Julep November It Girl Box: Hailee

Julep Hailee (2 coats)

Busy night, so this is going to be a quick post. Doesn't Hailee look a lot like Nora from yesterday? The silver is so prominent in these Julep suede polishes that it makes it hard to see what the base color is supposed to be. Well, I think it's supposed to be more of a green color, but I could be wrong. Again, this is a color that looks nice on my husband. Someone mentioned how chiptastic these are, and they are not wrong. I could barely get a day out of them before getting some chips (most of that time was spent sleeping, too). Some people say not to wear a basecoat with these, but I did, so perhaps that was part of the problem. I think the problem is the lack of a protective topcoat.

This is the last color I have from the It Girl November box because the third was a matte topcoat (boo, I want another color). Overall, I really wish I didn't get this box.

Julep November It Girl Maven Box: Nora

Julep Nora (2 coats)

Guess who has been busy? This gal! Work has been really hectic, and we are finishing up with the offer on the house. All of the fun stuff such as the home inspection, pest inspection, and appraisal is happening this Friday, and thank goodness my husband is around to make sure everything goes smoothly. I'll keep you posted on anything else new that happens.

I accidentally got the November Maven box because I was in Cambodia and forgot to skip that month. I'm not a huge fan of suede polishes, but at least my husband is, so they are being put to good use. He is always having me put matte colors on his toes. Nora is a nice dark grey matte color. There's really not much else to say about it. The formula was, of course, fast drying and opaque which was nice. Overall, my husband really likes this one!

Dermelect Resort 2013 Nail Collection: Moon Kissed

Dermelect Moon Kissed (3 coats)

Oh man, it's so hard to get back in the hang of things after 4 days off! I was definitely not as productive as I wanted to be today. Oh well, baby steps and all that.

I have a new polish from the upcoming Dermelect Resort 2013 collection called Moon Kissed. This collection contains 3 new colors including Lust Struck and All the Envy. If you can remember back, I was really impressed with the release of Dermelect polishes a few months back. The formula was incredible, so how did Moon Kissed fare? Well, it was pretty good, but not quite as good as the previous polishes. I find that white polishes can be a bit of a pain to apply sometimes, so I thought Moon Kissed would be a good one to test. While the application was just fine, it needed 3 coats instead of the usual 2 for the Dermelect polishes. Other than that, everything was great. I ended up wearing this a few days and it really wore well. Overall, I really like Dermelect polishes, and you can purchase these on their website here for $14 each (ouch, I know).

OPI Holiday 2012 Skyfall Collection: The World is Not Enough

OPI The World Is Not Enough (3 coats)

Sorry I've been a little MIA this weekend, but I've been busy visiting the family. I don't get to make it to Knoxville very often, so it was nice just to sit and relax.

The World is Not Enough is the last of the Skyfall swatches I have to show, and it's an interesting mix of taupe, pink and silver shimmer. Unfortunately I liked it more on the bottle than on the nail. That's not to say I don't like it at all, but this color was the reason I wanted this collection. The formula was way too sheer as well. I used 3 really generous coats, and you can still see some bald spots, especially on my ring finger on the bottom photo. Maybe if it were more opaque I would have liked it more.

OPI Holiday 2012 Skyfall Collection: GoldenEye

OPI GoldenEye (3 coats)

Happy belated Thanksgiving! I, of course, ate too much. Also, guess what. They accepted our offer on the house! We have to get a house inspection and all that still, so it's not a guarantee, but we're still excited.

GoldenEye is the third of the four I have to show, and it's a dense golden glitter. Golds are not always my favorite, but this one is very rich-looking. The only issue with it is that it is a little sheer. I felt like I really had to pile on 3 full coats to get it opaque. Me gusta mucho!

OPI Holiday 2012 Skyfall Collection: The Spy Who Loved Me

OPI The Spy Who Loved Me (2 coats)

Thanksgiving is almost here! I'll be traveling back to Knoxville tonight, so it will be a long night of driving, but I'm looking forward to chowing down tomorrow. If you are traveling, please be careful!

You guys know that red polishes are not my favorite. I often don't bother picking any up from new collections, but I'm glad The Spy Who Loved Me was included in the Skyfall mini collection because it is so beautiful. It is a bright red color with lots of gold shimmer that reminds me of Christmas. I think there were a few other reds in this collection, but I think this one is the best. The formula was very easy to work with, despite the tiny brush. Overall, I love this one, and I'm considering a full size bottle.

OPI Holiday 2012 Skyfall Collection: Live and Let Die

OPI Live and Let Die (2 coats)

Hola! Is it just me, or is there usually about 1, maybe 2, of the OPI mini polishes in the mini sets that you like, and the other ones are just meh? When I looked at the Skyfall mini set at Ulta, I was so happy that I really wanted all 4 of them, which was a first for me. The one I probably wanted the most was Live and Let Die, which is a blackened green with green and gold shimmer. I love this polish so much! And isn't that the name of a Guns N Roses/Paul McCartney song? Just another reason to love it! The formula and application seemed fine, but with how tiny the bottle and brush is on the OPI mini polishes, it's really hard to tell. You know how it is.

Pure Ice Fur or Fang Collection: Silver Lining

Pure Ice Silver Lining (2 coats) over China Glaze Cheers to You (2 coats)

Hi everyone, I hope your weekend went well. We looked at a few more houses today (nothing we have to have) and watched The Amazing Spider-Man. Listen, I enjoy Spider-Man as much as another superhero fan, but I don't get why they keep showing the same movie over and over again. Hasn't the graphic novel been around for 50 years? They can't find another movie to put together besides showing how he became Spider-Man? Other than that complaint, the movie was fine. Andrew Garfield does a good American accent and I do enjoy Emma Stone. What were you up to this weekend?

Silver Lining ends the Fur or Fang collection and is a silver topcoat glitter with diamond-shaped holographic pieces. Without the diamond pieces, this is just your standard silver glitter, and unfortunately it is a bit difficult to get the diamond pieces out. The formula was quite thick, so you'll probably want to go ahead and thin this out before using it. This was definitely my least favorite of the 4, but it's not bad. I ended up putting it over Cheers to You which is from the 2010 holiday collection because I wanted a polish with quite the bling. It's like the holidays on my nails.

Pure Ice Fang or Fur Collection: Getting Gorgeous

Pure Ice Getting Gorgeous (2 coats)

Happy Saturday! Good news, we put an offer on a house! Hopefully we'll hear their response soon, so I'll keep you guys posted.

Next up from the Pure Ice Fang or Fur collection is Getting Gorgeous which is a blue and purple duochrome that reminds me of a dark Sally Hansen Laser color. The purple in it is very difficult to capture, but it's definitely in there. I love it. This is definitely another one I'd recommend. The formula was also pretty good. Apparently Pure Ice was bought by Revlon, so there have been some changes around Pure Ice. They just released 55 new polishes that you can now find at your local Walmart.

Pure Ice Fang or Fur Collection: Alter Ego

Pure Ice Alter Ego (2 coats)

Woot, it's almost Friday! Work has been extremely hectic since I've been back from Cambodia, so having the weekends to relax has been nice. Oh yeah, and next week is Thanksgiving! Who knew? I can't believe how this year has flown by.

We looked at the fang part of the collection yesterday, so how about the fur/werewolf today? Alter Ego is quite an interesting coffee brown polish with copper glitter and silver flakes. Capturing the silver was a bit difficult, but hopefully you can see it in the bottom picture. I honestly can't believe this is a $2 polish. I have to give Pure Ice props on the collections they have released lately because they have really stepped up their game. The formula was slightly thick, but fine otherwise. I would definitely recommend this one.

Pure Ice Fang or Fur Collection: Glass of Bordeaux

Pure Ice Glass of Bordeaux (3 coats)

Apparently the last Twilight movie comes out this week, so Pure Ice put out a small collection that includes 5 new shades. Here's what they have to say about it:

In 10 days - the final showdown begins!
Be inspired by the movie saga that has everyone obsessed!
Pure Ice has 5 brand new formulated shades for your review.

The end of the story begins with the bright pale skin (Nude Beach) with blazing red eyes (Glass of Bordeaux). A love story that asks a young girl to risk it all. The diamond ring (Silver Lining) and the garden wedding that changed everything. You can't take your eyes off that unforgettable BLUE dress (Getting Gorgeous) and the warmth and complexity of the wolf's imprint (Alter Ego).

Want an out of body experience for your nails? Yes!

Pure Ice 672CP Getting Gorgeous - Blue with purple and blue Iridescent microglitter
Pure Ice 680CP Alter Ego - Rich coffee brown with copper microglitter and silver small shard flakes
Pure Ice 656CP - Nude Beach - Perfect nude with pearl shine and creme finish
Pure Ice 657CP - Glass of Bordeaux - Sheer black with blood red microglitter
Pure Ice 669CP - Silver Lining - Clear polish with silver glitter and silver diamond large shard flakes

Glass of Bordeaux is a gorgeous black color with lots of red microglitter. Seriously, how awesome is this polish? It reminds me a bit of China Glaze Lubu Heels, but the glitter is more a blood red than a burgundy. It was a little sheer, so 3 coats was needed, but the formula was fine. Also, despite having lots of glitter, the removal was really easy which gives it bonus points. You can find this at your local Walmart for around $2. What do you think of this one?

Pure Ice Polish in Electric!

Pure Ice Electric! (2 coats)

Wow, today was so hectic! I didn't even get to eat lunch until 3 o'clock. I find that my productivity decreases exponentially the closer to Friday it gets, hence me being so busy on Mondays.

I have a Pure Ice polish to show you today called Electric! which is a black color with lots of charcoal shimmer. I'm not a huge fan of straight black polishes, but I love when they have a little something extra, just as this dark grey shimmer. The formula was just right and only needed 2 coats. You can find this little gem at your local Walmart store for around $2.

Essence Colour & Go: Grey-t To Be Here

Essence Grey-t To Be Here (2 coats)

Hello hello! I'm sitting here watching the Project Runway All Stars show and the fun colors of the Nine West shoes reminded me to blog today! It's a disco challenge, so there are lots of colors and glitters which I love. I can't believe the weekend is over already. I watched Cloud Atlas last night and I completely hated it. I wish I had those 3 hours back. Did you see it? What did you think?

Grey-t To Be Here is another new color from the Essence Colour & Go collection at Ulta with their new bottles. It has a very light grey base with a surprising splash of pink and orange shimmer thrown in there. It didn't translate well in pictures, but you can definitely see that shimmer on the nail. I don't know how many times I can state that I hate their new brushes, but it really makes the application difficult. I've never had any issues with the application with the old Essence polishes, so I'm just going to blame it on the brush. You can find Essence polishes at Ulta for $1.99.

Chameleon Nail Polish in Fandango

Chameleon Fandango (3 coats)

Happy Saturday! I slept in today and I'm feeling great. I plan to go to Ulta today since I have a $5 off $10 and I may get a polish from the OPI Skyfall collection. We'll see, maybe something else will catch my eye. Do you have any fun plans?

Today I have a polish from a brand I don't have many from and that's Chameleon. They specialize in selling duochromes, which is what I have to show you today. Fandango is a sheer polish with shades of blue and green (perhaps a little gold in there as well). I dunno, it's ok, but I thought I'd like it more than I do. The formula was a bit watery and sheer as it needed a full 3 coats for full coverage. You can purchase these online with free shipping, or at your local Walmart or Rite Aid store.

Sinful Colors Polish in Rain Storm

Sinful Colors: Rain Storm (2 coats)

I can't wait for it to be Friday! I've had some pretty long days this week, so I want to relax this weekend. How have you been?

Rain Storm is another one I picked up during the Sinful Colors $0.99 sale and it's a deep dusty blue creme. You guys know how much I love dusty colors, so you know I love this one. The application was actually pretty good and pigmented as well. If you find this at your local drugstore, I would definitely recommend it.

Julep Nail Color in Leah

Julep Leah (2 coats)

Is it just me, or are people really annoying about politics? Like, really annoying. I don't care if you like or dislike what happened last night, I'm just sick of hearing how you feel about it. I can't even bear getting on Facebook right now because people are just being stupid. Ok, rant over.

I've had this Julep polish in my stash for many months, so I guess it got lost in the shuffle somehow. Leah is a bright green with lots of shimmer. The shimmer isn't in your face, but it is noticeable. Now that it's getting cold here, just wearing bright colors brightens my day. Sad, huh? Anyway, the application and formula was slightly thick and only needed 2 coats for full opacity. I hope your week has been going well!

Sinful Colors Hot Flash Metallics Collection: Moss Have

Sinful Colors: Moss Have (2 coats)

Eww. Yup, I said it. I don't think Moss Have from Sinful Colors looks good on me, and boy is it full of frost. I tried to be as careful as possible with the brush strokes, but it still looks a mess. I knew it reminded me another polish, and I just thought of it: China Glaze Cherish from the Romantique collection. If you're really into mint green frosty polishes, this one is for you.
