Julep Holographic Polish Swatches and Review: Tali

Julep Tali (2 coats)

Hi guys! It's been a crazy week (it's actually the last week at my job - I'll talk more about that soon), so this is going to be relatively short. Nibs & Nails will be back tomorrow with another giveaway, so make sure to check back then.

I got Tali from the Julep Jan. 2016 It Girl Maven Box and it is a frosty blue linear holographic polish. The holo finish isn't in-your-face, and will not show the rainbow effect in indoor light. It's a pretty polish nontheless. It only needed 2 coats for full coverage, but dried a bit dull without a good topcoat. Also, make sure to wait an extra minute between coats because this one tends to bald if you don't wait long enough.

You can get Julep polishes in their monthly Maven box, on their website, or your local Sephora store.

Right on the Nail ~ Julep Maven Nail Polish Reviews and Swatches Part II

Hi guys! It's finally Friday! Scraggles is doing much better now, thank goodness. I'm almost finished with the second season of the Great British Baking Show on PBS and I am smitten. It is such a great show. No spoilers, but I want Tamal to win. Anyway, tonight I have the final 3 polishes from the Julep Maven boxes to show you. Let's go, shall we?

Right on the Nail ~ Julep Maven Nail Polish Reviews and Swatches

Hi guys! Scraggles (my little terrier mix) has been feeling under the weather today so I had to take her to the vet. She should be fine, but they had to give her fluids, an anti-vomiting shot, and some antibiotics for her GI tract. Keep her in your thoughts. On a lighter note, I have a ton of old Julep nail polishes to review. You will notice several different nail lengths mostly due to these being applied at various times...I hope you don't mind. Come with me after the break to see what I have in store tonight.

Right on the Nail ~ Julep Nail Polishes Swatches and Reviews: Lillian and Hartleigh

Julep Jillian (2 coats)

1 coat Julep Hartleigh over 2 coats Julep Lillian

This just shows how far behind I am on the Julep polishes I know. The colors I'm showing are from the February It Girl Maven Box (!!!). I used the polished called Lillian for both swatches because Hartleigh is a seasonal glitter topcoat which came as a free gift for Valentine's Day. Lillian is an alabaster pink creme that unfortunately comes with the usual Julep formula. Since it is so white, I should have expected this (white colors are notoriously difficult...as are yellows). You must use thin coats, if it is possible (you may need to add some thinner) and allow an extra couple minutes between coats. I do love seasonal polishes, so I'm a fan of Hartleigh. It's a glitter topcoat with large red hearts, medium matte white hexagonal glitter, and small holographic glitter. You do have to fish for the hearts and then dab then on, but I was expecting that.

Right on the Nail ~ Julep Nail Color Swatches and Review: Lee

Julep Lee (2 coats)

Hi guys! I bought a Plum Paper planner a couple months ago and I'm so happy with it. While going digital for appointments is fine, I don't think it's very fun. There are so many exciting accessories that go along with planners these days (many are found on Etsy). Anyone else into planning?

I'm still getting the Julep monthly Maven subscription box every month, but I think I am going to cancel it; I just have too many polishes in the collection right now. I also paused my Rainbow Honey subscription, but that's one I will definitely come back to in the near future. Tonight I have a polish from Julep called Lee and it's a bright red creme. Yeah, I don't find it to be anything special, but it was one of the 3 It Girl polishes from a few months ago. On the bright side, the formula was better than most of their polishes. It wasn't streaky or too thick, and only needed 2 coats for full opacity. I wouldn't pay the full price for Lee, but I'm ok with it being in the Maven box.

Right on the Nail ~ China Glaze Summer 2015 Electric Nights Collection Swatches and Review: Can I Get A Untz Untz

China Glaze Can I Get A Untz Untz (2 coats) over 2 coats Julep Janet

Hi guys! I have more summer polishes to share with you tonight. The first summer collection from China Glaze is called the Electric Nights collection and features some new matte glitter topcoats. This is a pretty new concept for a large company like China Glaze since most polishes like these have been released through indie brands. Can I Get A Untz Untz contains lime green, blue and purple matte hexagonal glitters in a clear base. The glitter density was just ok with these. You can definitely see the bubbles I got from trying to get a good sprinkling of glitter across the nail bed. Some people try and get around this by putting some of the polish on a makeup wedge to get rid of the excess base and placing the glitter on the nail. I did not do this, but it may be something you want to try. I ended up putting this over Julep's Janet which is a light peach color with a satin finish.

You can find China Glaze polishes at your local Sally's Beauty Supply or Ulta stores where prices may vary. Get more info on China Glaze on their FacebookInstagram, or Twitter pages.

Right on the Nail ~ Julep April 2015 It Girl Maven Box Swatches and Review: Randi

Julep Randi (2 coats)

It's Hump Day! If you're like me, you love shortened work weeks. Tonight I have the final polish from the Julep April 2015 It Girl Maven box (there is a third polish, but it is just an Oxygen Base Coat) called Randi. Do you know any girls named Randi? Me neither, but I digress. Julep calls it a "pink plumeria creme" which is pretty spot on. It's not the most unique color in the world, but it's nice for a spring to summer transition color. I usually have issues with Julep's formula (I find it to be too thick), but I was very happy with Randi. It was the perfect consistency and opacity in just 2 coats. Would I pay full price for it? No, but I was happy with it in my Maven box.

Right on the Nail ~ Julep April 2015 It Girl Maven Box Swatches and Review: Danielle

Julep Danielle (2 coats)

Hi guys, I know, I'm a little bit behind about posting lately. I guess it's just that my motivation has been lacking in the nail department lately. Maybe it's just because there aren't many new polishes out right now (with it being the transition between spring and summer). I hope to get back into the swing of things soon.

Until then, I have a Julep polish from their latest Paradise Collection called Danielle. It's a bright blue duochrome shimmer that flashes pink. Unfortunately the pink does not show up on the nail and is mostly in the bottle. I still love the color, but not for the Julep retail prices. I often have trouble with the application of Julep polishes, but I had no issues with this one. The It Girl box usually has 3 colors in it every month, but April only had 2 colors and 1 basecoat. I am always swimming in topcoat and basecoat, so I wasn't extremely thrilled to add to my collection.

Right on the Nail ~ Julep February 2015 It Girl Maven Box Swatches and Review: Becky

Julep Becky (2 coats)

Hi guys! Yesterday was my birthday so my family went out to dinner and did some shopping. Overall it was a nice, relaxing day. I hope you had a happy weekend as well.

Tonight I have another polish from the Julep It Girl Maven box. They come up with so many different makeup items that I'm not interested in which is the reason why I only get the It Girl box...even if there are colors I'm more interested in in other boxes. I'm a happy camper because Becky is another stunning polish! It has a bit of a blackened base with a purple and teal/blue duochrome finish. The shimmer particles are a bit larger than usual which is why the duochrome really comes out in this one. Up until April I've been having some issues with Julep's formula. Most of the time it's extremely thick and doesn't really get better with thinner. Unfortunately, Becky has this issue as well. It's supposed to be what they call a "silk finish" or satin finish, but I didn't even notice this and added topcoat. No worries, I think topcoat is still a must for this one. Cheers!

Right on the Nail ~ Julep January Maven It Girl Box Swatches and Review: Margit

Julep Margit (2 coats)

Yay, my parents are coming tomorrow to celebrate my birthday this weekend! Oh, and it was supposed to rain Saturday and Sunday, but it just changed and will be full of sunshine and 75. Happy dance, happy dance!

As you guys know, I'm back on the Julep Maven box, and I received Margit in my January box. This is a really unique polish for my collection! It's a mushroom taupe color with rosey pink shimmer. The shimmer is sort of matte, so it sort of has this flecked look to it. I actually really love it. What don't I love? The formula. It was extremely thick and hard to work with...thankfully 2 coats was enough because I don't think I could have dealt with another. Is it worth the $14 Julep asks for their retail price? Oh, heck no, but I'm glad to have it in the monthly box.

Right on the Nail ~ Julep Nail Lacquer Swatches and Review: Shelly

Julep Shelly (2 coats)

I know, I haven't posted the Zoya polishes yet, but I will be finishing the Satin and Spring collections tonight, so I promise they are coming. Tonight I have one of the polishes from the It Girl Welcome Box called Shelly. It's a robin's egg blue creme that is very pretty, but I had a little problem with the application. It was a bit thick, but was still opaque in just 2 coats. So yes, my Maven subscription is back, and I'm already behind on swatching...you know how I am.

Julep Nail Color Review and Swatches: Ciara

Julep Ciara (2 coats)

I didn't blog yesterday because I had to go to Charlotte to get another Helmer. My 4th Helmer. Eek, I'm so overwhelmed!

So I've had this polish for over a year and a half and I just got around to swatching it last week, Yes, I am a failure at blogging. Well, I guess the bright side is that you get to see it tonight. It's a deep purple with beautiful blue shimmer. You know me and polishes with shimmer of a different color; yes, it is love. The formula was just ok, and the Julep bottles are a bit unwieldy to work with, but the color is worth it.

Julep Nail Lacquer Review and Swatch: Missy

Julep Missy (2 coats)

Happy Monday! I had to take another day off of work because my mystery illness is still hanging around. Can you believe it? I've been sick since April 19th. Yeah. I've been trying so hard to keep the blog up and running, but it's so hard. I appreciate your understanding as I go through this hard time.

You know how you can tell these pictures are old? The length of my nails. I've had this one is the old folder forever, but when I saw swatches of OPI's Coca-Cola, I thought one looked familiar: My Signature is "DC" for Diet Coke. Julep's Missy is also a silver foil, but it looks like the particles are a little bit larger than the OPI counterpart. I'm not sure how close they are to being dupes, but I think this is close enough in my collection that I don't need My Signature is "DC." What do you guys think? The formula and application was fine in just 2 coats.

If you are interested in getting a free Julep Maven box, please look at my sidebar for the affiliate link box that helps me make money for my blog (which I will then put straight back into the blog with new colors!). For the free introductory box, just put in code FREEBOX to get polishes and other beauty products, if interested in those. I appreciate anyone signing up! Thanks!

Julep November 2013 It Girl Maven Box Swatch: Lola

Julep Lola (2 coats and no topcoat)

Yeah, I got this polish back in November. November! There are still about 4 other Julep polishes I have yet to even swatch, so it's going to be awhile for those. Oops! Julep Lola is a deep navy satin polish. As you can see, even when it's dry, it still has a bit of a sheen to it so it's not completely matte. Since it is so dark, it can sometimes look black in certain lighting, but it's definitely a beautiful navy color. I was also happy with the formula and application which only needed 2 coats and dried relatively quickly.

Thanksgiving Day Manicure Featuring Julep's Candace and China Glaze 2013 On the Horizon Swatch Flying South

Julep Candace (2 coats)

Candace over 1 coat of

Happy Thanksgiving! 2013 has been a pretty crappy year, but there are still things to be thankful for. I'm thankful for every single one of you who has come to my blog. If it weren't for you, this blog probably wouldn't still be around (I don't like to disappoint people). In other words, you guys keep me going. Sometimes I don't have much to say in my posts like I used to, but that's likely because I don't have many positive things to say. Anyway, thank you.

I got rid of my Julep Maven box so you won't be seeing too many more Julep polishes after I finish my last 2 boxes I didn't want. Right here is Candace which is a brown shimmer and then I decided to put Flying South from the China Glaze On the Horizon collection that sneaked out this fall on top. Flying Fall is the "feathered" bar glitter in orange and tan with coppery microglitter. I thought this combination felt very fall to me and Lucy from Peanuts thought it looked pretty as well.

Again, Happy Thanksgiving!
