Kelier Crackle Polish over OPI Gift of Gold

Kelier Crackle Polish (1 coat) over OPI Gift of Gold (2 coats)

With all of the crackle polishes coming out this month (a whole set with different colors from China Glaze and a simple black from OPI), I thought I'd mention another affordable alternative if you may choose. You likely haven't heard of the company Born Pretty, but they sell a wide variety of nail art products, including different crackle polishes and nail stamping supplies (think Konad). The crackle polishes retail for $4.52 with discounts applied the more you order, and I believe they have free shipping from Singapore. You can find their list of crackle polishes here. They were also kind enough to send along a 10% off coupon with the order. I'm not 100% happy with the base polish I used for this one. While I love Gift of Gold, I don't think it stands out enough. I think a really bright creme would work best for these. Also, I've found that you should use a very thin coat of crackle polish because the less you add, the more it will crack. I definitely need to use this one more often. What do you think, do you love crackle polishes? Does it bring you back to the 90s where Cover Girl released their line of crackle polishes?

*These polishes were provided the the company or PR representative. All reviews are based solely on my opinion. For more information, please see my full disclosure at the bottom of the site*

I really love the two Born Pretty crackle polishes I have (the blue one and the pink one), though I did have to experiment a bit to get it to turn out how I wanted the first time. Thin layers are definitely best, but when applied properly I like these crackle polishes better than the crackle polishes from OPI, Barry M, and China Glaze.

Thanks for your input, Zara! I haven't tried the others yet, but I am definitely going to give them a try. I really think I need that pink crackle...

Crackle polishes interest me but this isn't one of the best ones I've seen. Maybe it's just because of the base color, like you said.

I think crackle polishes are neat, but I don't usually wear them...

This one seemed to not crackle enough, or was it really the base coat?

Your nails are so lovely!

Jeanie, I think it was both the base polish I used and the fact that I was still learning to use it and I made the coat too thick. The thicker it is, the less it cracks. I'll try to post another picture with a different polish. I hope that helps!
