that I love.

Sally Hansen Magnetic Polishes: Red-y Response

Sally Hansen Red-y Response (2 coats)

Hola! I've been working my butt off in Knoxville trying to get my samples done, so my apologies for the lack of posts. I'm not sure why Sally Hansen decided to call this one Red-y Response because it is more of a plum/raspberry color than red. Despite the lack of shimmer, I still really like this one a lot. You guys can probably tell I'm not that great at nail art, so magnetic polishes are the closest thing you can get. I really wish I was more creative!

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Polish: Silver Elements

Sally Hansen Silver Elements (2 coats)

Happy Sunday! I'm headed for Knoxville to do some lab work in my old lab and it's going to be a long day of driving. What did you do this weekend?

The next Sally Hansen magnetic polish is likely my favorite one called Silver Elements that has that dark shimmer in the design which I love. Without the magnet, the polish looks like a regular old silver foil; It was such a pleasant surprise to find how it would look with the design. The formula and application is the same as the rest of them. If you have any questions, go ahead and look back a few days and it should be answered there.

Sally Hansen Magnetic Polishes: Ionic Indigo

Sally Hansen Ionic Indigo (2 coats)

What a sad day. I cannot believe what happened in Connecticut today, and it was such a senseless act. My prayers go out to everyone involved.

Ionic Indigo is a blue indigo magnetic polish that has a lighter blue with darker blue/purple in the design. I don't think I liked this one as much as Electric Emerald based on the fact it lacks that shimmer in it. The magnet and formula was the same as yesterday's post.

Don't forget, you have until 11:59 EST tonight to enter my giveaway for Pedi-Sox!

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Polishes: Electric Emerald

Sally Hansen Electric Emerald (2 coats)

I'm finally doing better! It was a pretty crappy few days, but I'm happy to be back. I hope you're not sick of magnetic polishes because I have some Sally Hansen ones to show. Up first is Electric Emerald which has both medium green and sparkly deep green in the stripes. I really like how the design showed up on the nail, despite the slight streaking I had due to impatience to put topcoat on. I found that all the polishes I have to review applied nicely; the formula was slightly thick, but that's a good thing with magnetic polishes. The magnet isn't the strongest, but it's fine. The one thing I wish Sally Hansen had was different magnet designs. All the polishes have the same magnet on them which gets a little repetitive. The magnet sits on a separate cap and has a cuticle rest so you don't smudge your nail on the magnet. One weird thing I had happen with at least 2 of the polishes was that the magnet fell off the cap and onto my nail! I just put a little nail glue on it and placed it back on and it was good as new. I would shake the cap a couple times before putting it against my nail just to be safe.
