Right on the Nail ~ Great Lakes Lacquer May Limited Edition Swatches and Reviews: I'd Rather Be Fishing and Redear Sunfish

Hi guys! I hope your week is off to a great start. Tonight I have a brand that is new to the blog, but I've been meaning to buy from them for many months. I've always enjoyed Great Lakes Lacquer from all of the swatches and reviews I've seen, but it wasn't until The Sunset Dissected collection was released that I knew I must purchase. I'll explain more about this in a post later this week, I promise. Every month Mariah, the owner, puts out polishes that are limited editions that you can just purchase that month. I have the May limited edition polishes to show you guys tonight, and they will be available for purchase through June 1st on her Etsy site.

Great Lakes Lacquer I'd Rather Be Fishing (2 coats)

Oh man, I'd Rather Be Fishing is a gorgeous polish! It's a dark teal jelly with a healthy dose of blue-green shimmer and bronze and purple flakes. The flakes really add depth to the polish, and I'm a huge fan of this one. I couldn't ask for a better formula, and it only needed 2 coats for full coverage. As an aside, I don't really go fishing very often, but I'm all for catch and release fishing once in awhile (I don't eat fish).

Great Lakes Lacquer Redear Sunfish (2 coats)

To be honest, I had to look up what a Redear Sunfish looked like. Even then, I had to look for the inspiration behind this polish. Go ahead and Google the fish. If you look closely, you can see the red color behind the ear flap. Very sneaky! The polish is a bright red linear holographic polish with subtle peach flakes. Remember back in the day when it was so hard to find a good red holographic polish? Look no more because this is one you need! I used 2 coats for the photographs above, but it was very close to needing just 1. **Updated 5/18/2016: Mariah was nice enough to explain the inspiration for Redear Sunfish, "The belly of the sunfish can almost glow and goes from a yellow to an orange to a bright red (on some fish) before bleeding into the green and turquoise ribbing that is their main color. They are, to me, the most beautiful fish and remind me greatly of my childhood and fishing on Houghton Lake."**

Again, you can find these polishes until June 1st and I'd Rather Be Fishing retails for $10, while Redear Sunfish will cost you $11. Make sure to check out Great Lakes Lacquer on their Etsy site, Facebook page, and Instagram page.

Love this! <3 Just as an aside, the belly of the sunfish can almost glow and goes from a yellow to an orange to a bright red (on some fish) before bleeding into the green and turquoise ribbing that is their main color.
