Nibs & Nails Presents Cameo Colours Lacquers Caroube de Chypre (Inspired by J Herbin Ink): Swatches and Giveaway!

*press sample*

Hi guys! I can finally welcome you back to Nibs & Nails. You know, the segment where I ask indie makers to dupe (or just be inspired by) popular fountain pen inks. I know it has been a hot minute since I've posted one of these, but you know...life. Tonight features the brand Cameo Colours Lacquers. Don't forget, Cameo's Spring Collection is out right now and I reviewed them on the blog a couple weeks ago (link here). If you haven't checked Cameo out, I definitely recommend you do so! I asked her to work on the latest shimmery J Herbin ink, Caroube de Chypre. Stay tuned to the end of the post for your chance to win this exclusive shade!

As always, to see an in-depth review of the ink, please check out my husband's blog post on Inkdependence. Without further ado, let's get started!

First off, look at this ink! It's a reddish sepia base with gold shimmer and green sheen. Cameo's gold shimmer matches the ink perfectly. The ink dries slightly redder than the polish, but I think the shimmer throws the color off a little bit. The swatch stick isn't really showing the green in these photos, but the gold clearly picks up some of the green tones in the polish.

The green sheen above mostly shows up in the spots where the heaviest pools of ink dried. What exactly causes some fountain pen inks to dry with this sheen? Good question, I have no idea! Either way, I think it looks awesome.

Cameo Colours Lacquers Caroube de Chypre (2 coats)

Oh man, I am in love with this polish! Right now my husband is wearing this on his toes (he teaches so he's not really able to do his fingers, but he will rock a pedi color with no hesitation). The slight green stands out the most in the bottle in the photos above. It tends to stay hidden until you're in lower light (which swatching light clearly isn't). Cameo was super helpful throughout the entire process and sent me several pictures to get my thoughts and opinions. I'm not 100% sure if she is doing customs at the moment, but if she opens them up, I would certainly try her out again. Even with all the shimmer in Caroube de Chypre, the formula was just perfect in 2 coats. C'est magnifique! Make sure to stay up-to-date on all things Cameo Colours Lacquers by checking out her website, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter pages.

I love this polish! Greens and browns are two of my favorite colors, and this combines both.

My favorite polish color would be green....but my favorite is an opalescent topper (custom) made for me by Cameo Colours Lacquers.
