Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Travel Stories Adventure Land Collection Swatches and Review: Leaf Me Be

*press sample*

Sally Hansen Leaf Me Be (2 coats)

Hi guys! This week has been flying by...mostly because work has been really hectic. You know how it is when you get back from vacation. We have a pen show coming up soon, so it's a lot of packing. Tonight I have a polish from the first of 2 collections Sally Hansen has released this summer called the Adventure Land collection. It features 7 different polishes in a variety of finishes. I'll be completely honest with you, I've never been able to get the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat to work for me. For some reason, it always bubbles on me. I've ended up using Vapid Lacquer's top coat for my swatches and I've had no problems with bubbling of the polishes themselves. I've read that others have had the same thing happen, so I'm not sure what the problem is. There is no fan on in the room, and it's happened with a brand new bottle that isn't even thick.

Leaf Me Be is a dark hunter green creme that dries a shade darker on the nail compared to the bottle color. I love it! It's an unconventional summer color, and I'm so happy a mainstream brand has gone out of their comfort zone. It was also extremely pigmented and you'd likely get away with just 1 coat (of course I did 2 for good measure).

I have 2 polishes from the Romantic Rendezvous Collection coming this week so stay tuned. These collections are releasing this month and will cost $9.99 at retailers. Stay up-to-date all things Sally Hansen with their website, Instagram, and Twitter pages.

Sally Hansen Moisture Rehab Strengthener Review

*press sample*

Do you like to walk around Walgreens or CVS just to look at new beauty products? I'm totally guilty of this. In terms of drugstore nail polishes/treatments, Sally Hansen is a huge player. They have multiple treatments for nails and cuticles, but how do you know which one will work best? That's why I find blog reviews so helpful! My nails have been a little fragile lately, with some peeling and hangnails. I blame winter for the hangnails, but my nails tend to be in the peeling state most of the time. Part of it has to do with my job, but the other has to do with all the acetone I put on my nails. When I was asked to review Sally Hansen's new Moisture Rehab Strengthener, I was admittedly dubious. Was this really going to help?

Let's first talk a little about the ingredients. This is what Sally Hansen has to say about the Moisture Rehab:

This moisturizing treatment work wonders for skin and hair, and now nails and cuticles can benefit from the rejuvenating results. Introducing Sally Hansen Moisture Rehab, our first overnight nail serum that contains moisture and nutrient rich extracts for intense nail and cuticle restoration. This brush-on, luxurious formula, featuring a blend of black orchid, açai and algae actives and humectants, helps hydrate and rejuvenate severely dry or weak nails. The lightweight, serum formula leaves nails ready for rest and repair, so you can awaken to stronger, replenished and healthier-looking nails and cuticles.

As you can see, it's more of a gel consistency than an oil which surprised me. Most cuticle products which claim to moisturize are oils that take forever and a day to sink in. Being a gel, it soaks in quickly and you don't need to massage it in for too long. They recommend using it at night, but you could likely use it at other times during the day because it doesn't make your hands oily. It has a light, nondescript floral fragrance that I like. If you are especially sensitive to fragrance, this may bother you a bit, but I doubt it. But the question of the hour is, does it work?

It's a resounding yes! Immediately after application, my cuticles were soft and moisturized. I should also mention that they recommend applying this to bare nails, but I never have bare nails. I brushed the product straight on my cuticles, and I could definitely see results. While I liked what it temporarily did for my cuticles, I like what it did for my nails even more. I've used this daily for over a month and my nails have no more peels and are overall much stronger/healthier. I really can't believe how much of a difference this has made for me. I've already decided to buy another bottle so I never run out. This week all Sally Hansen products are buy 1 get 1 50% off at Ulta, so I might stop there this weekend. It retails around $9-$10 depending on where you buy it, so wait for a sale to stock up.

Right on the Nail ~ Black Creme Polish Comparison

*press samples*

Left: Sally Hansen Blacky O (2 coats) Middle: Morgan Taylor Little Black Dress (2 coats) Right: NYC Black Lace Creme (2 coats)

Tonight I have a little something different for you. I received several different black creme polishes to review with Halloween right around the corner. On the nail, all three basically look the same, but they all have different brushes, consistencies, and prices. On the left is Blacky O from the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line. It had a formula that was slightly jelly-like. Unlike a jelly it only needed 2 coats. In the middle we have the Morgan Taylor color called Little Black Dress that was easily the most opaque and easiest to apply of the three. It is also the most expensive and hardest to find. And finally, on the right is New York Cosmetics' (NYC) Black Lace Creme. It had a really thin, almost jelly formula, but still only needed 2 coats.

The price and availability are important points to mention as well. If you need the polish for this weekend, you will be able to find the Sally Hansen for around $8 at your local Ulta, Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, or Rite Aid stores. NYC is also easy to find at Target, Walmart, Rite Aid, CVS, or Kmart. Oh, did I mention that these will run you a buck? That's right, a dollar. And finally, Morgan Taylor is not easy to find for non-professionals. Fortunately, there is one place you can purchase your Morgan Taylor, OPI, or CND polishes, and that's Loxa Beauty. You can buy polishes for retail price, but right now they have 15% off all purchases with the code TREAT15. Overall, if I want a great black polish that I plan on wearing a lot, I would go with Morgan Taylor, but if it's just something for once a year or just a costume, you may want to just buy the NYC color.

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen New 2015 Boho Chic Collection Collection Swatches and Reviews: Fish-Teal Braid

*press samples*

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Fish-Teal Braid (2 coats)

TGIF! I actually received 2 colors from the Boho Chic collection, but 1 broke in transit *cue sad violin music.* Tonight I have a color called Fish-Teal Braid (fun name!) which is a bright teal blue creme. It wasn't until I was about to take this polish off that I was wondering if I'd get some staining, and I did. It was more the cuticles and the skin on the sides of my nails that stained than my nails themselves. Just a little soap and a nail brush and my nails were as good as new. If/when I wear this one again, I'd probably wear a peel-off basecoat so I don't have to deal with staining. If you're into bright, festival-ready colors, the other polishes in the Boho Chic collection are for you.

These will run you about $10 from drugstores, but make sure to look out for sales. You can find more about Sally Hansen on their TwitterFacebook, and Instagram pages.

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen New Tribal Vibe Collection Collection Swatches and Reviews: Per-Suede and Terra-Coppa

*press samples*

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Per-Suede (2 coats)

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Terra-Coppa (2 coats)

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Sally Hansen. They have consistent quality and are relatively easy to find in the US (unless it's a limited edition color-I'm looking at you, Opulent Cloud from a few years ago...anyone else remember that craziness?). Two new collections have been released this fall with the introduction of their new 2X Volume Gel Top Coat (more on that later). Tonight I have 2 colors from the 7-piece Tribal Vibe collection to show you.

Up first is Per-Suede which is a leathery red/brown creme. I know, it's a weird description, but surprisingly fitting. It has that Tuscan feel that reminds me of a terracotta pot. This is a great fall color that has really warm undertones. I have been vocal in my dislike for the Sally Hansen tapered brush, but I think I finally got used to it. It's still not my favorite, but I know it's loved by many. This also had such a great formula and application. The second color is called Terra-Coppa and is a metallic copper and silver shimmer. They recommend using 2 coats of the color (no base) with 1 coat of top coat and I was worried that I would need a third coat of color for this one. I ended up just using 2 coats, but you may need a third. This is another great fall color and I may need to buy the rest of the collection if I find it at a drugstore. Despite it being a little more sheer, the application was perfect.

I used the new 2X Volume Gel Top Coat for all of the swatches. I know some people have had some issues with the old top coat streaking the color, so I was curious to see if this was corrected with the new formulation. Well, yes and no. I did have 1 nail that slightly streaked (middle finger on Per-Suede), but it wasn't noticeable unless you looked straight at my nails. I really don't know what causes this, do you? In terms of the volume, I don't really think about volume unless I'm talking about mascara, am I right? I think it's slightly thicker which might remind you of a true gel polish application. Is it completely different than the 1st formula? No, but I still like it. I ended up wearing Per-Suede to DC a couple weeks ago and had no chipping of peeling with about 4 days of wear. The only thing I noticed was that the gloss of the top coat slightly dulled which isn't surprising.

If you made it this far in the review, congratulations! Apparently I was feeling a bit long-winded today. These will run you about $10 from drugstores, but make sure to look out for sales. You can find more about Sally Hansen on their TwitterFacebook, and Instagram pages.

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen Limited Edition Insta-Dri 4th of July Swatches and Reviews

Sally Hansen Quick Brick (2 coats)

Sally Hansen just renamed this polish because I found some swatches online that were obviously not this same true tomato red creme color. This had the best application and formula of the three and only needed 2 easy coats.

Sally Hansen Tag, Ur It! (2 coats)

Tag, Ur It! is a stark white creme that is a bit streaky on the first coat, but evens out fairly well on the second. I do wish it was more self-leveling than it is.

Sally Hansen Vandal Eyes (3 coats)

Vandal Eyes is a sky blue color with very subtle shimmer. Let's just go ahead and call this a creme because you can't see any shimmer here. It was quite sheer and needed 3 coats for full opacity.

*press samples*

Happy (almost) 4th of July to those in the US. I know, I forgot to wish my Canadian friends Happy Canada Day, sorry! Today I have a limited edition set of Insta-Dri polishes from Sally Hansen for this special day. While not all of them are true American colors (I'm looking at you, Vandal Eyes), they are still pretty. I'm still not a fan of the wide, tapered brushes on these polishes, especially with the narrow bottle top. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

These will run you about $5 from drugstores, but make sure to look out for sales. You can find more about Sally Hansen on their TwitterFacebook, and Instagram pages.

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen Summer 2015 Poolside Paradise Miracle Gel Collection Swatches and Review: Morning, Sunshine!

Sally Hansen Morning, Sunshine! (3 coats)

*press sample*

I'm back! Sorry for the little break, but I was visiting my family in Tennessee over the weekend. We went to the zoo despite the heat and watched Jurassic World which was great. Speaking of weather, it's supposed to be 100 degrees (F) here tomorrow! It has been a pretty cool summer so far, so it's going to be especially excruciating tomorrow.

Today is the final Sally Hansen Poolside Paradise polish to show called Morning, Sunshine! which is a bright yellow creme with slight green undertones. As with pretty much all yellows I had a bit of streaking on the first coat, but it pretty much smoothed out by the third coat. When comparing it to other yellows, I found the application to be above average, but not perfect. Overall, I think this collection is on point for the perfect summer manicure or pedicure. I don't think the Miracle Gel formula will really last 2 weeks for most, so you may want to invest in only 1 color and the gel topcoat to test it if you really want a long-lasting color.

These will run you about $10 from drugstores, but make sure to look out for sales. You can find more about Sally Hansen on their TwitterFacebook, and Instagram pages.

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen Summer 2015 Poolside Paradise Miracle Gel Collection Swatches and Review: Pink-A-Colada

Sally Hansen Pink-A-Colada (3 coats)

*press sample*

I just got some more Sally Hansen polishes in the mail the other day (I think I received half of the Insta-Ombre and Pearl Crush collections) so expect some more Sally Hansen in the future. While I absolutely adore the creative polishes that come from independent polish makers, I will always have a special place in my heart for Sally Hansen and other brands who have been around for many years.

We're close to finishing up the Poolside Paradise collection with a color called Pink-A-Colada. I thought for sure this would be a creme since all of the other polishes I had tried were true cremes, but this is definitely more of a crelly finish. I found this cotton candy pink color to be fairly sheer since I needed 3 heavy coats to get full coverage. I dunno, I think this is my least favorite of the collection. If it had more pigment, maybe I would have liked it more, but for those of you who don't mind a little nail line, this one may be for you.

These will run you about $10 from drugstores, but make sure to look out for sales. You can find more about Sally Hansen on their TwitterFacebook, and Instagram pages.

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen Summer 2015 Poolside Paradise Miracle Gel Collection Swatches and Review: Rum Punch

Sally Hansen Rum Punch (2 coats)

*press samples*

I just got home from watching Spy tonight and I thought it was really funny! It was a great mix with Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham. Did you see any movies this weekend? I hope to watch Jurassic World next weekend.

I only have a couple more of the Poolside Paradise collection polishes from Sally Hansen to show you. Rum Punch (from the name I expected it to be more of a red color) is a bright pink creme that would be perfect for a summer pedicure. I actually may put this one on tonight! It may not be an exciting color, but you can't go wrong with a color like this. This was the last of the polishes that applied in 2 coats as I found the others to be sheerer or more jelly-like. It still had that amazing formula and application.

These will run you about $10 from drugstores, but make sure to look out for sales. You can find more about Sally Hansen on their TwitterFacebook, and Instagram pages.

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen Summer 2015 Poolside Paradise Miracle Gel Collection Swatches and Review: Swimsical

Sally Hansen Swimsical (2 coats)

*press sample*

Happy Friday! Any plans for the weekend? I think I'm going to some local outlets with a friend tomorrow, and if I'm feeling energized in the morning I may go to the farmers market. I love fresh, local vegetables!

Tonight I have another of the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel summer collection called Swimsical (I love the play on words). It's a medium teal creme that leans more blue than green. It reminds me of some of the blues that Zoya put out in their summer collection (which I am currently testing right now), but without the staining that comes from the Zoya colors. Swimsical mostly covered in 2 coats, but if you really hate any visible nail line, then 3 coats will have to do. Like Life's a Peach, I was really impressed with the formula and application (even with the brush that I hate).

These will run you about $10 from drugstores, but make sure to look out for sales. You can find more about Sally Hansen on their TwitterFacebook, and Instagram pages.

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen Summer 2015 Poolside Paradise Miracle Gel Collection Swatches and Review: Life's a Peach

Sally Hansen Life's a Peach (2 coats)

*press sample*

Sally Hansen is coming out with a ton of new products for this summer. One set is a collection of 7 summer polishes from the Miracle Gel line called the Poolside Paradise collection. It's full of bright colors perfect for summer. Up first is Life's a Peach which is a saturated red-orange creme. It doesn't really remind me of a peach, but perhaps the skin has a little of this color? Anyway, this is a great color for summer and it would look great on darker skin. It was extremely pigmented and only needed 2 coats for full coverage. The large tapered brush is definitely not my favorite (I find it makes the application more difficult), but even with it I found that the application was seamless.

These will run you about $10 from drugstores, but make sure to look out for sales. You can find more about Sally Hansen on their Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram pages.

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen Velvet Texture Collection Swatches and Review: Velour

*press samples*

Sally Hansen Velour (2 coats)

I know, I bet you're surprised that I have another Sally Hansen velvet texture polish. I think there's only one I don't have, and I think I'm just going to have to give up on it. Velour is a matte medium purple color with a slightly textured finish. While I like this fine, I think I like some of the other deeper colors from the collection a little better. I found that 2 coats were perfect to keep the texture without taking too long to dry. Are these still around? Last month I found an untouched display at Walgreens, but I'm not 100% sure if these are limited edition or not.

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Collection Swatches and Review: Get Mod

*press sample*

Sally Hansen Get Mod (3 coats)

Yup, I have yet another Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polish to show called Get Mod which is a perfect name since it is a slightly off white creme. Very mod indeed! Oh, and this white looks terrible on my long gone talons. Just look how uneven they are! Unfortunately, like most white polishes, this had a pretty bad formula. I needed 3 coats to even things out, and it was pretty thick. It also seemed to take longer to dry, likely due to having 3 coats instead of 2. I think I'd hold off on this one if I were you.

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Review and Swatches: Pink Cadillacquer

*press samples*

Sally Hansen Pink Cadillacquer (2 coats)

Happy Easter if you celebrate! The Easter Bunny found me and I am full of delicious candy. Tonight I have a light pink creme called Pink Cadillacquer (LOVE the name!) that would be perfect for that Easter dinner or a date night with your favorite outfit. I found the same formula and longevity of the polish as Friday's Red Eye. This isn't a really unique color, but it is still really nice. It dries about a half a shade darker than the bottle as well. Enjoy!

Right on the Nail ~ Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish Review and Swatches: Red Eye

 *press sample*

Sally Hansen Red Eye (2 coats)

Happy Friday! It was such a beautiful Good Friday, and I hope your Easter weekend is off to a good start. Oh man, look how creepy and long my nails were! Ugh, that just shows you how old these swatches are. Oops! Good thing the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes are still available. These are supposed to prolong your manicure for up to 14 days with no LED or UV light needed. Oh, and they can be removed like regular nail polish. So, how does this work? The main product you will need is the  Miracle Gel Topcoat. You can use this with the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes (like I do here) or regular nail polish with the gel topcoat. Think of this as a drugstore version of the CND Vinylush polishes.

Tonight I have Red Eye which is a bright tomato red creme. Not very groundbreaking color-wise, but it's all about the formula and lasting results. So, how did it do? Unfortunately I don't have 2 weeks to fully test these, but my mom had great results with no significant chipping for around 5 or 6 days. I went 3 days with no issues, and my hands are sweaty in nitrile gloves all day every day. This product seems to be variable based on body chemistry, so this may not work as well for you. The polish and topcoat retail for around $10 each, but there is often a bundle pack of both for a discount. I think this is a little steep for drugstore products, but is well worth it if it works for you.
