Polish Pickup Dec. 2020 Everything is Fine: Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi folks! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving for those of you in the US. It was a really quiet one with just me and my husband celebrating at home. Luckily the food turned out well and nothing was burnt. Tonight I've got several items for this month's PPU to share with you. This month's theme is Everything is Fine which can be taken many different ways. 2020 has been a terrible year for everyone. Makers came together for the good, bad, and ugly that was 2020. New to PPU? If so, here's how it works:

Definitely join the Polish Pickup Facebook Group. You don't necessarily need to actively participate in the group, but it will give you a look at the polishes that will be available in the coming month. PPU themes are chosen by the people, often a few months in advance (brands need time to find their inspiration and test their polish). Any indie brand that has been around for at least a year can participate and each has their own specific inspiration picture and polish for that month. All you need to do is go to the Polish Pickup site during the pre-order window (the first Friday-Monday of the month) to make all of your purchases of these exclusive polishes. There's no need to pay for multiple shipping charges; since this is a pre-order, all polishes get sent to Polish Pickup and they send you the polishes you ordered. Yup, it's that simple. Oh, and shipping is a flat-rate of $3 to the US (more for international and they just had to increase the pricing to Canada). Recently they also opened a UK site which you can find here. Since all orders are pre-orders, shipping will take place about 3 weeks after the end of the pre-order.

PPU starts Friday, Dec. 4th at 11:00 AM ET and ends on Monday, Dec. 7th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a cap and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone, unless you get lucky and the cap gets raised...which is rare) on the PPU websiteThe website just opened up today for wishlisting yesterday, so go check out this month's offerings STAT. Time for swatches!

Noodles Nail Polish It's a Nice Day for a Covid Wedding (3 coats)
Inspiration: Natalie's wedding and all the other brides and weddings during the year of covid.
Price: $11.50
Cap: No cap

Yes, Natalie from Noodles got married in October (and it's also why Noodles didn't participate in PPU last month) and her inspiration is a little bittersweet. I can only imagine all the changes and stress brides have had to go through this year. It's a Nice Day for a Covid Wedding is a soft white crelly base with gold and rose gold hexagonal glitters. I used 3 thin coats for my swatches, and it dried with some texture, so you may need a second coat of topcoat to smooth it all out. The formula was perfect like all my Noodles. I'm in love with the glitter colors here.

Starlight Polish Toxic (3 coats)
Inspiration: This polish’s inspiration is Britney Spears’ Toxic, a song that has made it onto a lot of people’s quarantine playlists.  This polish is by request from people who loved our November PPU polish, Silver as the Moon, Shining as the Stars and wanted to see it in nude!
Price: $13
Cap: 150/US 15/UK

Up next we have Toxic which is a tan nude crelly base with silver holographic pigment and silver holographic glitter. That holo glitter really pops in this one! And even though it's "glitter," I didn't find that it added too much texture to the dried polish. I only needed to use 1 coat of topcoat to smooth it all out. Sometimes brown/tan polishes can clash with skintones, but I found this one to work well with my NC20 skin.

Starlight and Sparkles' Oil Slick Pendent
Inspiration: the hot garbage that has been 2020
Price: $11
Cap: 300/US 30/UK

The shift in this pendent is just crazy everyone! I really did my best to show you all the colors. And yes, it contains a lot of original unicorn pee pigmentThis pendant uses a black pendant tray and a glass cabochon, and showcases the fantastically shifty gorgeousness of red to green shifting old school unicorn pee pigment. These pendants show shift all the way from fiery crimson to vivid green to beautiful almost-indigo blue at extreme angles – like the rainbow of an oil slick, but even more intense! The outline of the same overlapping spiral/criss-cross pattern that is on the back of the pendants shows under the pigment in the pendant, like seeing the outline of asphalt’s uneven texture through an oil slick on its surface. The pendant comes on an 18” black cord necklace with nickel free findings and extender chain.  As these are handmade, there will be variance between pieces, and may be small imperfections or bubbles under the glass. The black finish on the pendant trays can be damaged by rough handling, harsh cleaners, or solvents, so please do be a little more gentle with these. This one is so gorgeous in person!

There you have it, folks! A few of these items have a cap, so it's best to add your items to the cart the night before the sale goes live. You need to have an account and sign in first before adding your wish listed items to the cart. Easy peasy. What do you think? What are you picking up this month?
