Polish Pickup (PPU) October 2018: Pepper Pot Polish I'm Your Number 1 Fan

*press samples*

Hi guys! Polish Pickup starts this Friday, and I have a couple more polishes to show you. As a refresher, October's theme is Villains. Pepper Pot Polish was inspired by Annie Wilkes (played by Kathy Bates) from the movie Misery, adapted from the Stephen King book from the same name. I never read the book, but I loved the movie. I've watched most of Kathy Bates' movies, and I still enjoy her on American Horror Story. Polish Pickup starts this Friday, Oct. 5th at 11 AM EST and ends at 11:59 on Monday, Oct. 8th. This one will retail for $11, and has a cap of just 80 bottles. I can see this one easily selling out, so I suggest putting your order in as soon as possible.

Pepper Pot Polish I'm Your Number 1 Fan (3 coats)

I'm Your Number 1 Fan is a murky olive green crelly base with orange to blue aurora shimmer, and rainbow iridescent flakes. I used 3 thinner coats for full opacity, but you may be able to get away with 2 depending on your application and/or nail length. It practically applied itself, and dried with no texture.

I'm Your Number 1 Fan is the perfect earthy green for this fall. I love the depth and softness the flakes add. With a cap of only 80 bottles, you may need some ninja fingers to get this one. Make sure to set your alarms for 11:00 AM EST this Friday to get yours. Find out more information about Pepper Pot Polish on their websiteInstagramFacebook, or Facebook Fan Group while you can find more about PPU on their Facebook page and website.

Jesse's Girl Cosmetics - Julie G Bohemian Dreams Collection Swatches and Reviews: Part I

*press samples*

Hi guys! I tried getting this post up last night, but it ended up taking me longer to edit the photos. Seriously, I think I spend the most time editing photos these days. Yesterday was Labor Day and I had a relaxing 3-day weekend. Tonight I have a new limited edition collection from Jesse's Girl Cosmetics called Bohemian Dreams. The bottles are the same, but the caps have a faux wood grain finish over the top. I should have taken a picture of the bottle, but of course I forgot. If you look closely at a few of the photos you can get a sense of what it looks like. While I like that they did something a little different to the bottle, I must admit that it's not my favorite look and it doesn't look very realistic. But still, for $3.99 a bottle, I'm not going to be picky. You should be able to find these at your local Rite Aid store or on the Jesse's Girl Cosmetics website. If you happen to like all of the colors, you can catch the whole set for just $9.95. So yeah, if you like 2-3 of the colors, you may as well buy the 6-piece collection and gift the others. Shall we get started?

Right on the Nail ~ Heather's Hues Swatches and Reviews: Feelin' Lucky? and Love Song #9

Hi guys! Who has plans for this 3-day weekend? Don't forget, no mail on Monday. It's Pizza Friday yet again, so I figured I'd get this post up before I go into a food coma. Tonight I have polishes from a brand I talked about a couple weeks ago called Heather's Hues. After talking to the Heather, I found that she lives close to where I work! We're hoping to have a NC meetup sometime soon (let me know if you live in NC). I ordered these polishes during her $5 sale, and she still has some available if you're interested. Ok, on to swatches!

Right on the Nail ~ Frenzy Polish Prototype Swatches and Reviews

Hi guys! Tonight continues the terrible shows I watch on Mondays as Dancing With the Stars comes back on. I don't really have anyone I want to watch this season, but I'll still give it a chance. Tonight I have 2 polishes you won't find anywhere else since they came as a part of the mystery grab bag. Even though you can't buy them, I wanted to give you guys a chance to see more of what Frenzy Polish has to offer in their discounted grab bags. Shall we get started?

Right on the Nail ~ KBShimmer Fall 2015 Collection Swatches and Reviews: I've Seen Sweater Days and Open Toad Shoes

Happy Friday! I leave for Minneapolis tomorrow and I have the usual airport jitters. I guess it is just the stress of getting there on time, fretting about not forgetting something, and the conference I'm going to. Luckily I have no issues with flying itself. Anyway, I am trying to spend some time tonight setting up some drafts so you guys have something pretty to look at while I'm away. I've Seen Sweater Days and Open Toad Shoes are the final 2 KBShimmer polishes I have to show you, so follow me after the break for more swatches.

Right on the Nail ~ Rescue Beauty Lounge Nail Polish Reviews and Swatches: Motorini and Oliveto

It's another rainy Saturday here in North Carolina, and it's supposed to get even colder as the weekend passes. Since we are well into November (!!) I need to start finalizing some Thanksgiving plans. Do you know what you are doing yet? Tonight I have 2 more Rescue Beauty polishes from the Italian Summer collection to show you. Shall we get to it?

Pahlish Voyage to the East Collection Swatch: Yu Lan Festival

Pahlish Yu Lan Festival (2 coats)

*press sample*

I tried Pahlish, a popular indie brand, awhile back and enjoyed the polishes I received. I haven't bought many indie brands lately because the ones I want are usually out of stock, or there are a million collections and I can't keep up. The great thing about Pahlish is that Shannon restocks every Friday evening at 7 PM central time at www.pahlish.com and you can find some at Llarowe.

I have 2 polishes to show, the first being Yu Lan Festival which is in between an olive and grassy green color with tiny pink flakes and purple shimmer. The shimmer and flakes are not in your face, so other people will see mostly the green, but you can enjoy the other additives that make it so special. The formula and application were perfect in only 2 coats. The cost is $9 which may turn a few of you away, but these are hand made polishes that are not made in big factories to bring prices down, so I can understand the cost. Overall, this is a beautiful color with a little something extra.

China Glaze Hologlam Collection Swatch: OMG A UFO

China Glaze OMG A UFO (2 coats)

How was your weekend? The garden party was exhausting, but it was well-received. Other than that, we ran some errands and napped. I know, exciting stuff.

I have some of the Hologlam collection from China Glaze that I got for like $2 from a Sally's sale. Sorry I only have 2 pictures of OMG A UFO, but I seem to have lost one of my usual ones. I must admit, I was a bit disappointed in some swatches of the holos from certain bloggers. Some even just looked metallic and not holo at all! I'm not saying my lighting and camera skills are the best, but clearly these are (slightly) linear holographic polishes. No, they aren't anything like the OMG collection, and the price point China Glaze put on these was insulting, but they aren't terrible. OMG A UFO is an awesome olive green holo. Word of warning about these: they don't work well with every basecoat. Just the other day I tried using the Revlon gelcoat basecoat and you couldn't go over the nail twice without it completely balding the area. It did work fine over Gelous and Orly Bonder though. With the right basecoat, only 2 coats was needed.

Julep February 2013 Bombshell Maven Box: Laura, Freedom Polymer Topcoat and Oxygen

Julep Laura (2 coats)

I just finished Downton Abbey-HOLY CRAP! No spoilers here, but HOLY CRAP!

The last Julep polish I have to show is Laura which is an olive khaki creme. I just love dusty green colors like these. I found the formula and application to be great, but the dry time was a bit long.

I mention drying time (I usually don't because I don't have time to let my polishes dry and always use quick dry topcoats) because the new topcoat that came with the box, called Freedom Polymer, needs to have the polish dry before application. It's supposed to be like a gel topcoat for longer wear, but I found that my nails still had some chipping after 2 days. With the fact that it's not quick dry, this is not a topcoat for me. Also included is a treatment called the Oxygen Nail Treatment which is supposed to make your nails stronger, thicker and smoother. I've been using this since I got the box and I have seen no changes in my nails. Overall, I really like the colors in the box, but the other nail products seem to be a big pass for me. Have you tried these? What were your thoughts?

On another note, have you seen the new Hard Candy polishes that will be released at Walmart? If not, head over to their Facebook page for some pictures of their new awesome colors...even though the bottles look a bit small.

China Glaze Hunger Games 2012 Collection: Agro

China Glaze Agro (2 coats)

Hola! How was your day? I spent a portion of mine trying to find a way to get these Nalgene bottles to hold a vacuum. I know absolutely nothing about compression tube fittings, so dealing with this has been quite a challenge. I wish I could go to a store and hand them over an example and have them just get what I need, bu alas, this is not possible. Of course Lowe's or Home Depot doesn't have items like these. Sorry for the rant! :-D

I love you, Argo! I love your olive green color that has lots of gold shimmer. This is another shade I will rock through fall, for sure. Anyone know why this one is called Argo? I know it has to do with Jason and the Argonauts, but I didn't get the reference to the Hunger Games. I'm dumb, and spelled the polish wrong. Thanks for correcting me, Barilla! Apparently it's for the agriculture district.

Zoya Fall 2011 Mirrors Collection: Yara

Zoya Yara (2 coats)

*yawns* I love Daylight Savings Time (hooray for more sunlight), but I've been a bit sleepy the past few days. Back when I used to live in northwest Ohio (Defiance, OH what!), Daylight Savings was the best because it felt like it was dark and dreary the whole winter and spring was on the way. Has it affected your sleeping schedule?

When I saw swatches of the Zoya Mirrors collection I fell in love with several of the polishes. I love the fine glitter in the polishes that are still easy to remove. Yara is an olive green color with lots of gold glitter (it's either a fine glitter or chunky shimmer...take your pick) and it is gorgeous. If you don't own it, I recommend it to you. Despite my somewhat crappy application, it applied like a dream. Overall, nothing negative to say here.

Zoya Intimate Spring 2011 Collection: Gemma

Zoya Gemma (2 coats)

I am a huge fan of the video game Fable. Whenever I hear the name Gemma I immediately think of the game because there are several townspeople with the name. In this case Gemma is a gorgeous olive green polish with blue/purple shimmer. I love everything about this one, except for the fact that sometimes the blue/purple finish is a bit faint, unless you're really looking for it. That's ok, I'll let it slide :-D Application and finish was no problem, either. This is the last of the $3.99 Zoyas from Ulta. What did you think of the Intimate Collection?

If you like these polishes, you can still purchase them on the Zoya online store

OPI Touring America Fall 2011 Collection: A-Taupe the Space Needle

OPI A-Taupe the Space Needle (2 coats)

I'm officially back! I'm still fighting some jet lag (my cat waking me up every morning giving me love at 5 in the morning doesn't help). Do you remember way back in the day where I was reviewing the OPI Touring America Collection? Well, since then, the Muppets collection has been released from OPI. It seems people either love or hate this one. I don't own any yet, but perhaps I will get the chance to review a few.

When I saw A-Taupe the Space Needle in the bottle, I was pretty underwhelmed. I thought it was going to be another boring light brown creme, but as you can see, when it's on the nail, the olive green color in it really comes out. It also dried a shade darker than the bottle color. I would definitely recommend this one.

Thanks for bearing with me the last few weeks. I hope things will get back to normal soon!

China Glaze Fall 2011 Metro Collection: Westside Warrior

China Glaze Westside Warrior (2 coats)

Can you believe it's Sunday already? Why do weekend days have to fly by? I've spent a portion of my weekend looking at new cars, and so far I'm leaning towards a Toyota Corolla because I can get a 2011 for pretty cheap. I dunno, it's so hard replacing a loved car :-(

Just ask my husband, I am a huge fan of The First 48. Just seeing the name of this polish, Westside Warrior, makes me think of something that'd be on the show. I'm so glad China Glaze added an olive green creme to their collection because I'm loving them. As you can see from the picture, the polish dried darker than the bottle, but that's fine. This one was also a favorite of the collection, so if you're looking to get any of these, I'd recommend this one.

Sephora by OPI: Caught with my Khakis Down

Sephora by OPI Caught With my Khakis Down (2 coats)

I was hoping to show the final Sinful Colors polish tonight, but I just realized that the pictures are still on the memory card....and my camera still hasn't been unpacked. Oops! I'll show that one as soon as more of our crap has been put away.

I've been waiting a few weeks to show today's color and I hope you love it as much as I do. It's quite rare for me to purchase polishes from Sephora by OPI due to their high price ($9.50), but I just had to get my hands on Caught with my Khakis Down. It comes from the Safari Luxe collection and is a dusty khaki green polish that is just gorgeous. Unlike the regular OPI polishes, the Sephora by OPI brushes are not the Prowide ones which may make some happy (not me, I actually like the wide ones). The application and formula was superb, which I would expect from a polish retailing for over $9. Are you a fan?

CQ Nail Polish: Golden Green

CQ Golden Green (2 coats)

I don't know if I've mentioned it recently, but I've been working on a website for my new lab. My good friend was kind enough to go through Adobe Dreamweaver and CSS with me, so I have all these grand ideas for the blog. For now, I'm working on a professional website, but I hope to incorporate what I've learned towards the blog.

Remember how I tried my first CQ polish a few weeks ago? Well, I ended up getting two, and boy is it a beauty! Golden Green is an olive green polish with a bit of a golden sheen to it. For some reason it reminds me of something that BB Couture would do (they have such awesome greens). For a drugstore brand (and the inexpensive price), I was impressed with the formula and the brush. The bottle shape doesn't blow me away, but it is definitely better than bottles such as Nicole. I know some of you love the Nicole bottles, but I just can't get into them. I have to admit that I am extremely impressed with CQ polishes and I would definitely buy more of them. Again, you can only find them at Rite Aid and Walmart stores.

Zoya Wicked Collection: Edyta

Zoya Edyta (2 coats)

I just arrived home from watching Black Swan and boy was that intense! I mean, you really get transformed into the story and the character. I did like it, but I can see how it wouldn't be for everyone. I was also very pleased with Natalie Portman's performance in this movie. I think she did a great job doing the ballet as well. I know, I know, this isn't a movie blog, but since it is getting such buzz I thought I'd post my views.

Zoya's Edyta is quite a unique polish and it has so many different colors in it. Depending on the light, I can see a main base of green and gold (a fairly deep gold at that) with some hints of blue and charcoal in there as well. It was really weird when I was taking off the polish because the blue color became very prominent (more so than when worn). I think this one is awesome and quite multifaceted compared to most polishes being released today. There were no issues with application or formula, either.

I have a winner for the giveaway, but I haven't heard back from them yet. Please make sure to check your e-mail to see if you've won. If I haven't heard back by tomorrow I will randomly choose a second winner. Thanks again for your continued support!

China Glaze Holiday 2010 'Tis the season to be Naughty AND Nice Collection: Peace on Earth

China Glaze Peace on Earth (2 coats)

Happy Hump Day! It's almost Thanksgiving, and I'm not 100% sure if I'll blog tomorrow or not. I know a lot of people will be traveling and what not, so I may just wait until Friday to post. Who knows though, perhaps I'll surprise you! Peace on Earth is probably my favorite of the collection and it's an olive green shimmer. I definitely don't have anything like this in my collection and I have to give kudos to China Glaze for coming up with this one. I've been complaining about the lack of creativity in this collection, but there are definitely some gems in here! Again, fabulous application and formula on this one. If you're a fan of greens, you need to get this one STAT!
