Preview of Zoya Touch Collection Summer 2011

Once upon a time, I was a hater of nude nail colors. After becoming a nail blogger, I've come to find neutral polishes a welcomed change when I'm (rarely) sick of having bright or dark colors on my nails. Unfortunately nude polishes tend to be quite sheer (which often annoys me), so Zoya came out with 3 new nude polishes that are opaque. Here's what Zoya has to say about their new polishes:

Each of the new Zoya Touch Collection trio of colors were designed by the color experts at Zoya to coordinate with yellow based, red based or blue based skin undertones to enhance the length of fingers and nails. Some call this look mannequin hands - Zoya calls it natural, and lovely! Nude polish works on both long and short nails and is widely known as "work appropriate" for fields that demand a more demure, groomed nail look.

Zoya Minka
Great warm toned beige nail polish for those with a yellow undertones.
A pale, milky beige nude with yellow undertones and a hint of pearly silver shimmer. An opaque, full-coverage nude, especially flattering on skin with neutral and olive tones.

Zoya Shay
Perfect natural nail polish for those with a red undertones.
A dense, fleshy light peach with slight orange-red undertones and a hint of pearly silver shimmer. An opaque, full-coverage nude that compliments warm skin tones.

Zoya Pandora
Lovely cool toned nude nail polish for those with a blue undertones.
A medium pink-beige nude with blue and mauve undertones and a hint of pearly silver shimmer. An opaque, full-coverage nude that works beautifully on skin with cool tones.

Essence Colour & Go: Underwater

Essence Underwater (2 coats)

My birthday was forever ago, but I'm just now getting to a picture of my birthday mani! I should be ashamed of how backed up I am. Underwater is part of the main collection from Essence and is a dusty navy blue shimmer. I wish I was a better photographer and could accurately show the shimmer in this because it is really beautiful. The shimmer is also blue, which is likely why it is so hard to capture. The formula was absolutely wonderful and was very pigmented (it only needed 2 coats). I would definitely recommend this polish!

Sorry for the short post, but I am watching Due Date with the husband tonight. I love Robert Downey Jr.!

Essence Colour & Go: Sundancer

Essence: Sundancer (3 coats)

As I said yesterday, I bought several polishes with my 20% off coupon from Ulta making this polish a whopping $0.80. Weirdly enough, there are still more polishes in the Essence main collection that I haven't bought (I should have just gotten them all!). Sundancer is your typical taxicab yellow creme that is slightly better in application than most yellow polishes. As most of you know, yellows are notoriously thick and streaky, but this one was only slightly streaky with full coverage after the third coat. It's a nice color if you want that wow factor and you're on a budget.

Ulta Nail Polish: Ginger Peach

Ulta: Ginger Peach (2 coats)

Can you believe it's Wednesday already? Having a short work week is always a welcomed change, but I'm always messing up the days. Friday will be here before you know it! I want to see Hangover 2 this weekend, but the husband wants to watch X-Men First Class. As much as I love me some James McAvoy (I seem to have a thing for Scottish men), there's just something about this one that doesn't appeal to me. Do you want to see X-Men movie?

Awhile back I had a coupon for 20% off everything from Ulta, so needless to say, I went a bit overboard with some polishes. I was really wanting a peach polish, so I ended up with Ginger Peach which is a peach color with loads of subtle silver shimmer. It would make a nice work polish, but I'm not sure it really goes well with my skin tone. I'm sort of on the fence about it. It did, however, have great application and formula so it has that going for it.
