OPI Spring 2011 Texas Collection: Suzi Loves Cowboys

For real this time, this is the final OPI Texas collection polish I have. I thought I had cropped these photos a long time ago, but apparently I was wrong. Oop! Suzi Loves Cowboys (really, what doesn't Suzi love?) is a deep chocolate brown creme that is certainly an interesting polish for a spring collection. I ended up having to wait a day until I could take the picture because it was so dark that it was not cooperating with my indoor light system. So yes, I was finally able to take a picture outdoors and I think it is pretty color accurate. The application was fine for the most part (it was slightly runny) and was not as pigmented as I'd expected (it needed 3 coats). If you don't have many chocolate browns, this would make a nice addition.

CQ Nail Polish: Golden Green

I don't know if I've mentioned it recently, but I've been working on a website for my new lab. My good friend was kind enough to go through Adobe Dreamweaver and CSS with me, so I have all these grand ideas for the blog. For now, I'm working on a professional website, but I hope to incorporate what I've learned towards the blog. 

Remember how I tried my first CQ polish a few weeks ago? Well, I ended up getting two, and boy is it a beauty! Golden Green is an olive green polish with a bit of a golden sheen to it. For some reason it reminds me of something that BB Couture would do (they have such awesome greens). For a drugstore brand (and the inexpensive price), I was impressed with the formula and the brush. The bottle shape doesn't blow me away, but it is definitely better than bottles such as Nicole. I know some of you love the Nicole bottles, but I just can't get into them. I have to admit that I am extremely impressed with CQ polishes and I would definitely buy more of them. Again, you can only find them at Rite Aid and Walmart stores.

LA Splash: Crimson Tide

Haha, Crimson Tide. I dunno, it makes me crack up every time. You may or may not know that the Crimson Tide is actually the team name for the University of Alabama (or, depending on your view, the movie Crimson Tide with Denzel Washington). The name had nothing to do with my love for the polish. Crimson Tide is a deep crimson jelly polish with gold and ruby glitter throughout. Is it just me, or do you see some hints of brown and purple in there as well? This one is just so gorgeous and vampy! The formula was pretty good on this one, but it will still need about 3 coats. You can find LA Splash polishes online at Cherry Culture or at your local Ulta store.

Once upon a time, I was a hater of nude nail colors. After becoming a nail blogger, I've come to find neutral polishes a welcomed change when I'm (rarely) sick of having bright or dark colors on my nails. Unfortunately nude polishes tend to be quite sheer (which often annoys me), so Zoya came out with 3 new nude polishes that are opaque. Here's what Zoya has to say about their new polishes:

Essence Colour & Go: Underwater

My birthday was forever ago, but I'm just now getting to a picture of my birthday mani! I should be ashamed of how backed up I am. Underwater is part of the main collection from Essence and is a dusty navy blue shimmer. I wish I was a better photographer and could accurately show the shimmer in this because it is really beautiful. The shimmer is also blue, which is likely why it is so hard to capture. The formula was absolutely wonderful and was very pigmented (it only needed 2 coats). I would definitely recommend this polish!
