Random Jessica Cosmetics Swatch: Sunrise

Jessica Cosmetics Sunrise (2 coats)

I picked this little gem up at TJ Maxx for a steal. Definitely check out your local TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or Ross for some good finds (or about 50% of the time nothing at all). You might be a little confused like I was when I searched my blog for Jessica Cosmetics Sunrise to make sure I didn't already have this one (I know, I know, I need to make a spreadsheet) to find out I have already reviewed a polish called Sunrise from them. Well, apparently this is really old and they don't sell it anymore so they just reused the name. Anyway, this Sunrise is a bronze copper color with beautiful shimmer. I love this one, even though I know lots of people don't like brown colors very much. I find this one to be more appropriately named for a sunrise than the one for the Awakening Collection which is more of a pink putty color. I've always been a fan of Jessica Cosmetic's formula and this was no exception. Great application and color in 2 coats.

I don't say this very often, but if you like my blog, please feel free to become a Google Follower (side bar), a Twitter follower, a Facebook follower, or an Instagram follower. Comparison Time: Oranges!

Thumb: BB Couture Glistening Sandz
Index: OPI Y'all Come Back Ya Hear?
Middle: Essie Vermillionaire
Ring: Essie Orange, It's Obvious
Pinkie: Zoya Heidi

All 2 coats except for the OPI which is the polish that doesn't really belong (very sheer and jellyish unlike the rest of them). These are pretty close, eh?

P.S. How shoddy was my work (and pictures) back in the day? I'm almost embarrassed to bring some of these back!

Comparison Time: Turquoise Polishes

Thumb: BB Couture Hangover Blues
Index: China Glaze For Audrey
Middle: Jessica Cosmetics Surfer Boyz 'n Berry
Ring-L'Oreal Waters Edge (Essie Greenport?)
Pinkie: Zoya Wednesday

Closest to For Audrey? BB Couture Hangover Blues despite the hidden shimmer and being a little dustier.

OPI 2013 Bond Girls Collection Swatch: Solitaire

OPI Solitaire (3 coats)

Happy Sunday, I hope you had a great weekend. I've been trying to catch up on sleep that I missed while worrying at the conference last week.

OPI Solitaire is my second favorite polish of the set (behind Pussy Galore), and as you can see, they share some similarities. I again thought it was going to be too frosty, but it finishes to a beautiful white base with silver glitter. It just stands out so much against the skin. I feel like I can never really give a good review on the application and formula with the mini bottles, so you may have to check out some other blogs for that information. Overall, I love these Bond Girls polishes. You can find these at your local Ulta store or on their online store.

OPI 2013 Bond Girls Collection Swatch: Vesper

OPI Vesper (3 coats-first picture taken indoors, the second taken outdoors)

I really thought I was going to love all four of these polishes, but I just can't say that with Vesper. You can see the purple near my cuticle, but it mostly looks black. It also lacks that shimmery glitter you usually get with the OPI Liquid Sand. I wore it to my Garden Party a couple weeks back and people couldn't stop talking about it, so I guess others must really love it. The color was so dark that I had to wait a day to take the last 2 pictures outdoors because it was making my camera crazy. In the end, not terrible, but definitely my least favorite of the 4.

OPI 2013 Bond Girls Collection Swatch: Pussy Galore

OPI Pussy Galore (3 coats)

Well, I'm back from my trip to Georgia for a work conference. There were some good times and there were so not-so-great times, but that's to be expected. I got to meet some people there that I will hopefully keep in touch with....you know how it goes. How were things while I was gone?

Ok, I think it's nail polish time. Pussy Galore is the second OPI mini Bond Girl polish I have to show, and I was shocked that it's my favorite. Shocked. I thought it was going to be a frosty mess, but it has such a nice texture with pink glitter and a pearl silver sheen. I dunno, it's hard to describe, but it is so beautiful in real life. I tried to make it as nice in pictures, but I just couldn't quite do it justice. Oh well, you'll just have to trust me. Application and formula were both fine, despite the terrible bottle and brushes on OPI mini polishes. You might be able to get away with 2 coats with the regular bottles.

OPI 2013 Bond Girls Collection Swatch: Jinx

OPI Jinx (3 coats)

TGIF! I leave for Athens, Georgia on Sunday so posting may get a little sporadic. Conferences, ugh.

My mother-in-law got me the mini Bond Girls collection for my birthday and I've been loving them. Up first is Jinx which is a red/orange coral color with gold glitter throughout. While I like this one, I was surprised that a couple others were my favorites which I didn't expect. These are mini polishes so I used 3 coats, but with their regular mop of a brush, 2 coats would probably be fine. The formula was perfect and made for great application. This is a very nice textured matte polish!

Essie Summer 2013 Collection Swatch: Naughty Nautical

Essie Naughty Nautical (3 coats)

Yup, Blogger is giving me troubles with my pictures again. Sorry! Essie Naughty Nautical is a teal blue creme/jelly with the same shimmer as the rest of the set (minus The More The Merrier). I found this had the best application of the set in the fact that you could probably get away with 2 coats instead of the 3 I did. I think this is gorgeous and is tied for my favorite with Sunday Funday which are my picks for the set. I hope you enjoyed them!

Essie Summer 2012 Collection Swatch: The More The Merrier

Essie The More The Merrier (3 coats)

Hey, how's your Tuesday going so far? I have a presentation to give at a conference in a week and a half and I've been stressing about it so much. That also means I'm not sure how much I'll be able to blog next week. Eek!

The More the Merrier is a lime green creme leaning towards chartreuse. Out of the quad that I bought, this is the only creme in the bunch. My photos make it look more neon than it is in real life, so keep that in mind if you're thinking of purchasing it. Like all the polishes, you need to have 3 thin coats for full opacity. Overall, it's a great one for fun in the sun.

Essie Summer 2013 Collection Swatch: Sunday Funday

Essie Sunday Funday (3 coats)

You know I had to wait for Sunday to post Essie's Sunday Funday, right? I had a pretty busy day yesterday at a garden party with my husband's coworkers. I was surprised the rain didn't come! Anyway, how has your weekend gone?

I have the Essie Sunday Funday mini bottle, and as I've said before, I really like their mini bottles. OPI could definitely learn a thing or 2 from them. Sunday Funday is a bright pink coral color with some nice shimmer in it. I mean, it isn't groundbreaking, but I think it looks really beautiful and is perfect for a summer manicure or pedicure. There's nothing like having some coral nails at the beach, am I right? The formula was exactly like Full Steam Ahead: try to use really thin coats or you may get some bubbling action since I had to use 3 coats.

Essie Summer 2013 Swatch: Full Steam Ahead

Essie Full Steam Ahead (3 coats)

Blogger is still being weird with my pictures, so now you can see the imperfections in my nails :( Actually, all polishes the 4 mini cube set needed 3 coats, and I couldn't get thin enough coats so I was getting some bubbling that you can see above. I would definitely try to thin these out before using. Full Steam Ahead (I love the name!) is a lilac polish with very subtle shimmer. I like it enough, but it's not unique enough to be a favorite by any means.

OPI Halloween 2012 Skullicious Collection Swatch: Candlelight

OPI Candlelight (3 coats)

Remember months ago I said I lost Candlelight somewhere between here and Cambodia? Well, I found it! Better late than never, right? It's a little taxi cab yellow creme. I know what you're thinking, it's a yellow polish so the application has to be terrible, right? Well, you're pretty much right. You need 3 really thin coats or it will be a streaky mess. Maybe it'd be better with a full sized bottle. Overall, I like it, but yellow polishes can be a pain.

Spotted: Salon Perfect Neon Collision Collection

My local Walmart now has a huge display of the new Neon Collision collection that features matte glitters (think the popular Floam polish). Check out The Polishaholic for some swatches. I bought Kaboom (the Floam dupe) and I hope to have a swatch up for you soon. I'm getting backed up with polishes from new collections! I'm loving these matte glitter polishes.

Sinful Colors Buff to Bright Collection Swatch: Pistache

Sinful Colors Pistache (2 coats)

How fresh is this green color? It is definitely a pistachio green color, and boy do I love me some pistachios! Why must they be so expensive? I like to get the ones that are already shelled because that's how lazy I am, and I think I am getting a better deal. Ok, back to the polish. This recently came out with the Buff to Bright collection that I found at both Walgreens and Rite Aid for $1.99. I love this one, it's just perfect, but a little on the thick side so add a little thinner just in case.

Zoya Summer 2012 Surf Collection Swatch: Kimber

Zoya Kimber (2 coats)

Kimber is a little bit of red and a little bit of pink, but it definitely isn't coral. It has a bit of a jelly finish which is why you can see some visible nail line on a few nails. No worries, I couldn't see it it in real life; it's just because I had so much light hitting it from behind. If this bothers you, a third coat would definitely cover it completely. I adore the gold shimmer in this one. You guys know I hate hidden shimmer (what's the point?!), so I'm glad to say that the shimmer in Kimber does stand out. Overall, this is a fun summer polish that would look great on the fingers or toes.

Zoya Spring 2013 Lovely Collection Swatch: Piaf

Zoya Piaf (3 coats)

What an exciting day! I went to the Raleigh Pen Show where we got several fountain pens and supplies (if interested, check out my husband's pen/ink blog and our haul here). You can get ink in any color of the rainbow just like nail polish.

When I first saw the Zoya Lovely collection, I wasn't blown away, but Piaf piqued my interested. It's an interesting yellow color with a hint of mustard and green with lots of silver shimmer. It may not look great on all skintones for sure. I found it gave me a bit of lobster hands in pictures, but other than that it looked fine. If you want a unique yellow color, Piaf may be for you. Since it is a yellow, it does have some application and formula issues. It was a bit thick, but also needed 3 coats for full coverage so definitely try to make thin coats. Overall, this is a cool one.
