Polish Pickup November 2018 Static Lacquer: I Am No Man

*press sample*

Why didn't anyone tell me I was writing October for the Polish Pickup shades I've been posting?! Eep! Yes, technically it's still October, but these are November's polishes. Now that I've reprimanded myself enough, shall we discuss Static Lacquer's inspiration for Bad-Ass Women month? Think back to last month's color "No Man Can Kill Me" which was inspired by the Lord of Morgul. This month's bad-ass woman is Eowyn, also from the Lord of the Rings. While the men were going off to war to fight in Mordor, Eowyn was ordered to stay behind. Being the fearless woman she was, she disguised herself as a man and headed out with Merry to fight. The Witch-King boasted that "no man can kill me," to which Eowyn responded by exposing herself as a woman before killing the beast exclaiming, "I am no man!" In the end, the King of Morgul was indeed killed not by a man, but by a bad-ass woman.

I Am No Man will be available this Friday, November 2nd at 11:00 AM EST through Monday, November 5th at 11:59 PM EST in the PPU store. It will retail for $12 with a cap of 200 bottles. The store is open for viewing and wishlists now, so take your time looking through all the photos.

Static Lacquer I Am No Man (3 coats)

I Am No Man is a pale blush pink crelly base with blue and purple shimmer (which is best seen in my bottle shot), UCC flakes, and silver holo flakes. The shimmer is definitely noticeable on the nail as well, but it just stands out more in the bottle. I must say, Stacy is still the queen of the silver holo flakes! If you need a work-appropriate shade that is actually interesting, this one is for you. While I love my neon polishes and glitter bombs, there are times I just can't wear them. It was a bit sheer, so I used 3 thin coats for this one. That said, it was super easy to apply, dried with no texture, and it wasn't a pain to remove. It's a win all around.

Again, you can pick this up on Friday for $12 and there is a cap at 200 bottles. You can learn more about Static Lacquer on their websiteFacebookGroup, and Instagram pages, while you can find more about PPU on their Facebook page and website.

Polish Pickup November 2018 Noodles Nail Polish: Goddess of Pawnee

*press sample*

Hi guys! Sorry I've been a bit quiet, but I've been enjoying time with my family. We had a great weekend shopping at the outlet mall, watching the new Halloween movie, and having a bonfire (complete with S'mores)! Polish Pickup (PPU) is back this weekend and this month's theme is Bad-ass Women. Natalie from Noodles Nail Polish was inspired by Leslie Knope from her favorite tv show, Parks and Recreation. Goddess of Pawnee will be available at 11:00 AM EST this Friday through 11:59 PM EST Monday night. It will retail for $11 with a cap of 150 bottles.

I am a huge fan of Parks and Rec, and here is a little GIF from the episode in question:

As a little recap, a little girl wanted to join the Pawnee Rangers, but they told her no claiming it was only for boys. They recommended she start her own club, and with help from Leslie, they started the Pawnee Goddesses. Let's just say that being a Goddess was awesome and all the boys wanted to join. Shall we get a better glimpse of this month's polish?

Noodles Nail Polish Goddess of Pawnee (2 coats)

Goddess of Pawnee is a grape crelly base with purple/gold flakes, purple shimmer, and purple/gold glitters. Someone in the PPU group mentioned that Minnesota Vikings fans would love this and they are so right! This one was extremely pigmented and was completely opaque in 2 easy coats. It dried with some texture from the glitters, but a thick topcoat evens everything out.

I think Leslie would be proud to wear this, especially with her Goddess uniform. If you look at the inspiration photo in the collage above, the polish matches the vest perfectly (ignore the coloring in the GIF...it appears to have been warmed up a bit). While making your Wishlist for this month's PPU, keep Goddess of Pawnee in mind, as well as the motto

Noodles Nail Polish Falloween Customs: Fall Trails and Toil & Trouble

Hi guys! My parents are here! I haven't seen them since July so it's a well-needed visit. I think we're going to see Halloween, but other than that, I don't think we have any concrete plans. Tonight I've got another duo that is no longer available. I know, I'm so sorry! This was only available for a week, so I didn't have time to swatch these before they were gone forever. Natalie from Noodles Nail Polish made these for the newer Facebook Group Falloween Polish Lovers. If you are a fan of fall and/or Halloween, make sure to join this group (I'm definitely in there). Shall we get to some swatches?

Stella Chroma Polish Pickup (PPU) Aug and Sept Shades: Follow the Teachings and Poppies

Hi guys! Fall finally hit North Carolina! It's supposed to be in the 60s for the next few weeks. My family is visiting next weekend, and we are already planning on sitting by the warm fire in the fire pit out back. Tonight I've got Stella Chroma's Polish Pickup shades from the past 2 months. I was good this month and didn't buy any, but it was really hard to resist the beauties. Unfortunately these were limited edition and are no longer available, but there are plenty of other unique polishes (and scrubs!) in the Stella Chroma store. Shall we get a closer look?

Vapid Lacquer June 2018 Releases: Calamari Ice Cubes

Vapid Lacquer Calamari Ice Cubes (3 coats)

Hi guys! Long time, no post. It's sort of between fall and winter releases, so I don't have too many polishes to show right now. I do, however, have lots of Zoya polishes to show you in the near future. Their collections are large, so I'll divide those up into 2 posts each to save your internet browser from imploding. I was meaning to have this post up last night, but I had some software issues and couldn't edit my photos. Better late than never, right? The polish I have for you tonight may or may not be available when Vapid Lacquer gets back. In case you didn't know, The Indie Shop happened last weekend in San Antonio which is local for Vapid Lacquer. Apparently they brought a huge truck's worth of merch which sounds delightful. Their website is still down, likely because they're just getting back into the swing of things.

Calamari Ice Cubes is a bright cobalt jelly blue base with purple/blue/green flakies and a sprinkling of scattered holo particles. This one dries shiny and with a squishy look. It was very sheer and needed a healthy 3 coats to get it mostly opaque. I love my flakie polishes, but more so in crelly bases than jellies due to the coverage provided. That said, this is still a beautiful polish.

I'm not 100% sure if this will be back when Krys and the Vapid Team gets back online. That said, most polishes tend to reappear eventually, either in the regular lineup, or during The Purge. Make sure to check out Vapid Lacquer on their Facebook Fan GroupInstagramTwitter, and regular Facebook page

Emily de Molly August 2018 Polish Pickup: Three Words, One Song

Emily de Molly Three Words, One Song (2 coats)

Hi guys! Yay, we have hurricane Michael moving through tomorrow. It will mostly dump a bunch of rain on us, but if you are further south, please be careful. Tonight I've got a polish that is no longer available. I know, I try not to show things that are long gone, but I'll try and give some suggestions to some similar polishes you may be interested in.

Three Words, One Song was the August polish from Emily de Molly which was inspired by the musical Frozen. Truth time: I've never seen Frozen. I was much too old to watch it when it came out, and I'm never around other children, so it just fell to the wayside. Three Words, One Song is a pale purple base with turquoise shimmer, rainbow iridescent flakes, and silver holo microglitter. Look at that huge flake on my middle finger! I love it! The first coat was pretty sheer, but I only needed 2 coats for full coverage. I was honestly expecting to need a third based on what it looked like in the bottle. It dried with a little bit of texture, but was smooth to the touch after a coat of topcoat.

While this one is no longer available, I think you'd really love The Grey Silence, Dancing Through Sunday, or Dreams of Glass from Emily de Molly (and they're still for sale). You can find out more about Emily de Molly on their US/international websiteAU websiteFacebookInstagram, or Twitter pages.

Pepper Pot Polish The Indie Shop (TIS) San Antonio 2018 Limited Editions: The Bitches Duo

*press samples*

Hi guys! I hope your weekend is going well so far. I had to get up at 5:45 AM to drive to Raleigh for a plant giveaway at the JC Raulston Arboretum. It's a great time, but boy is it an early Saturday morning. I came home, ate some breakfast (by that time it was 11:45 AM), then took at couple hour nap. Oops! Tonight I've got Pepper Pot Polish's limited editions for The Indie Shop San Antonio which takes place next weekend. I can't make it, and I'm super jealous of those who can. I attended the Atlanta one the year before last, and I had a wonderful time. It was so special meeting the fine ladies and gentlemen behind the brands and other polish enthusiasts.

Mackenzie has a LE duo for the event, and it's named The Bitches Duo. I do need to mention that if anyone would like a bottle without the word bitch on it, Mackenzie will have labels available that say Witchcraft and Witches Brew. That's a really thoughtful touch, and I appreciate her taking the time to make extra labels and realizing not everyone wants a swear word on their bottle. I happen to cuss like a sailor, so it doesn't bother me, but I can definitely see those with little ones wanting something a little more kid-friendly.  These will be $11 individually, or $20 for the set, and supply is limited. If these sell out, Mackenzie will be taking orders for free shipping, but only for items available at TIS. My guess is that if there happens to be any left over they will be put on the Pepper Pot Polish site

Pepper Pot Polish Bitchcraft (3 coats)

Up first is Bitchcraft which is a mossy green crelly base with purple/blue UCC flakes, gold flakies, and a sprinkling of scattered holo particles. This one is well-balanced with a happy mix of all 3 finishes. It dries with no texture, and I used 3 thin coats for full opacity. Both of these were very easy to work with, which is what I've come to expect from Pepper Pot Polish.

Pepper Pot Polish Bitches Brew (3 coats)

Ok, Bitches Brew is a party on the nails. Just looking at this one in the bottle, I knew I was going to love it. It's a black jelly base with a mix of gold glitter and flakies, and blue/red/purple/gold glitters in square and hexagonal shapes. This one is quite ostentatious, and begs for your attention. I love it. It does dry with a lot of texture from the glitters, so use a thicker topcoat (you may need to double up if you really want a smooth finish). Shown is 3 easy coats.

While I liked both polishes, Bitches Brew stole my heart. Either way, you might as well get the duo and save a couple bucks on each bottle. I mean, you know you want to. While at TIS, please say hello to Mackenzie for me! I've worked with her a few times, and it would be wonderful to finally meet her. It doesn't help we live on the opposite sides of the US. Again, you can get these next weekend at TIS. Make sure to join TIS Facebook Group to find a polish fairy to buy limited edition polishes for you if you can't make it. Also make sure to check out Pepper Pot's other products like lip balm, lip gloss, and body oils. Polish Pickup (PPU) October 2018: Noodles Nail Polish Proclamations

*press samples*

Hi guys! Tonight I have my last Polish Pickup (PPU) shade for October's Villains month. If you are a Harry Potter fan, or a pink polish fan, then this month's Noodles Nail Polish is for you. I just so happen to be both, so I'm super excited to show this to you! PPU starts this Friday at 11 AM EST and goes through the end of Monday. The polish will be $11 and and there is a cap of 150 bottles.

Noodles Nail Polish Proclamations (2 coats)

You all know Dolores Umbridge as the dreadful villain from Harry Potter. While I immensely disliked the character, I enjoyed her overwhelmingly pink outfits. Proclamations is an intense raspberry pink jelly base with pink shimmer, small pink holo glitter, and pink flakes. In other words, pink ALL.THE.THINGS. I expected this to be a bit sheer because it's a jelly, but this was extremely pigmented. I used 2 thin coats and was done. It dried with some texture due to the glitter, so you may need 2 coats of topcoat if you use a thinner one. I used 1 thicker one for photos, and it smoothed everything out nicely.

Natalie knocked this one out of the park. I could definitely see Dolores wearing this with one of her signature pink suit skirts. Again, set your alarm to get this one on Friday because you won't be disappointed. You can find out more about Noodles Nail Polish on their websiteInstagram pageFacebook page, and Facebook Fan Group while you can learn more about the Polish Pickup on their Facebook page and website.

Polish Pickup (PPU) October 2018: Pepper Pot Polish I'm Your Number 1 Fan

*press samples*

Hi guys! Polish Pickup starts this Friday, and I have a couple more polishes to show you. As a refresher, October's theme is Villains. Pepper Pot Polish was inspired by Annie Wilkes (played by Kathy Bates) from the movie Misery, adapted from the Stephen King book from the same name. I never read the book, but I loved the movie. I've watched most of Kathy Bates' movies, and I still enjoy her on American Horror Story. Polish Pickup starts this Friday, Oct. 5th at 11 AM EST and ends at 11:59 on Monday, Oct. 8th. This one will retail for $11, and has a cap of just 80 bottles. I can see this one easily selling out, so I suggest putting your order in as soon as possible.

Pepper Pot Polish I'm Your Number 1 Fan (3 coats)

I'm Your Number 1 Fan is a murky olive green crelly base with orange to blue aurora shimmer, and rainbow iridescent flakes. I used 3 thinner coats for full opacity, but you may be able to get away with 2 depending on your application and/or nail length. It practically applied itself, and dried with no texture.

I'm Your Number 1 Fan is the perfect earthy green for this fall. I love the depth and softness the flakes add. With a cap of only 80 bottles, you may need some ninja fingers to get this one. Make sure to set your alarms for 11:00 AM EST this Friday to get yours. Find out more information about Pepper Pot Polish on their websiteInstagramFacebook, or Facebook Fan Group while you can find more about PPU on their Facebook page and website.
