Polish Pickup January 2018 Crystals and Gemstones: Ever After Polish and Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish

Hi guys! I'm doing more traveling for work this week, so I'll be quiet this weekend. Oh, and it actually snowed today! Many of our flowering trees have bloomed in NC, so it's super sad to see this happen. Perhaps this will be the last snow of the year. Tonight I've got the 2 polishes I purchased during the Polish Pickup Crystals and Gemstones theme. If you haven't heard about Polish Pickup, let me give you a quick recap. First, definitely join the Polish Pickup Facebook Group. You don't necessarily need to actively participate in the group, but it will give you a look into the polishes coming that month. Do you hate it when a new indie box comes out with multiple brands and you only really love one of the colors? What do you do then? Destash the ones you don't want? Just suck it up and buy it and keep them all because you're too lazy to destash? Well, there's now a group and website called Polish Pickup that will open for suggestions for box themes for the upcoming month. Everyone votes, and the winner becomes the theme for a future box. Any indie brand can participate and has their own specific inspiration picture and polish for that month. All you need to do is go to the Polish Pickup site during the pre-order window (the first Friday-Monday of the month) to make all of your purchases of these exclusive polishes. There's no need to pay for multiple shipping charges; since this is a pre-order, all polishes get sent to Polish Pickup and they send you the polishes you ordered. Yup, it's that simple. Oh, and shipping is a flat-rate of $3 to the US (more for Canada and international). With that out of the way, shall we look at these beauties?

Ever After Polish Playing With Fire (3 coats)

This is my favorite polish from 2018 so far, hands down. Just look at those flakies! It's inspired by the fire opal, and looks just like stone! Ever After just released another full set of polishes inspired by opal stones and I bought a few of those, so I should be showing those in a couple weeks. Playing With Fire is a black jelly base with red to green shifting flakies and medium blue hexagonal glitter. I used 3 coats for added depth, but you may be able to get away with 2 coats. It dries with a bit of texture due to the larger flakes, but 1 coat of topcoat smooths everything out. Removal will require a little extra scrubbing, but it's totally worth it.

Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish Watermelon Tourmaline (2 coats)

You can find some pictures and information on watermelon tourmaline here. Tourmaline comes in many colors, but watermelon is probably my favorite of them all. The polish from Poetry Cowgirl is a burgundy and green duchrome with gold flakes and a scattered holo finish. My pictures really don't do this one justice. It hit full opacity at 2 coats, and applied easily. It dried with a smooth finish, but go ahead and add that topcoat for longevity.

I've got some good news and some bad news. First, the bad news: these are no longer available. You may be able to find these in a destash, but that's sort of unlikely. I guess there's always a chance they'll do a "best-sellers" month to bring back some of these. The good news is that the Polish Pickup has some new gorgeous polishes coming out next month with a space theme! Again, you can learn more about the Polish Pickup on their Facebook page and website with flat-rate shipping of just $3. What will you be buying?
