Essence Denim Wanted Collection: Forever Mine

Essence Forever Mine (2 coats)

Happy Saturday! Sorry for the lack of posts yesterday, but sometimes I want a day off, you know? I've been remiss in mentioning to you all that I just got a new science job at one of the state universities! I will be starting towards the beginning in May so that is really exciting. It's not quite in my area of expertise, but I can't wait to learn new techniques and ideas.

Ok, on to Forever Mine from the limited edition Essence Denim Wanted collection I found at Ulta awhile back. I think it cost $1.99 or $2.49 so it is very affordable which is great. It is a royal blue creme that was very pigmented and barely needed the 2 coats I gave it. That's one thing I really like about Essence polishes: they are very cheap, but the quality is never lacking. I have to apologize that I didn't post this one when it was available, but I did stop by Ulta last week and they have a new Fairytale collection from Essence. The bottles were very cute and they looked like foils so I ended up picking one up for $2.49.

Dr.'s Remedy Winter Wonder-Nails: Healing Heather Grey

Dr.'s Remedy Nail Polish: Healing Heather Grey (2 coats)

So this is the last polish from Dr.'s Remedy and their winter collection and it's called Healing Heather Grey. You can see that I swatched these awhile ago because look how long my nails are (they are currently shorter than I'd prefer). Healing Heather Grey is a light grey creme that is neutral enough to wear day-to-day which I like. I feel like I am repeating myself over and over, but they formula on these were fantastic and barely needed the 2 coats I gave it. I forgot to mention previously that I really like the bottles on these. They are quite square with a wide rubberized top containing the brush. At first I was dubious about the ease of polishing from such a large cap, but I am happy to report there were no issues at all. Overall, I'm impressed with these polishes, but I wish they'd be available for a cheaper price point.

Dr.'s Remedy Nail Polis: Revive Ruby Red

Dr.'s Remedy Revive Ruby Red (2 coats)

You guys know I'm a little weird with red polishes. Most of the world seems to absolutely adore red polishes, but I will often not buy them unless they are special in some way. I'm happy to report that Revive Ruby Red was probably my favorite out of all three polishes from Dr.'s Remedy! I'd say that is quite a feat. It is a really beautiful medium red shimmer that I actually wore on Valentine's Day (I know, I am so behind on my swatches). The formula was also great and was on par with some of the best polishes out there (i.e. Rescue Beauty Lounge or Color Club). Again, the only downside of the polish is the price which is going to set you back with a hefty $17. That being said, it does have nourishing values with both tea tree oil and garlic bulb extract while maintaining a 3-Free status.

Dr.'s Remedy Winter Wonder-Nails: Desire Dark Brown

Dr.'s Remedy Desire Dark Brown (2 coats)

Hola! I posted a promo for Dr.'s Remedy polishes a few weeks ago and I was able to get my hands on 3 of them. Up first is Desire Dark Brown that comes from their Winter Wonder-Nails collection which is a deep cocoa brown creme. As with any new brand, I was interested in finding how what sets them apart and analyzing the formula. I'm happy to say that I was impressed with the formula and application on this one (and actually all three overall). The polish was very smooth and shiny, but perhaps isn't the most unique color. The only real downside of the polish is the higher price point at $17 each. From their website I learned a little more about the brand and I thought I'd share here:

Our Story:

The birth of Dr.'s REMEDY® began with a warning. Dr. Cirlincione's wife was pregnant and advised against using hair dyes, eating certain foods, and being exposed to harsh chemicals. Dr. Cirlincione began to research the toxins contained in most commercial nail polish, which is commonly used by pregnant women. It became obvious that formaldehyde, toluene and DBP are not only linked to serious health problems, but also potentially damaging to the nail as well.

Dr. Cirlincione partnered with Dr. Spielfogel and together they formulated Dr.'s REMEDY®, free from THE BIG 3, but also UNIQUELY ENRICHED with ingredients, such as tea tree oil and garlic bulb extract, which are naturally occurring anti-fungal, antibacterial, and healthier for the nail.
Not only is Dr.'s REMEDY® better for you, it comes in a rainbow of today's most fashionable colors.
  • Enhanced with naturally occurring anti-fungal ingredients and vitamins to promote healthier nails.
  • Appealing to women with discolored nails, pregnant women, or parents looking for safer alternatives for their children.
  • Allergen friendly for those sensitive to chemicals in commercial nail polish.
  • Enriched means a stronger, healthier looking nail, which is appealing to everyone.

LA Splash: Sparkling Stratosphere

LA Splash Sparkling Stratosphere (3 coats)

Here is another polish I got a lot time ago, but just got around to swatching. I love Sparkling Stratosphere in the bottle, but it just doesn't do it for me on the nail. This is three thick coats, and as you can see, didn't come close to covering those bald spots. It was pretty sticky as well so I could never really get full coverage. I love some LA Splash polishes, but this one just isn't a favorite.
