Noodles Nail Polish Winter Collection 2021 Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hello all! How is it not Friday yet? Days during Covid seem to just drag by. I think part of it is from not having anything to really look forward to (well, I suppose you could say getting the vaccine, but that's likely far out for me). There are a few bright points of course, like getting to swatch these collections for Natalie. I've been honored to continue to be asked to review these Noodles, and having this hobby has really helped me get through some tough times. On a much brighter note, I've got a whopper of a post for you tonight. I think Natalie gets the most inspiration from fall and winter which translates to large collections. The Winter Collection is an 8-piece set that features glitter toppers, shifty shades, and loads of glitter crellies. These will also be releasing this Friday, February 5th at 5 PM EST on the Noodles Nail Polish website. Prices will vary based on the polish, so I will be labeling each polish with that info (all are either $9.50 or $10). This is going to be an extremely pic-heavy post, so we need to get started!

Best Techniques for Smoothing Out and Removing Glitter *updated 2/1/21*

Noodles Nail Polish is all about the glitter, all the time. While we all love the bling, it can be a pain to remove. Oh, and it can be known to eat topcoat which leaves texture on the nail after it dries. If you are especially sensitive to feeling your polish, make sure your topcoat is a thick one, or apply a second coat of a thinner one.

Instead of applying 2 coats of thick topcoat, several indie brands have come out with a product that you use after your last coat of polish and before your topcoat. These are generally thick and "fill in" the gaps left from the glitter. Here are several products I use and recommend (in no particular order):

1. Glitter Wrangler from Dollish Polish
2. Glitter Grabber from Glisten and Glow
3. Gelous from American Classics
4. Smooth from Painted Phalanges (dries with a matte finish unlike the others)
5. Smooth and Shine Duo from Esmaltes da Kelly (available through Polish Pickup some months)

I also use peel-off basecoats to make removal a breeze. I recommend UNT Ready for Take Off, or Hit the Bottle Keepin' it Peel as they both work well (I am not affiliated with either site or brand...I'm just sharing the love). The UNT works better for my body chemistry as the Hit the Bottle will sometimes pop off during the day. It seems like the UNT has been harder to find lately, so there's always the Holo Taco one if you really need one. If you want your polish to last a little longer, I completely understand. In that case, the foil method will work best for you when you're ready for a change. Clips like these are cheap and great for keeping the cotton balls in place. I hope this helps, and feel free to email me or leave a comment with any questions you may have.

Noodles Nail Polish Alpine Nights (2 coats) ($10)

You know I love a good flakie polish, so Alpine Nights is definitely one of my top picks. This one is quite the chameleon! It's a navy/blue/purple color shifting polish with lots of silver metallic flakes, lavender holo glitters, and blue/violet shifting flakes. The purple really pops in lower light and at extreme angles. I went ahead and used 2 thicker coats to get full coverage, and it dried with some texture (flakes don't add too much texture, but there was a decent amount of glitter in here, too). We really started off with a bang!

1 coat of Noodles Nail Polish Aurora Skies over Zoya Tiana (3 coats alone on ring finger) ($10)

Up next we have my favorite of the glitter toppers. Aurora Skies is a clear-based topper with matte white and black glitters in hexagonal and square shapes, metallic copper hexagonal glitters, and a variety of hexagonal and square iridescent glitters. Natalie is the queen of glitter combos, and this is such an interesting mix of shapes and colors. It was extremely glitter dense, so you can get full opacity in 3 coats by itself. Any bare spots aren't noticeable in person. I think this one would work with a variety of base colors, too.

Noodles Nail Polish Cuddle Season (2 coats) ($9.50)

Cuddle Season just may be the cutest name for a polish ever. It's a deep plum crelly base with rose/copper/caramel/silver hexagonal glitters, holo flakes, and bronze metallic microflakes. Oh, and there are some circular glitters in there, and I think those are underused. The copper and caramel glitters really stand out from the dark base. The base, while dark, never appears black or anything. This one dries with a bit more texture, but it's so worth it. I expected to need 3 coats, but I was able to use 2 thicker ones for full opacity.

Noodles Nail Polish Embers (3 coats) ($10)

It took me a while to figure out what color Embers was. To be honest, I don't have anything like this in my collection! It's described as a blackened indigo base that shifts burgundy/red (and orange and the most extreme angles) with copper holo glitters, bronze metallic microflakes, and a scattered holo finish. It was hard to capture, and I hope I did it justice. I'm very interested to see how the other reviewers were able to show this one. I ended up using 3 coats for this one, and it's one of the few 3-coaters in this collection.

Noodles Nail Polish Frost & Flannel (2 coats) ($10)

We've got another top pick for me! I wasn't expecting to love this one as much as I do. Frost & Flannel is a taupe crelly that leans beige with violet gold shimmer, pink holo glitters, silver holo flakes/glitters, gold glitters, and scattered holo finish. The holo bling and strong violet shimmer are the most striking aspects of this polish. I must say that the shimmer stands out more in real life, especially in lower light (like most contrasting colors do). This one gives me a bit of lobster fingers, but that doesn't bother me at all. Here we have yet another 2-coater.

1 coat of Noodles Nail Polish Ice Queen over Zoya Tiana (3 coats only on ring finger) ($9.50)

Yes, we got 2 glitter toppers in 1 collection! Ice Queen is a clear based topper with metallic rose, silver, and gunmetal hexagonal glitters and fine rose and silver microflakes. I've really been into rose gold lately so I'm really loving this combo. This one has medium glitter density, and 3 heavy coats will mostly cover the nail. Again, bright lighting and macro photos show every little detail, so any little bare spots are magnified more than what you'd see in person.

Noodles Nail Polish S-mitten (2 coats) ($9.50)

Up next we have S-mitten which is a dusty light lilac crelly base with bronze metallic flakes and copper metallic and holo glitters. This is a really soft shade that is a work-appropriate shade that has flair. Who knew lilac and copper/bronze would work so well together?! I was happy to see that this is another 2-coater that basically applied itself. This is one of those shades that is perfect year round.

Noodles Nail Polish Snow Daze (2 coats) ($9.50)

Last, but certainly not least, we have my last top pick from the collection which is Snow Daze. It's a white crelly base with grey, silver, pale pink, and periwinkle hexagonal glitters in various sizes. Upon first glance, the periwinkle blue glitter catches your eye while the other glitters really add a nice depth to this one. It really has an icy look to it...maybe because it reminds me a bit of the cover to the Frozen movie. I usually need 3 coats for the white crellies, but like most T

There you have it, folks! My top recs would have to be Snow Daze, Alpine Nights, Frost & Flannel, and Aurora Skies. Oops, that's half of them! I did my best to whittle it down! Don't forget, these will be available this Friday, February 5th at 5 PM EST. You can find out more about Noodles Nail Polish on their websiteInstagram pageFacebook page, and Facebook Fan Group.

Some great finishes in this collection! I really don't mind getting glitter off ... so used to the foil method by now it's automatic (unless I forgot to restock my foil!)
