Polish Pickup April 2019 Swatches and Review: Static Lacquer

Hi guys, I hope you're enjoying your Saturday. I was woken up at 8 AM to several lawnmowers next door. Is it just me, or is that too early? I mean, it's not even summer where it gets too hot in the afternoon to mow. I say it's at least 9 AM on Saturday? Please let me know your thoughts in the comments. Today I'm back with another PPU shade, this time from Static Lacquer. Again, PPU starts at 11:00 AM ET Friday, April 5th and ends at 11:59 PM on Monday, April 8th. Since this month's theme was famous works of art, Stacy was inspired by the piece Goodnight Lava by Alex Pardee which is shown above. It will retail for $12 and there is a cap of 75 bottles.

Static Lacquer Goodnight Lava (1 coat) over Primary White (1 coat)

Yes, this is a flakie topper, so you can use it over any base you'd like. I went ahead and used black and white so you can really see what is going on here. Goodnight Lava is a clear base with silver holo flake and various shades of UCC flakes. Have a shimmer or creme you think would look bangin' with some flakes? No problem, just add a quick layer of this one and you're done. I think this one is a true topper, as I'd imagine it would take quite a few coats to get enough coverage. That said, I found that 1 thin coat was the perfect amount of flakes. My Static's are notorious for applying well, and this one is no different. 

You can purchase this one this coming Friday. If you don't have many toppers in your collection, I definitely recommend them. They can make a world of difference to a polish you don't fully love. Polish Pickup March 2019 Album Covers Swatches and Reviews

Hi guys! For some reason I keep thinking today's Wednesday. I guess I'm just really excited for the March Polish Pickup to begin. This month I was given 3 polishes for review, and I figured it'd be easier to go ahead and post all of them in 1 post than to divide them up into multiple days. Let me know if you like it this way better, or if you want me to break the posts up. This month's inspiration is Album Covers which is something I was really excited to see. Everyone loves music, and I was interested to see what albums I should be checking out. PPU start this Friday at 11:00 AM ET and goes through 11:59 PM ET Monday night. Let's go ahead and take a look at this month's offering. 

Leesha's Lacquer Whatever (2 coats)

Inspiration: Whatever by Adore Delano 

Price: $10

Up first is a new brand to the blog and that's Leesha's Lacquer. This is Whatever which is a black base with tons of aurora shimmer that shifts between red/orange/green with UCC flakes. Yes, it is this shifty in real life. I know the aurora shimmer is quite expensive, so this one is a really good deal. Even though it's a black base, you can't tell because of the shimmer and flakes. I used 2 thicker coats for this one, but you may need 3 if you use thin ones. The formula was smooth, and it dried with no texture. 

Noodles Nail Polish My Favorite Color is You (2 coats)

Inspiration: The Click by AJR 

Price: $12

Cap: 125 bottles

I really like AJR! I haven't listened to the whole album, but my jam is "Burn the House Down" which I hear on SiriusXM's Alt Nation. Noodles Nail Polish's My Favorite Color is You is a blackened indigo crelly base with violet/gold shimmer, rainbow flakies, copper/aqua/lavender glitters, and violet/green/gold color shifting flakes. In other words, this is full of rainbow glitter and flakies. I used 2 normal coats for my photos, and it applied easily. The glitter gives the polish some texture, so make sure to use a thicker topcoat to smooth it all out. 

Static Lacquer On Letting Go (2 coats)

Inspiration: On Letting Go by Circa Survive

Price: $12

Cap: 100 bottles (10 bottles for UK)

Static Lacquer's shade On Letting Go is a medium dusty blue base with teal shimmer, silver holographic flakes, and green to magenta UCC flakes. The queen of the holographic flakes strikes again! This one also applied flawlessly in just 2 coats and dried with no texture. 

All 3 of these are vastly different, and I love them all. One thing they have in common is flakies, and you know my feelings on those. The site goes live on March 1st and goes through March 4th, so you do have a few days to get your orders in. Pepper Pot Polish The Indie Shop (TIS) San Antonio 2018 Limited Editions: The Bitches Duo

Hi guys! I hope your weekend is going well so far. I had to get up at 5:45 AM to drive to Raleigh for a plant giveaway at the JC Raulston Arboretum. It's a great time, but boy is it an early Saturday morning. I came home, ate some breakfast (by that time it was 11:45 AM), then took at couple hour nap. Oops! Tonight I've got Pepper Pot Polish's limited editions for The Indie Shop San Antonio which takes place next weekend. I can't make it, and I'm super jealous of those who can. I attended the Atlanta one the year before last, and I had a wonderful time. It was so special meeting the fine ladies and gentlemen behind the brands and other polish enthusiasts. 

Mackenzie has a LE duo for the event, and it's named The Bitches Duo. I do need to mention that if anyone would like a bottle without the word bitch on it, Mackenzie will have labels available that say Witchcraft and Witches Brew. That's a really thoughtful touch, and I appreciate her taking the time to make extra labels and realizing not everyone wants a swear word on their bottle. I happen to cuss like a sailor, so it doesn't bother me, but I can definitely see those with little ones wanting something a little more kid-friendly.  These will be $11 individually, or $20 for the set, and supply is limited. If these sell out, Mackenzie will be taking orders for free shipping, but only for items available at TIS. My guess is that if there happens to be any left over they will be put on the Pepper Pot Polish site. 

Pepper Pot Polish Bitchcraft (3 coats)

Up first is Bitchcraft which is a mossy green crelly base with purple/blue UCC flakes, gold flakies, and a sprinkling of scattered holo particles. This one is well-balanced with a happy mix of all 3 finishes. It dries with no texture, and I used 3 thin coats for full opacity. Both of these were very easy to work with, which is what I've come to expect from Pepper Pot Polish. 

Pepper Pot Polish Bitches Brew (3 coats)

Ok, Bitches Brew is a party on the nails. Just looking at this one in the bottle, I knew I was going to love it. It's a black jelly base with a mix of gold glitter and flakies, and blue/red/purple/gold glitters in square and hexagonal shapes. This one is quite ostentatious, and begs for your attention. I love it. It does dry with a lot of texture from the glitters, so use a thicker topcoat (you may need to double up if you really want a smooth finish). Shown is 3 easy coats. 

While I liked both polishes, Bitches Brew stole my heart. Either way, you might as well get the duo and save a couple bucks on each bottle. I mean, you know you want to. While at TIS, please say hello to Mackenzie for me! I've worked with her a few times, and it would be wonderful to finally meet her. It doesn't help we live on the opposite sides of the US. Noodles Nail Polish Crazy 4 Crellies Group Custom: Enchanted Forest

Hi guys! I had an extremely busy weekend at work (biggest show of the year), so I've been recuperating. I'm still trying to adjust to the loss of my friend and co-worker, and I've had to suddenly change jobs due to this. I've been under a lot of stress, and blogging isn't #1 my priority. Obviously that doesn't mean I won't be posting, but it might be more sporadic. Tonight I've got a Crazy 4 Crellies group custom from Noodles Nail Polish. As you guys know, I swatch for Noodles, but I wanted to be upfront that I purchased these. Make sure to join the Facebook Group to be able to purchase this duo. 

Noodles Nail Polish Crazy 4 Crellies Custom Enchanted Forest (3 coats)

First of all, how dazzling is that inspiration photo? I'm not shocked Natalie chose this one. Enchanted Forest is a black crelly base with multi-colored glitter and flakies. I used 3 thin coats for my photos, but most would be able to get away with just 2. It dried with texture, so make sure to use a thicker topcoat or 2 coats of a thin one. Natalie is the queen of crellies, so rest-assured, you're getting a high-quality polish with a fantastic formula. She shipped my order next-day, so I'm very lucky to swatch this one for you before it's gone forever.
