Nibs & Nails Presents Frenzy Polish in Emerald of Chivor (Inspired by J Herbin Ink) | Swatches and Giveaway

*press samples*

Hi guys! Tonight is a bittersweet post because Frenzy Polish announced last week that she is closing her doors. I've been a huge fan of Rachel and her brand, so I am super bummed about it. Currently her store has been restocked and most polishes are still in stock, but the turnaround time is ~3 weeks. If you have ever wanted to try them, get purchasing now! If not, you still have 2 chances to win this week's Nibs & Nails polish inspired by the J Herbin ink called Emerald of Chivor. If you were still under the impression that fountain pen inks were boring, I think this ink will quickly change your mind. Information and giveaway widget can be found at the end of this post.

As I say every week, please head over to my husband's ink blog called Inkdependence for more swatches of the ink and his thoughts on how well it works in fountain pens.

J Herbin Emerald of Chivor ink on Tomoe River paper with artificial light

J Herbin Emerald of Chivor ink on Tomoe River paper with natural sunlight - that sheen and shimmer!!

On Rhodia Paper:
Top: J Herbin Emerald of Chivor
Middle: Frenzy Polish (2 coats, matte)
Bottom: Frenzy Polish (2 coats, w/topcoat)

First of all, look how you can really see the red sheen on the Tomoe River paper (it's a Japanese paper that doesn't soak up ink well) and it's basically nonexistent on the Rhodia paper. The ink is green or teal depending on the angle and always has that golden sheen. If you have the right paper and/or pen, the red color will stand out. The ink is very unique, and I knew it would be hard to duplicate. Rachel was up to the challenge and ended up making beautiful polish. This is more of an interpretation of the ink than a dead-on dupe, and that's what I expected. The base color is extremely close to the ink, but the polish has ultrachrome flakes you would never be able to have in a fountain pen ink (it would clog the feed with too large of a particle size). I did my best to capture the red of the polish...it's there, I promise!

Frenzy Polish Emerald of Chivor (2 coats)

Rachel is known for complex polishes, but this is over-the-top. The color saturation, flakies, red microglitter, gold shimmer...I'm sure I'm missing more aspects. I love this polish, and I wish she would have been able to release this to the public. The formula was thick in a good way. I would definitely use a good basecoat with it because it's that type of color to stain nails or cuticles.

Again, stop by her store now for the last of her stock. I was given 2 polishes to give away to 2 lucky winners, so make sure to enter now!

What a beautiful unique polish! The macro shot reminds me of Christmas and is simply stunning! Rachel did an amazing job at capturing the beauty within the ink.

The last book I read is called The Raven King, it's the last book in a series called The Raven Cycle. I was super sad for it to end but I absolutely loved it! Thank you for an awesome giveaway!

Last book series I read was Her Viking Wolf by Theodora Taylor and yes I loved it and the series that folled it. Theodora Taylor writes some great books, if you are a fan of the genre.

Girl On The Train was the last book I read. I was really excited for it since so many reviewers were saying it was a great read but it was a flop for me. I'm glad I was able to borrow a copy from the library before I thought about purchasing.

Absolutely in love with this polish! She really did an outstanding job on this. The last book I read, is the book I'm still reading, Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk. He's my favorite writer and I brought 2 of his books with me to Portugal, but didn't actually really get to reading them. Had too much fun. Haha!

This polish is amazing! EOC is my favorite 1670 shade and this captures it perfectly. The last book I read was Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I love games, I love books, so this was an absolutely engaging read for me. I can't wait for the movie adaptation by Spielberg!
