Polish Pickup December 2019: Winter is Coming Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving yesterday! It's always nice to be around family this time of year. Have you taken advantage of any Black Friday sales so far? I've definitely made a few purchases, but I'm doing good pacing myself. If you are interested in seeing this year's Black Friday sales, go check this link as you have through Monday for most brands.

PPU is doing things a little differently for December. Instead of starting on the first Friday of the month, PPU will start Monday, December 2nd at 11:00 AM ET and end on Friday, Dec. 6th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a cap and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone, unless you get lucky and the cap gets raised...which is rare) on the PPU website. I believe they are trying to get things out before the holiday break. I have 3 polishes to share with you this month, so make sure to check the site now to start your wishlist.

Noodles Nail Polish Red Cup Season (2 coats)
Inspiration: Starbuck Holiday red cups
Price: $11.50
Cap: No cap

Up first is the Noodles Nail Polish shade called Red Cup Season which is a festive cherry red crelly base with silver holo flakes, red and silver holo glitters, and fine red flakes. I've worn this one twice already, and I foresee me wearing this over the holidays again. It was very opaque and barely needed a second coat. It dried with texture from the glitter, so make sure to wear a thicker topcoat, or double up on a thinner one to smooth it all off.

Soothing Soul Nail Lacquer Icicle (3 coats)
Inspiration: Icicles
Price: $12.50
Cap: 75 bottles

I'm so happy to see some different finishes this month. Soothing Soul Nail Lacquer was inspired by a photo of icicles to come up with this month's polish. Icicle is a light blue base with hints of dark blue, purple, and silver with a foiled metallic finish. This is 3 thin coats, and while you can see hints of visible nail line in photos, you couldn't see it in real life (it's that bright lighting that causes it). It applied easily, and dries with no texture! I would still add a layer of topcoat for longevity. Love it!

Static Lacquer Frozen Thermal Nights (3 coats) *not a thermal polish*
Inspiration: Yellowstone National Park in Winter
Price: $12
Cap: 150 bottles

Last, but not least, is Frozen Thermal Nights which was inspired by a photograph of the thermal springs in Yellowstone National Park in the winter. This is NOT a thermal polish, just inspired by the thermal springs. I know I've mentioned that a few times; I just wanted to make sure it's clear to everyone. This is a light dusty purple holo base with a flash of bright purple and UCC flakes. I really love the balance of holo and flakes in this one. It just doesn't feel overdone. I used 3 thin coats for my photos, and it dried with no texture. Again, I'd add a layer of topcoat for longevity.

There you have it, folks. Don't forget, the sale goes live on Monday instead of Friday. The website is open right now for wish listing, so make sure to check it out and get your orders in early. What do you think? Which ones are you picking up?
