Hello hello! I hope your July has been going well. I left the state for the first time in a year and a half to go visit my husband's aunt in Maryland. I also had my parents visit again...it already feels like I've seen so many people! Tonight I have a whopping 8-piece collection to share with you from Noodles Nail Polish. In true Noodles form, there's a wide variety of colors and finishes, including a polish with NO glitter. I know! Don't worry, the polishes coming in August are still chock full of glitter. This collection will be releasing this Saturday, July 24th at 12 PM EST on the Noodles Nail Polish website. All polishes except for the glitter topper Sun Chaser ($9.50) will retail for $10 each.
This is an extremely picture-heavy post, so we need to get to the good stuff.
Best Techniques for Smoothing Out and Removing Glitter *updated 2/1/21*
Noodles Nail Polish is all about the glitter, all the time. While we all love the bling, it can be a pain to remove. Oh, and it can be known to eat topcoat which leaves texture on the nail after it dries. If you are especially sensitive to feeling your polish, make sure your topcoat is a thick one, or apply a second coat of a thinner one.
Instead of applying 2 coats of thick topcoat, several indie brands have come out with a product that you use after your last coat of polish and before your topcoat. These are generally thick and "fill in" the gaps left from the glitter. Here are several products I use and recommend (in no particular order):
1. Glitter Grabber from Glisten and Glow
2. Gelous from American Classics
3. Smooth from Painted Phalanges (dries with a matte finish unlike the others)
4. Smooth and Shine Duo from Esmaltes da Kelly (available through Polish Pickup some months)
I also use peel-off basecoats to make removal a breeze. I recommend UNT Ready for Take Off, or Hit the Bottle Keepin' it Peel as they both work well (I am not affiliated with either site or brand...I'm just sharing the love). The UNT works better for my body chemistry as the Hit the Bottle will sometimes pop off during the day. It seems like the UNT has been harder to find lately, so there's always the Holo Taco one if you really need one. If you want your polish to last a little longer, I completely understand. In that case, the foil method will work best for you when you're ready for a change. Clips like these are cheap and great for keeping the cotton balls in place. Noodles Nail Polish Bon Voyage (3 coats) ($10)
It's not a true Noodles Nail Polish Summer Collection without the perfect white crelly polish! Bon Voyage is a white crelly base with green/coral/neon green matte glitters and turquoise metallic hexagonal glitters. I didn't find this one to be overwhelming with the amount of glitter in it. I found the formula to be thinner than some other Noodles, but not in a bad way at all. I ended up using 3 thin coats for my photos, and it didn't dry with too much texture since there's not a whopping amount of glitter.
Noodles Nail Polish Fun in the Sun (3 coats) ($10)
Up next we have an extremely glitter dense polish called Fun in the Sun! It's a vibrant pink-leaning purple crelly base with white/blue/green/pink/orange/yellow matte glitters in various shapes. Circle glitter? Check. Hexagonal glitter? Check. Square glitter? Check. Hella bright glitter? Check. I think I need to put this on my toes next. I'm pretty sure if you put a glitter polish on your toes, it stays there forever, right? This is the epitome of a summer polish, don't you think? It dries with texture from the glitter, so check out my tips above to get a smooth finish on the nail.
Noodles Nail Polish Lake Life (3 coats) ($10)
Lake Life is definitely a top pick from the collection. The jelly finish really reminds me of clear blue water. Lake Life is a vibrant blue jelly finish with green/gold/copper color shifting flakes, neon green matte glitters, turquoise metallic micro flakes, and fine silver holo glitters. As I'm sure you all know, I'm also a huge flakie fan, and Natalie does a wonder job of combining glitter and flakes. Since it's a jelly, it's a bit sheerer, so it needed 3 medium coats to fully cover. Love it!
Noodles Nail Polish Long Time No Sea (2 coats) ($10)
I must have a thing for blues because Long Time No Sea is another top pick for me. It just so happens this is the one polish with NO glitter in it. That also means you only need a thin coat of topcoat because this baby is smooth! Long Time No Sea is a beautiful cornflower blue crelly base with silver holo flakes, and metallic turquoise micro flakes. The crelly base is a bit more opaque than usual (it leans more like a cream) and it only needed 2 coats for full coverage.
Noodles Nail Polish Oh For Shore! (3 coats) ($10)
So this is 3 for 3 of my top picks...and yes, it has blue in it. When I first looked at this one, I thought it was white, but after I put it on, you could definitely see this is more of an ivory/cream. Oh For Shore! is a cream-colored crelly base with metallic turquoise glitters and turquoise shimmer. I really hope you can see the shimmer, because it's gorgeous. I went ahead and used 3 thin coats for my photos, but you may be able to get away with 2 if you use thick coats or have shorter nails.
Noodles Nail Polish Sea Mist (3 coats) ($10)
Stop. The. Clock. When I pulled this one out of the box, I literally gasped. I just purchased a backup bottle of Polished for Days' Hitchhiking Ghosts from PPU Rewind because I loved that turquoise/blue shift. Sea Mist has that similar shift, but with flakes and glitter. I repeat, that similar shift with added goodies. The official description of Sea Mist is a turquoise to blue shifting polish with holo and silver metallic flakes, and silver holo glitters. This one is a bit sheerer than others, likely to show that color shift. I used 3 thicker coats for my swatches, but you could always use undies to make it more opaque.
Noodles Nail Polish Sun Chaser (1 coat over black and 3 coats alone) ($9.50)
Sun Chaser is the glitter topper of the collection aka a sunset in a bottle. It's a clear base with yellow/orange/red/light purple/pink matte glitters and pink holo glitters/microshreds. As you can see, you can use this one alone in 3 thicker coats (using a dabbing motion) or just a single layer over a base color of your choosing. I think it looks great either way to be honest.
Noodles Nail Polish Vacay Mode (3 coats) ($10)
Last, but certainly not least, we have Vacay Mode which is a vibrant seafoam green crelly base with yellow/white/green/pink matte glitters. I've always been fond of pink and green together. And that circular glitter! Natalie never ceases to amaze me with her color combinations. I used 3 thin coats for my photos, and it dried with texture from the glitter.
There you have it, folks! After looking over the collection, I really get a beachy vibe with lots of blues which obviously I'm a fan of. My top picks from the collection have to be Sea Mist (#1 must have!), Oh For Shore, Lake Life, and Long Time No Sea. Don't forget, this is a Saturday and not a Friday release, so set your alarms!
