Zoya Cosmic Trio 2021 Limited Edition Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hello hello! Zoya has their seasonal collections as well as a few others like the Naturel line that usually comes around once a year. They also do some limited edition shades, and the trio I have to share with you tonight just so happens to be limited. I'm not sure how long these will be available, so if you find any that catch your eye, please don't wait too long to pick them up. This Cosmic Trio contains "holographic shades that are inspired by the unique star clusters of outer space. These astral shades are created with a blend of metallic glitter, and holographic particles in 5 different sizes to give a dynamic effect creating a soft textured finish, but can be paired with Ultra Glossy Top Coat to create a smooth and shiny surface." These retail for $12 each, but if you purchase the set for $36, you get all 3 polishes, 3 of their Z-wide brushes, and their glossy topcoat as well. Swatch time!

Zoya Celestia (3 coats)

Shall we start with my favorite of the 3? Celestia is a silver that leans a bit taupe with blue/purple shifting shimmer and a scattered holographic finish. I just love that pop of shimmer that contrasts from the lighter base. These are a bit sheerer, but they are designed to be that way. I didn't try them as toppers, but a few other bloggers did, and they work great as long as you use really thin coats. They dry with a little texture, but not as much as I expected. I do recommend a thick topcoat to smooth it all out though.

Zoya Eradani (2 coats)

Eradani is a bit different than the other 2. The finish isn't quite the same (the pure holo finish like the others isn't there), but that doesn't mean it isn't beautiful all the same. Eradani is a magenta microglitter with indigo shimmer and a slight holo finish. This one was more opaque, but I found the formula to be a bit gummy, so work slowly.

Zoya Polaris (3 coats)

Last, but not least we have Polaris which is a rose gold microglitter with pink/purple shimmer and a scattered holo finish. I really wanted to love this one, but I just don't think it looks great with my skintone. It's not the polish's fault...I really think this will look beautiful on lots of other people. The formula was good in 3 coats.

There you have it, a short and sweet trio. This is why I love Zoya; most mainstream brands don't do holographic polishes, especially ones with contrasting shimmers. Remember, these can go away at any moment, so pick yours up while you can.

Zoya polishes retail for $12 and you can find out more about them on their websiteFacebookTwitter, or Instagram pages. Keep an eye out for them in your local Ulta store if you want to see the bottles in person before you buy. They often have sales, so check their social media pages periodically.

Noodles Nail Polish Fall 2021 Collection Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend! I spent the time resting up since I traveled for the first time in a year and a half. Honestly things have been quiet around here otherwise. My husband teaches college, and he's been doing online classes exclusively since March 2020. Classes just started up again for the fall semester, and some of his colleagues have in-person classes now. I just want things to proceed as safely as possible. In case you didn't know, Natalie from Noodles Nail Polish is also an elementary school teacher, and I have no idea how she juggles it all. I think every teacher deserves the upmost respect and a huge raise for their hard work.

I know that fall happens to be Natalie's favorite season, so I'm always extra excited to see what she comes up with. This 8-piece collection is full of crellies, jellies, flakies, and toppers so there's something for everyone. This set will be available this Friday, September 10th (my husband's birthday! čÄë) at 5 PM EST. All polishes besides the glitter topper (Crushed Leaves) will retail for $10 each. I'll make sure to mention the price on each set of photos as well. You know this is going to be a long post, so we should get into it.

Polish Pickup September 2021 Trick or Treat Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Wait, you mean to tell me it's September already? And did I hear recently that I should be buying Christmas presents NOW because things are going to be a mess near the end of the year? I'm just not ready for any of that! Please tell me I'm not the only one. I just got back from San Francisco a couple days ago for work, and I also forgot how hard a 3 hour time change messes with your sleep. I haven't been out of the Eastern Time Zone since 2019! This month's PPU theme is aptly Trick or Treat.  Wishlisting is up now on the website and I'm blown away by the variety of inspirations. New to PPU? If so, here's how it works:

Definitely join the Polish Pickup Facebook Group. You don't necessarily need to actively participate in the group, but it will give you a look at the polishes that will be available in the coming month. PPU themes are chosen by the people, often a few months in advance (brands need time to find their inspiration and test their polish). Any indie brand that has been around for at least a year can participate and each has their own specific inspiration picture and polish for that month. All you need to do is go to the Polish Pickup site during the pre-order window (the first Friday-Monday of the month) to make all of your purchases of these exclusive polishes. There's no need to pay for multiple shipping charges; since this is a pre-order, all polishes get sent to Polish Pickup and they send you the polishes you ordered. Yup, it's that simple. Oh, and shipping is a flat-rate of $3 to the US (more for international and they just had to increase the pricing to Canada). Since all orders are pre-orders, shipping will take place about 3 weeks after the end of the pre-order.

PPU starts Friday, September 3rd at 11:00 AM ET and ends on Monday, September 6th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a bottle limit and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone, unless you get lucky and the cap gets raised...which is rare) on the PPU website. Shall we get to some pictures?

Noodles Nail Polish Beach Trio 2021 Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hi everyone! It's a crazy world we are still living in, huh? Just when people thought there was a light at the end of the tunnel, the delta variant had to rear its ugly head. Please be safe, wear a mask, and get vaccinated if you can. On a much lighter note, I have a brand new trio to share that is releasing this week from Noodles Nail Polish. I would love to be at the beach, so at least these polishes can bring me there in spirit. These will be available this Saturday, August 14th, at 12 PM EST. The trio includes a glitter crelly, a micro glitter, and a shifty shimmer shade. Shall we get a better look at these warlocks?

Polish Pickup The Elements (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water) August 2021: Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

How is it August already? August is traditionally my busiest month of the year for my job, and the whole delta variant thing really has me scared, despite being vaccinated. I'll have to be around groups of people, but at least they are requiring social distancing and masks for everyone. After last month's Polish Pickup Rewind, makers are back with all new shades inspired by The Elements (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water).

Recently they also opened a UK site which you can find here. Since all orders are pre-orders, shipping will take place about 3 weeks after the end of the pre-order.

PPU starts Friday, August 6th at 11:00 AM ET and ends on Monday, August 9th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a bottle limit and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone, unless you get lucky and the cap gets raised...which is rare) on the PPU website. The website is now open for wishlisting, so go check out this month's offerings STAT. My wallet hopes I can bring my list down a little bit.

Noodles Nail Polish Colors of the Wind (3 coats)
Inspiration: Pocahontas Song "Colors of the Wind"
Price: $12
Bottle Limit: none

Up first we have Colors of the Wind by Noodles Nail Polish. You know I'm a sucker for glitter and flakie polishes. It's a deep violet crelly (leaning jelly) with matte red/pink/lavender glitters, lavender holo glitters, and violet/red/orange color-shifting flakes. I used 3 thin coats for my photos, and it dries with some texture due to the glitter, so either use 2 coats of thicker topcoat, or a layer of glitter-smoothing topcoat followed by a quick-dry topcoat to smooth it all out. That topcoat will also bring out that squishy look from the polish.

Starlight and Sparkles The Breeze and the Storm (1 coat) over 2 coats of black
Inspiration: the element of air, which can be as gentle as a softly blowing breeze, or as powerful as a howling storm. It can also combine with other elements (water, fire, and earth) to incredible effect. As someone who loves to play element-wielding mages in RPGs, people really underestimate the power and flexibility of air, which is why that is my inspiration for this polish!
Price: $9
Bottle Limit: 150 bottles

Up next we have a beautiful effect topcoat from Starlight and Sparkles. The Breeze and the Storm is a topcoat full of turquoise and teal shimmer, and delicate green and blue translucent micro flecks. This is one of those polishes that will look great over a variety of base colors, but I used black since it shows the shimmer the best. I used 1 coat for my swatches, but 2 coats will intensify the effect even more.

Starlight and Sparkles Five Elements Page Marker Set
Inspiration: the idea of the five classical elements – air, fire, water, earth, and aether.
Price: $11
Limit: 65 sets

You're gonna laugh at me, but the first thing I thought of when I saw the page marker set was the infinity stones from the Marvel Universe. Oops! The Five Elements Page Marker set has five page markers, each with a different colored faceted glass stone, in a silver-colored frame. The five pieces are yellow (air), red (fire), blue (water), green (earth), and clear (aether). These are simple, but simply adorable.

These sets use rectangular paper clips, stainless steel rings, silvery iridescent glass beads, and faceted glass stones. Due to the shape of the paperclip, the charms can’t freely slide all around the paperclip, and I find these type of paperclips to be quite secure, able to reliably hold quite a few sheets, and I usually find they’re less likely to leave paperclip imprints in the page they’re attached to. I use these for my recipe books, organize ink swatch cards, and in books I'm reading.

There you have it, folks! Don't forget to start your wishlist now. The Starlight and Sparkles items have a low cap, so you may want to add it to your list and check out early to make sure it doesn't sell out. What are you picking up this month? Have a great week!

Zoya Easy Neons 2021 Collection Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hi everyone! I'm just now finally getting around to posting some Zoya polishes, and I have a few more to come because I'm behind. On the bright side, Zoya keeps their polishes around (very few limited editions), so these are still available. The Easy Neons Collection is a 6-piece set of neons that claim to be opaque in 2 coats with no special base coats needed and a streak-free application. Neons are notoriously difficult to apply and photograph, but I didn't have too much of an issue with these. Will these live up to their lofty claims? These are available now on the Zoya website for $12 each.

Noodles Nail Polish Summer Collection 2021 Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hello hello! I hope your July has been going well. I left the state for the first time in a year and a half to go visit my husband's aunt in Maryland. I also had my parents visit again...it already feels like I've seen so many people! Tonight I have a whopping 8-piece collection to share with you from Noodles Nail Polish. In true Noodles form, there's a wide variety of colors and finishes, including a polish with NO glitter. I know! Don't worry, the polishes coming in August are still chock full of glitter. This collection will be releasing this Saturday, July 24th at 12 PM EST on the Noodles Nail Polish website. All polishes except for the glitter topper Sun Chaser ($9.50) will retail for $10 each.

This is an extremely picture-heavy post, so we need to get to the good stuff.

Noodles Nail Polish 2021 Anniversary Trio + Patriotic Polish Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hello hello! I know it's been too long since my last post, but I've really been enjoying some of my older polishes lately. I have a few Zoya posts that will be coming up soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Not much has been going on here in NC. The business I work for moved into a brand new building a couple weeks ago, and it was quite the ordeal. Well, it went better than I expected, but it was still a ton of work. Now that the hard part is done, we've been enjoying the newness of the building. Unfortunately my commute is basically the same, but traffic is much heavier now. Boo to that!

Can you believe Noodles Nail Polish is turning 8 this year? Congratulations to Natalie for such an amazing accomplishment. She consistently comes up with new and beautiful polishes, and I hope she continues to do so for years to come. Tonight I've got the new anniversary trio and 4th of July polish to share with you. They will be available this Saturday, June 26th at 12 PM EST on the Noodles website. Most NNP releases are on Fridays, so set your alarms so you don't forget. All polishes will retail for $9.50 or $10 each and I'll label each polish accordingly. This is going to be a picture-heavy post, so we should get going.

Polish Pickup June 2021 Rainbows Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hola! Wait, it's almost JUNE? I swear it was just February, so how are we almost halfway through 2021?! Tonight I've got 3 polishes from this month's Polish Pickup which has the theme of Rainbows. Just a reminder, next month (July) is Rewind which means there will be no brand new polishes available, but each maker can bring back 2 polishes from previous months. One of the items will be available in the PPU store, while the other will be available in their own respective stores. I remember in previous years, many makers will try and have discounted or free shipping since shopping at many stores will rack up more shipping costs (instead of the $3 from PPU).

PPU starts Friday, June 4th at 11:00 AM ET and ends on Monday, June 7th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a cap and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone, unless you get lucky and the cap gets raised...which is rare) on the PPU websiteTime for swatches!

Noodles Nail Polish Adventure is "Up" (3 coats)
Inspiration: the rainbow of balloons amongst the sky in the animated film "Up"
Price: $11.50
Bottles Available: No Limit

website | Facebook Fan Group | Instagram

You won't believe this, but I've never seen "Up." You see, when my husband and I found out that everyone, and I mean everyone, cried uncontrollably in the first 15 minutes of the movie, that made us immediately not want to watch it. Everyone also raves about it, so perhaps at some point we'll get around to watching it. Adventure is "Up" is an aqua blue crelly base with a rainbow of matte hexagonal glitters in various sizes with a touch of silver holo flakes and silver holo glitters. This one is just so whimsical! The formula was perfect, and I used 3 thin coats for my photos. It self-leveled easily, but did dry with a bit of texture from all the glitter. I'd recommend a coat of a glitter-smoothing topcoat followed by a quick-dry topcoat to smooth it all out.

Noodles Nail Polish Sweet Rainbow Dreams (1 coat) over various bases or alone in 3 coats
Inspiration: pastel-colored clouds amongst a moon in a blue sky
Price: $11.50
Bottles Available: No Limit

This is the first month Noodles Nail Polish will have a second topper available. This is Sweet Rainbow Dreams which is a clear based glitter topper with pastel matte glitters in pale peach, pale yellow, aqua, mint, light pink, purple, and periwinkle with a touch of green to purple shifting shimmer, holo flakes, and a very light holo finish. This is one of those toppers that will work with a variety of base colors. I always like to know if a topper can build up to full coverage on its own, and I'm happy to report that it mostly does. You can see some hints of my nail, but the bright lighting causes that. If you really don't want to see the nail, I'd recommend a neutral base such as the Polished for Days Soft Focus Basecoat. It dries with some texture from the glitter, so you'll either need 2 coats of topcoat, or one coat of a glitter-smoothing topcoat followed by your regular topcoat.

Soothing Soul Nail Lacquer Lollipop Guild (3 coats)
Inspiration: the Munchkins in Oz
Price: $12
Bottle Limit: 100 bottles

It's been a while since I've been able to review a polish for Soothing Soul Nail Lacquer, and I'm so happy to swatch Lollipop Guild for you. I've said time and time again how much I loved The Wizard of Oz, so I would have purchased this one regardless. This one is a minty base with silverly pearl shimmer. Does it remind anyone else of a mermaid? I think it would also make a great summer pedicure color. It does dry with some brushstrokes, so don't overwork the final coat (float it a little more). If they really bother you, add a matte topcoat followed by a shiny topcoat and that will limit brushstrokes on the nail. I used 3 thin coats for my photos, but you may get away with 2 depending on your application and nail length. I'd also give an extra minute between coats to help with the brushstrokes.

There you have it, folks! Don't forget to start your wishlist now. The Soothing Soul Nail Lacquer has a cap of just 100 bottles, so you may want to add it to your list and check out early to make sure it doesn't sell out. What are you picking up this month? Have a great week!
