Jessica Cosmetics 2013 Glitzy Collection Swatch: Bling in Black

Jessica Cosmetics Bling in Black (1 coat) over 3 coats Sephora by OPI Havana Dreams

*press sample*

Black and white glitter polishes have been all the rage lately, and Jessica Cosmetics jumped on the bandwagon. Bling in Black is a black and white hexagonal glitter polish in a clear base. I like the simplicity of this; like the fact that the glitters are the same size. The glitter payoff was also impressive since I'm showing only 1 coat here. It's not the best over Havana Dreams because the white glitter gets a bit lost in the shuffle, but I think this would work over a wealth of colors.

Sephora by OPI Urban Ballerina Collection Swatch: Shiny Dancer

Sephora by OPI Shiny Dancer (3 coats)

So the Autumn Fest sort of got rained out. We went and got a few things, but it was still a bit of a washout. Talk about disappointing. I also saw Don Jon (I love JGL), but it wasn't my favorite movie. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the greatest. Oh well, I still love Joseph Gordon-Levitt :-D

Shiny Dancer is a polish that's been around forever (it was from a 2011 collection), and it was a spring collection which is weird because it feels very holiday to me. It's a steely blue metallic color that is really pretty, but a little watery. I used 3 coats, but you could probably get away with 2. These are going like hotcakes, so if you like it, better go to your local Sephora store to see if they still have it.

Sephora by OPI Swatch: I Only Shop Vintage

Sephora by OPI I Only Shop Vintage (2 coats)

We got 2nd place at trivia last night! If I had more confidence in my answering the final question, we would have gotten first. Oh, and you may have noticed some changes on the blog. It's still under construction, so please bear with me and I hope you like it!

Another polish from the 3 for $10 Sephora by OPI polishes I bought was I Only Shop Vintage which is a caramel/taupe color with tons of gold shimmer. Usually OPI polish names are terrible, but I think this one is quite appropriate. It only needed 2 coats for opacity, but was ever-so-slightly thin in formula. They still had several different golds to choose from, but I got this one because it didn't remind me of a holiday gold. Overall, I really like this one.

Sephora by OPI Havana Nights Collection Swatch: Havana Dreams

Sephora by OPI Havana Dreams (3 coats)

In case you're forgotten, Sephora is getting rid of their Sephora by OPI polishes and introducing their own brand. For now, you get get these babies for 3 for $10 which is pretty awesome since they normally run for $9.50 each. The last Sephora store I went to still had a lot of polishes, so check out your local store for a good deal.

When the Havana Nights collection came out, I was really interested in the polishes, but with the price point being what it was, I didn't buy any. Havana Dreams is a light sky blue creme that is a bit sheer. I used 3 heavy coats for the swatches above and the formula was a little runny. This is actually the color I wanted the least of the collection due to how pedestrian it is, but it's still a nice blue, I suppose.

Sephora by OPI Bohemian Brights Collection: Happy Earth Day to Me

Sephora by OPI Happy Earth Day to Me (2 coats)

Happy Thursday! I'm a little torn as to whether or not this week has gone by quickly. Monday and Tuesday dragged, but Wednesday and today flew by!  Do you have any weekend plans? I have a wedding to go to for a lovely friend of mine in Virginia this weekend. Despite being so close to North Carolina, I don't get the chance to head that way very often.

Quick question: why are Sephora by OPI polishes $1 more than regular OPI polishes? It boggles my mind why OPI thinks people need to spend that much on a polish (hence why I only own a few of them). I did, however, fall in love with Happy Earth Day to Me which is an army green/brown shimmer. In the sea of neon or pastel colors right now, I was actually drawn to this one. Sure, it's a bit of a poopy color, but I still like it. It was very opaque with full coverage with 2 coats and had a slightly watery formula.

Sephora by OPI: Caught with my Khakis Down

Sephora by OPI Caught With my Khakis Down (2 coats)

I was hoping to show the final Sinful Colors polish tonight, but I just realized that the pictures are still on the memory card....and my camera still hasn't been unpacked. Oops! I'll show that one as soon as more of our crap has been put away.

I've been waiting a few weeks to show today's color and I hope you love it as much as I do. It's quite rare for me to purchase polishes from Sephora by OPI due to their high price ($9.50), but I just had to get my hands on Caught with my Khakis Down. It comes from the Safari Luxe collection and is a dusty khaki green polish that is just gorgeous. Unlike the regular OPI polishes, the Sephora by OPI brushes are not the Prowide ones which may make some happy (not me, I actually like the wide ones). The application and formula was superb, which I would expect from a polish retailing for over $9. Are you a fan?

Sephora by OPI: Can U Keep a Secret

Sephora by OPI Can U Keep a Secret (3 coats)

Again, I'm sorry for the lack of posts lately, but things haven't been going so well for me lately. I won't get into it because it has nothing to do with the blog, but just so you know, you guys have been on my mind.

I bought Can U Keep a Secret from Sephora by OPI a few months ago when I made an online order. This one was on sale (I think it was $5), and it is an off-white jelly polish that looks a bit like custard. I dunno, it's just really weird looking. I think it would make a nice base for a french manicure, but not for a full manicure. Unsurprisingly it was quite sheer and 3 coats are shown here, but there are still some bald spots if you look closely. Even though it was on sale, I wouldn't recommend this one. What do you think?

Sephora by OPI topcoat: Sparkle Me Silver

Sparkle Me Silver Topcoat over Quirius' Kiwi Fruit

Last week I went to Sephora with my husband (yes, he's one of those guys who comes in with me), and he insisted I have this polish. I told him if he buys it, I'll wear it. Of course I would have bought it for myself because I love glitter, especially bar glitter, but he didn't have to know that. Anyway, unlike most topcoat glitters, the one is pretty packed with glitter. I had a few bare spots, so this is technically 1 and a half coats. I haven't really done any gradient nails but I think this would be really awesome for that. And come on, yellow nails with BAR GLITTER? You can't get much better than that.

Sephora by OPI: Three Way Mirror

Sephora by OPI Three Way Mirror (2 coats)

Three Way Mirror is part of the Sephora by OPI core collection can, of course, be found in stores or online at Sephora. It is a medium rosy pink creme that is really pigmented and only needed 2 coats to be opaque. While I think it looks nice on me, I think it may look better on darker skin tones. I really do like OPI polishes, but I think they are overpriced at $9. I ended up buying this one on sale for $5 and I was happy with that.....but $9? That's even more than the regular OPI line costs! So why do they cost more? For a different shape bottle and a skinny brush? I just don't get it. Anyway, I think Three Way Mirror is a nice dusty rose that would be work/wedding (since summer is on its way!) appropriate.

Sephora by OPI: Just a Fairy-Tail

Sephora by OPI Just a Fairy-Tail (3 coats)

I just wanted to show you a second Sephora by OPI color I received 2 weeks ago. I obviously got it at Sephora, and it was on sale (I don't know if it still is or not). Just a Fairy-Tail is a silver foil that has a ton of silver and blue shimmer. The only problem with the polish is that is really sheer and needed at least 3 coats to be opaque. Also, it was quite a runny polish, but I didn't have too big of a problem with the application.

Sorry this is so short, but I am watching the finale of Project Runway! Yay!

Sephora by OPI: Ms. Can't Be Wrong

Sephora by OPI Ms. Can't Be Wrong (2 coats)

My very kind friend Ashley bought this polish for my birthday (you may remember her for her guest blogging on here). Ms. Can't Be Wrong is in the core collection of the Sephora by OPI polish. I just love this one! It's a purple color that leans toward berry. Upon first glance you may think this is a creme, but hopefully you can see the slight shimmer throughout the polish from the bottom photos. The shimmer doesn't exactly match the polish, but it doesn't really stand out too much. Either way, it's awesome. Thanks again, Ashley! It was very pigmented and only needed 2 coats and the formula was just fine.
