Tonight I have the other Bellaluna Cosmetics polish called Holiday Glimmer. To be honest, this one is a bit too sheer for me, so I had to layer it over a pink creme from Jessica Cosmetics. You may be able to get it opaque with about 4 coats, but I didn't want to go there. The application and formula were wonderful with the 2 coats I used. Despite being sheer, the beautiful scattered holo shimmer really helped this light pink polish pop! You could probably layer this over a lot of different polishes to make some interesting combinations.

TGIF! If you celebrate Easter, happy Good Friday! Easter is my favorite holiday because it's finally Spring, you get to eat candy, eat food with family, and not have the whole ordeal of getting gifts for others (which is nice, but anxiety inducing). 

Angelyn was kind enough to include a few samples with my order, and tonight I have Purplemint For Your Thoughts and Fashion (Mg)azine which comes from the Elements of Style collection (Fashion (Mg)azine only). Neither of these are thermals, so I figured I'd show them together. I made a big mistake with Purplemint For Your Thoughts. I thought it was going to be opaque enough on its own, but I really recommend you use a base with this one. It's pretty much covered in 4 coats, but working with the glitter would be much easier with a base and you also save some polish while doing so! It's an eggplant purple jelly with circular, square and hexagonal blue, white and green glitter. It's lovely, but now you know to layer it! 

I learned my lesson for the second polish, Fashion (Mg)azine. I used Jessica Cosmetic's Sharktooth as a base which is a stark white creme and was perfect with this polish. It has a white jelly base with various pastel glitters in circle, square and hexagonal form. When I wore this, I got multiple compliments stating how Eastery it looked and I totally agree. It's just so cheerful and the glitter really stands out. Overall, I wish I didn't have to wear undies, but the glitters in these make up for that fact. Oh, and the whole science aspect of this polish has me swooning with magnesium (which burns white with flame....get it?).

OPI 2014 The Muppets Most Wanted Collection Swatch: Let's Do Anything We Want

I have only 1 more polish to show you from the Muppets Most Wanted collection, but this is the only glitter I bought. Let's Do Anything We Want is a pink glitter with small white hexagonal glitter and really large white squares. From my swatches over a bright pink, the pink glitter almost looks coppery, but nevertheless, it's pink. The white squares really make the polish and luckily enough, you don't have to fish them out because they are pretty abundant. The formula and application were great with dense glitter payoff in 1 coat. I like this one! What do you think?

Happy Saturday! I have the final 2 polishes from the Coral Symphony collection and they both are very pretty colors. The first polish is Conch Shell which looks similar to Starfish Glow, but its softer cousin. When I think of the inside of a conch shell, I usually think of a paler pink, but this works. Out of all of the polishes, I found this one to be slightly harder to work with because it wasn't as self-leveling, but it wasn't too bad. 

I find the name Ocean Bloom to be weird because when I think of an ocean bloom, I think of green (my old lab used to work on harmful algal blooms). Everyone is trying to get on the radiant orchid bandwagon, and this is their interpretation. It's a very soft lavender creme that got me at least 3 random compliments on. When you do your nails so often, people often take it for granted and don't give compliments anymore. Anyway, this one is great with perfect application and formula.

TGIF! We had an ice storm last night so I'm working from home today. Driving on snow-fine. Driving on ice-forget that! Driving on snow and/or ice in the South-no way! Am I right here? Oh, and you won't be able to find any bread or milk in the grocery stores, either.

Whoa, Sharktooth. This is a stark white creme that you could easily confuse with whiteout. Whites, like yellows, are notoriously a bit hard to work with. This one was streaky on the first coat, but smoothed out nicely with the second. The formula was a bit thick, and I recommend waiting a couple minutes between coats. Other than that, this is a great white to wear as a base for glitters or as underwear for your sheers.

Tropical Sunset is a red toned coral creme that has been popping up all over this spring. Usually these corals are more for summer, but I like that the companies have said, "Forget pastels, give me brights!" This one is really beautiful, and would look good on anyone. The formula and application were both wonderful with only 2 coats. Enjoy your weekend!

Heck yeah, it's almost Friday! It's been a bit of a bad week, so having it over with will be a relief. 

I have the Coral Symphony collection to show you, starting with 2 of my favorites. You've seen the first polish in my first Nails & Nibs Wordless Wednesday called Starfish Glow which is a bold medium pink that would look great on any skin tone. As always, Jessica Cosmetics has some of the best formulas in the industry. It's a shame they are harder to find because I think they are such a great company with great colors. 

The second polish is definitely on trend right now, with most collections coming out with a cantaloupe melon creme. Monsoon Melon is so beautiful and reminds me of an orange creamsicle. I haven't had the chance to compare this to OPI's Where Did Suzi's Man-Go, but I think this one may be a bit darker. Great application and coverage in 2 coats. We're off to a good start!

Wordless Wednesday Nibs & Nails: Jessica Cosmetics Starfish Glow & Lamy Safari

Hey folks,
My husband and I both have blogs, and Elaine at JetPens suggested that we combine our powers for a weekly feature. Well, here it is! Nibs & Nails will generally be part of the Wordless Wednesday blog-trend, but I want to introduce the feature this time. If you like pens, ink or office supplies, go see Inkdependence. From now on, I hope to show polishes that I either blogged about a long time ago and the swatches suck, or any just random one I don't feel like fully reviewing (unlike today which I will eventually review). This is Jessica Starfish Glow from the Spring 2014 collection on the nails, and my turquoise Lamy Safari. It was my first fountain pen, and it's what my husband used to hook me on these fantastic things.

Happy Halloween Manicure with SinfulColors Black Magic and Skulls

Happy Halloween! Since we finally have a house, we're hoping to have trick-or-treaters tonight! If not, more candy for us. If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you may have seen my picture of these rhinestone skulls I got from my local nail supply store. Of course I had to wear it for my Halloween manicure. Here I am showing SinfulColors Black Magic over Jessica Cosmetics's Velvet & Pearls. Black Magic was quite sheer and I found it to be a better charcoal grey and orange glitter topcoat over my new favorite black. Sorry I put the skull in the direction I did. I put it so that I would be able to see it all day without thinking about the blog. Hopefully the first picture puts it into perspective. Please have a happy and safe night, and make sure to do the Monster Mash and eat some candy!

You guys know that I love The Ohio State Buckeyes, so you can tell where I was going with this last Jessica Cosmetics Glitzy glitter polish. Sizzle is almost a pinkish red glitter with many different sizes of glitter. The glitter payoff was probably the best of the collection and you only need 1 coat if you're going to use it as a topcoat. This combination also looks a little like a holiday combination, right? This is another glitter that you don't have to dab on which is great. Overall, there are some fun glitters in this collection. Not all of them hit the spot, but at least these companies are trying, and I never experienced any bleeding or taco glitter.

I leave for Chicago tomorrow! I will be working at the national lab there for the next 4 days, but I hope to post some polishes ahead of time for your viewing pleasure. It's supposed to be 45 degrees there tomorrow; I don't know if I can deal with this. I am definitely bringing my winter jacket since I think 65 degrees is freezing right now!

I wanted to find a base polish that would complement the patriotic colors going on in Star Spangles so you could use this one other times of the year instead of just the 4th of July. I used it over Zoya's Darcy and think it really distracts the fact that this is a holiday polish don't you think? I loved the application in this one; the glitter payoff was great and you could use full strokes without having to dab the glitter on. This is a fun polish that I think you can make work at different times of the year if you really try.

Quick post tonight because I have been busy sampling and trying to get ready for a scientific trip to Chicago to run this huge (and expensive) machine. 

Up first is Sparkles which is a holographic glitter topcoat that has some grey and green undertones to it with some larger hexagonal holo glitter pieces. I think this looks so awesome over Maybelline Mod Moss! You have to fish the larger glitter out, but it wasn't that big of a deal to me because the fine glitter is so awesome! The formula was great, and you could use regular strokes with this one.

Glam It Up is a blue/purple and silver hexagonal glitter polish in a clear base (it has larger and smaller glitters). This one is one of the weaker glitters of the collection in my opinion. The glitter payoff was fine, but it was a little boring compared to the other ones. The application was also fine with this one, even though I was expecting it to be a pain.

Black and white glitter polishes have been all the rage lately, and Jessica Cosmetics jumped on the bandwagon. Bling in Black is a black and white hexagonal glitter polish in a clear base. I like the simplicity of this; like the fact that the glitters are the same size. The glitter payoff was also impressive since I'm showing only 1 coat here. It's not the best over Havana Dreams because the white glitter gets a bit lost in the shuffle, but I think this would work over a wealth of colors.
