Noodles Nail Polish June 2018 Polish Pickup: Purple Dragon

*press sample*

Hi guys! I hope you're enjoying your weekend so far. It's Memorial Day weekend, so I'd like to thank all the men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. Tonight I have a new color from Noodles Nail Polish for the June Polish Pickup. This month's theme is video games, and I've been playing since the Atari days. If you haven't heard about Polish Pickup, let me give you a quick recap. First, definitely join the Polish Pickup Facebook Group. You don't necessarily need to actively participate in the group, but it will give you a look into the polishes coming that month. Do you hate it when a new indie box comes out with multiple brands and you only really love one of the colors? What do you do then? Destash the ones you don't want? Just suck it up and buy it and keep them all because you're too lazy to destash? Well, there's now a group and website called Polish Pickup that will open for suggestions for box themes for the upcoming month. Everyone votes, and the winner becomes the theme for a future box. Any indie brand can participate and has their own specific inspiration picture and polish for that month. All you need to do is go to the Polish Pickup site during the pre-order window (the first Friday-Monday of the month) to make all of your purchases of these exclusive polishes. There's no need to pay for multiple shipping charges; since this is a pre-order, all polishes get sent to Polish Pickup and they send you the polishes you ordered. Yup, it's that simple. Oh, and shipping is a flat-rate of $3 to the US (more for Canada and international). Let's get a closer look at this month's offering.

Color Infinity April 2018 Birds of Paradise Collection Swatches & Reviews: Part I

Hi guys! Honestly, I was feeling a bit burnt out and uninspired last week. Instead of giving you some lackluster work, I decided to take a little time off for some TLC. Tonight I have a new brand on the blog, and Color Infinity has been on my radar since their debut at the end of 2017. Their April collection was inspired by birds of paradise, and I knew I was buying the collection. It's a 5-piece collection with a variety of colors and finishes. Their bottles are 12 mL, but I think they used to be smaller. There is a new collection released each month with a pre-order, and if there are any overpours, they are released at the beginning of the next month's release. These colors are currently not available, but make sure to check the website on May 25th for the overpour. Shall we get a closer look?

Polish Pickup April 2018 Swatches and Reviews: Scofflaw Varnish Life On Mars?

Scofflaw Varnish Life On Mars? (2 coats)

Hi guys! My allergies have been an absolute nightmare since Monday. I legit had Kleenex hanging from my nostrils at work because my nose was just running constantly. It was not a good sight (or feeling). I'm finally starting to feel like myself again, so I figured it was about time to be a little productive. Remember a couple weeks ago I had all but one of my April Polish Pickup polishes swatched? Well, I finally have the final polish, and boy is it a doozy.

If you know anything about Scofflaw Varnish, you know that Finch is a huge David Bowie fan. I have her previous color inspired by him, David Bowie's Bulge (which I also recommend). Since April's theme was space, it was fitting she made another polish inspired by him. Life On Mars? is a reddish orange base with strong blue shimmer and flakes with a scattered holo finish. I love the combination of the red/orange and blue! It's so unexpected, but works so well. I used 2 coats for photos above, and it applied easily. It dried with a tiny bit of texture, but nothing a coat of topcoat won't fix.

From what I can tell, Life On Mars? will be coming back to the Scofflaw Varnish website in July. You see, Polish Pickup is taking the month of July off, and each brand can sell a returning color on their website. So let's hope this one is coming back! Again, you can learn more about the Polish Pickup on their Facebook page and website with flat-rate shipping of just $3. Next month's theme will be video games, so make sure to stop by the Facebook page to get a preview. What will you be buying?

JReine May 2018 Hella Handmade Creations (HHC) Exclusive: Carnival Nights

*press sample*

Hi guys! I have an extra special weekend edition post for tonight. I never really bought anything from Hella Holo Customs previously, but they recently did a full revamp of their business and it's now called Hella Handmade Creations and it's open to everyone. Previously you could only buy and sell through the Facebook group or you'd get in trouble. I didn't like the hassle it all seemed, but now you get a full week to openly purchase these exclusive polishes with no strings attached. It seems very similar to Polish Pickup in that lots of brands release LE polishes and the polish is sent out about 3-4 weeks after the end of the pre-order. I am super excited to feature a new brand to the blog that has a new color releasing this Monday, May 14th. Jill is the mastermind behind JReine Cosmetics, and she has been delightful to work with. Carnival Nights will be on pre-order between May 14-21 and will retail for $13 for a 0.5 oz (15 ml) bottle (no cap).

JReine Carnival Nights (2 coats)

Carnival Nights was inspired by a New Orleans Endymion parade photo and boy does it show! This polish has a bit of everything and I love it! It has a blue/green/purple shift depending on the angle, linear holo sparkles, and silver and gold flake finish. The flakes take over in lower light while the holo finish stands out in sunlight or bright light. The formula was perfect in just 2 coats, and it dried with no texture.

Carnival Nights is one of those polishes that's a must have. It stands out and I received several compliments at work. JReine has a wide variety of other polishes and finishes in her Etsy shop, so make sure to check those out, too! This one will be available this Monday through Monday, May 21st. You can find out more about JReine on their website, Instagram page, Facebook, or Facebook Fan Group

Pepper Pot Polish Wild Planet Collection Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! You know I'm such a slacker, so I know you're surprised I'm blogging 2 days in a row. I just couldn't wait any longer to show you a brand new collection from Pepper Pot Polish inspired by the totally awesome band, the B-52s. I was born in the 80s, and went to high school during the late 90s, so you know I'm well-versed in all things B-52s. I can remember dancing to "Love Shack" during Homecoming and thinking I was so cool. This is what Mackenzie has to say about the collection:

""Wild Planet" is a collection inspired by one of my favorite bands growing up, the B-52s! I wanted a color palette that reflected their silly and eclectic style & is Spring/Summer ready. This collection pairs perfectly with that loud polyester shirt you've had hanging in the closet for the last few decades, and absolutely DEMANDS you drive around the city with your windows rolled down and your music blaring (preferable playing "Rock Lobster").

I think the essence of the B-52s really came through in the 4-piece set she came up with. Before I forget to mention it, my personal favorite song happens to be "Good Stuff."

You know your foot was tapping through the whole thing! Ok, this set is being released at the same time as It's Winston! this Friday, May 11th at noon PST. Twenty percent of all total sales from the store between May 11-May 18 will go toward the Seattle Humane Society, so if you've been waiting to order, please do so for the animals. Shall we get a closer look at these beauties?

Pepper Pot Polish Fundraiser Color: It's Winston! (inspired by @winstonpurrchill)

*press sample*

Hi guys! I spent this past weekend in Chicago for work and I'm happy to be home in my own bed. The blog will be featuring the indie brand Pepper Pot Polish this week, so make sure to stop back to see what Mackenzie has in store for you. Tonight I have a fundraiser polish that was created in partnership with the famous cat Winston Churchill (@winstonpurrchill on Instagram). Mackenzie is a huge cat lover (as am I) and she has graciously offered to donate 20% of all proceeds made in her store between 12pm PST May 11th & 11:59pm PST May 18th to the Seattle Humane Society. It's Winston! will be available as a pre-order during this time, and will not be made again (expect It's Winston! to ship ~2 weeks after the pre-order). If you order the exclusive polish, along with regular store items, all product will be treated like pre-order items and shipped at the later time frame. Shall we get a little more acquainted with It's Winston!?
