Polish Pickup June 2021 Rainbows Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hola! Wait, it's almost JUNE? I swear it was just February, so how are we almost halfway through 2021?! Tonight I've got 3 polishes from this month's Polish Pickup which has the theme of Rainbows. Just a reminder, next month (July) is Rewind which means there will be no brand new polishes available, but each maker can bring back 2 polishes from previous months. One of the items will be available in the PPU store, while the other will be available in their own respective stores. I remember in previous years, many makers will try and have discounted or free shipping since shopping at many stores will rack up more shipping costs (instead of the $3 from PPU).

PPU starts Friday, June 4th at 11:00 AM ET and ends on Monday, June 7th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a cap and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone, unless you get lucky and the cap gets raised...which is rare) on the PPU websiteTime for swatches!

Noodles Nail Polish Adventure is "Up" (3 coats)
Inspiration: the rainbow of balloons amongst the sky in the animated film "Up"
Price: $11.50
Bottles Available: No Limit

website | Facebook Fan Group | Instagram

You won't believe this, but I've never seen "Up." You see, when my husband and I found out that everyone, and I mean everyone, cried uncontrollably in the first 15 minutes of the movie, that made us immediately not want to watch it. Everyone also raves about it, so perhaps at some point we'll get around to watching it. Adventure is "Up" is an aqua blue crelly base with a rainbow of matte hexagonal glitters in various sizes with a touch of silver holo flakes and silver holo glitters. This one is just so whimsical! The formula was perfect, and I used 3 thin coats for my photos. It self-leveled easily, but did dry with a bit of texture from all the glitter. I'd recommend a coat of a glitter-smoothing topcoat followed by a quick-dry topcoat to smooth it all out.

Noodles Nail Polish Sweet Rainbow Dreams (1 coat) over various bases or alone in 3 coats
Inspiration: pastel-colored clouds amongst a moon in a blue sky
Price: $11.50
Bottles Available: No Limit

This is the first month Noodles Nail Polish will have a second topper available. This is Sweet Rainbow Dreams which is a clear based glitter topper with pastel matte glitters in pale peach, pale yellow, aqua, mint, light pink, purple, and periwinkle with a touch of green to purple shifting shimmer, holo flakes, and a very light holo finish. This is one of those toppers that will work with a variety of base colors. I always like to know if a topper can build up to full coverage on its own, and I'm happy to report that it mostly does. You can see some hints of my nail, but the bright lighting causes that. If you really don't want to see the nail, I'd recommend a neutral base such as the Polished for Days Soft Focus Basecoat. It dries with some texture from the glitter, so you'll either need 2 coats of topcoat, or one coat of a glitter-smoothing topcoat followed by your regular topcoat.

Soothing Soul Nail Lacquer Lollipop Guild (3 coats)
Inspiration: the Munchkins in Oz
Price: $12
Bottle Limit: 100 bottles

It's been a while since I've been able to review a polish for Soothing Soul Nail Lacquer, and I'm so happy to swatch Lollipop Guild for you. I've said time and time again how much I loved The Wizard of Oz, so I would have purchased this one regardless. This one is a minty base with silverly pearl shimmer. Does it remind anyone else of a mermaid? I think it would also make a great summer pedicure color. It does dry with some brushstrokes, so don't overwork the final coat (float it a little more). If they really bother you, add a matte topcoat followed by a shiny topcoat and that will limit brushstrokes on the nail. I used 3 thin coats for my photos, but you may get away with 2 depending on your application and nail length. I'd also give an extra minute between coats to help with the brushstrokes.

There you have it, folks! Don't forget to start your wishlist now. The Soothing Soul Nail Lacquer has a cap of just 100 bottles, so you may want to add it to your list and check out early to make sure it doesn't sell out. What are you picking up this month? Have a great week!

Right on the Nail ~ Morgan Taylor Summer 2016 A Very Nauti-cal Girl Collection Swatches and Reviews Part II

*press samples*

Hi guys! It has been business as usual around here lately. My lab has some outreach projects next week with high school students, so I've been a bit busier than usual at work. Oh, and in my off time I've been trying to finish up season 4 of Orange is the New Black. Anyone caught up already? Tonight we're going to finish up the summer collection from Morgan Taylor. I just so happened to get their fall collection in the mail last week so I've been swatching those. I love fall colors, but I'm just not ready to think about them yet. Anyway, let's see the final swatches and reviews!

Right on the Nail ~ Morgan Taylor Summer 2016 A Very Nauti-cal Girl Collection Swatches and Reviews Part I

*press samples*

Hi guys! Did you have a good weekend? It was pretty quiet around here, which is always appreciated. We went to see Central Intelligence (not life-changing, but it was cute) and took Scraggles to the dog park. Tonight I have the first of 2 posts featuring the newest Morgan Taylor polishes. It's a 4-piece collection with 3 cremes and 1 shimmer polish inspired by all things nautical. Are you ready?

Morgan Taylor Catch My Drift (2 coats)

Up first is a blurple creme called Catch My Drift. You know me, I'm a sucker for blues. In real life the color is a little darker than the pictures above, so be aware of that. I found the formula to be a bit thin and watery, so make sure to remove all excess polish before applying to the nail. That being said, I only needed 2 coats for full coverage.

Morgan Taylor Girls Love Buoys (2 coats)

Girls Love Buoys is a bright pink creme. I wouldn't call it a neon pink for summer, but it's still fairly bright. I probably have some other pinks similar to it, but it's still a great staple polish. The formula was much easier to work with compared to Catch My Drift, and it only needed 2 easy coats.

Morgan Taylor polishes can sometimes be hard to find, but you can finally buy them online without a license from Loxa Beauty for $9.00 each (hint, some of the polishes are on sale for as low as $4.25). The collection was also released in mini bottles, and you can buy the set of 4 for only $15. You can keep up with Morgan Taylor on their FacebookTwitter, and Instagram pages as well.

Right on the Nail ~ Wonder Beauty Super Chic Lacquer Spring 2015 Serendipity Collection Swatches and Review: Cause and Effect

*discounted polish*

Wonder Beauty Super Chic Lacquer Cause and Effect (3 coats)

Hi guys! Tonight I have a new indie brand called Super Chic Lacquer through Wonder Beauty Products. I've been admiring these from afar, and finally pulled the trigger a couple weeks ago. These are still available through her Etsy page and retail for $10.  And yes, these are the most unique bottles I own. A little big, but definitely different. Cause and Effect is a neon pastel orange/pink with a pearl shimmer finish. Since it has some neon tendencies, it did dry to a satin finish. I wanted shine so I used topcoat for the above photos. I found the formula to be a bit thin and streaky in the first 2 coats with the 3rd one finally evening things out. Make sure to learn more about Jen from Super Chic Lacquer through her Facebook and Twitter pages.

Zoya Fall 2014 Entice Collection Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Zoya Claire (2 coats)

Claire is a very deep burgundy brown. It's a nice fall color, but it's really not my thing. If it didn't have so much red in it, it would remind me of raisins.

Zoya Genevieve (2 coats)

Genevieve is the only non-creme of the collection with a slight pearl finish. It's more of a deep grey with blue undertones. Very cool color!

Zoya Margo (2 coats)

For once I'm pretty happy with my color accuracy with this purple! It took years, but maybe I can finally show purples right (maybe). Margo is a deep purple plum creme. I ended up liking this one more than I expected!

Zoya Nyssa (2 coats)

Nyssa is a chocolate brown creme. While this is fine, I think we've seen enough browns from Zoya from the Naturel and Naturel Deux Collection.

Zoya Ryan (2 coats)

And now we come to my favorite of the collection called Ryan. It's a dark navy blue that is so dark that you can just tell that it's not black. The first and last photos are the most color accurate.

Zoya Veronica (2 coats)

Lastly, we have Veronica which is a berry/wine creme which also happens to be my least favorite of the collection. It's fine if you don't already have something like it in your collection, but I feel like I have so many of them.

Overall, this collection is mixed for me since I have some real favorites in here (Ryan and Genevieve) and some meh colors (Veronica and Claire). Of course, this is just my opinion, and my least favorites might be your very favorites! The formula and application was the same for all of them which is opaque but slightly thin. I hope you enjoyed this post and the newest colors from Zoya.

You can purchase these polishes right now on the Zoya website for $9 each or at select salons or Ulta stores. Stay up-to-date with all things Zoya (often including giveaways and sales!) on Twitter or Facebook.
