Great Lakes Lacquer The Ladies of GLL Series : Scruffers

*purchased with blogger discount*

Great Lakes Lacquer Scruffers (3 coats)

Hi guys! Tonight I have a polish from Great Lakes Lacquer that is no longer available. Every month Mariah has been creating custom polishes for her special bloggers. In November, Mariah welcomed Polish Etc. to the list of custom creations. Scruffers is a polish in memory of Amy's dog named Oscar who passed away suddenly. I am super sad about this. I love dogs, and had to give Scraggles a big hug and kiss on the dog head to calm me down. I know others have had custom polishes made in memory of a family member or animal and it's something I'd consider if it suddenly happened to me.

Scruffers the polish is a mustard yellow crelly with copper shimmer and gold/copper/magenta ultrachrome flakes. It reminds me a little of my other favorite polish from Great Lakes Lacquer called The Last Sliver of Sun, but with larger flakes and a mustard yellow color instead of a muted yellow. I happen to be a yellow polish fan, and if you are as well, you should look for this on destashes. I used 3 coats for full coverage, but if you don't mind a tiny big of VNL, you could probably get away with 2. Like all of my GLL polishes, the formula was perfect.

Great Lakes Lacquer has moved away from Etsy to a BigCartel site found here. There are also some sample prototypes still for sale, so get them while you still can. Make sure to check out what Great Lakes Lacquer is up to on their Facebook and Instagram pages as well.

Barielle Fall 2014 Couture Me Collection Swatches and Reviews: Berry Posh and Boho Chic

*press samples*

Hi guys! I can't believe it's Wednesday already. Tonight I have 2 polishes from the Barielle Couture Me collection which features 6 cremes. Shall we investigate further?

Barielle Berry Posh (2 coats)

Up first is Berry Posh which is a berry pink creme. It's a very OPI-like polish, right? It's not the most unique color in the world, but it's a really fall-appropriate color. It had a great formula and application in just 2 coats.

Barielle Boho Chic (2 coats)

Now this is more interesting! Boho Chic is a deepened forest green creme with some blue undertones (so perhaps it's more of a teal?). It's a great color for fall or even winter if you ask me. This has a bit of  "ugly bottle syndrome" but it had no impact on the color on the nail at all. Perhaps if I shook it a bit more the bottle would have looked a little better. I didn't do this because the shaking would add air bubbles to the polish, and I was looking to avoid that. Pictures show just 2 simple coats. I should note that I had no problem with staining with this polish, but it's the type of color that is notorious for it, so double up on basecoat.

Currently Berry Posh is available with the ProSina finish, and I couldn't find Boho Chic on their website at all. Sorry for posting a polish that isn't currently available! As I mentioned yesterday, the regular polishes retail for $8 ($9 for the ProSina colors) on their website, but check the sales or free shipping offers on their Facebook pageTwitter, or Instagram pages.

Barielle Spring 2015 Gentle Breeze Collection Swatches and Review: Under the Sea

*press sample*

Barielle Under the Sea (2 coats)

Hi guys! The name of the polish I have for you tonight has me all nostalgic for The Little Mermaid. Who doesn't love the song "Under the Sea" from Sebastian the crab? My parents still have these 2 stuffed Christmas ornaments of Sebastian and Flounder at home. I haven't seen the movie in years, but I definitely need to check it out. Actually, I don't think it's on Netflix or Amazon Prime streaming services, so I'll have to find another way to get my fix.

Under the Sea comes from the spring 2015 Barielle Gentle Breeze collection and is a medium teal shade with strong green undertones and subtle silver shimmer. I love a good teal, especially during the summer. The formula was a bit thin, but it built up to full opacity in just 2 coats.

I really enjoy Barielle polishes, and they are definitely an underrated brand. The regular polishes retail for $8 ($9 for the ProSina colors) on their website, but check the sales or free shipping offers on their Facebook pageTwitter, or Instagram pages.

Right on the Nail ~ New Barielle with ProSina Signature Collection Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! I've been a fan of Barielle polishes for many years and tonight I have something brand new to share with you. They have a new line of polishes infused with ProSina which is a a specialized type of keratin with polypeptides that help strengthen, condition, and protect the nails. You may remember my posts from the brand Dermelect who also utilize ProSina. While I enjoyed those polishes, they also happen to be $14 each. Eep! All 0.45 fl oz Signature Barielle polishes retail for only $9. I should also mention that the Signature polishes have a new rounded bottle that hold the same amount as the Shades polishes. Now we have all of that information out of the way, how about we get to some swatches to see if they apply normally?

Right on the Nail ~ Barielle Spring 2015 Gentle Breeze Collection Swatches and Review: Heaven Sent

Barielle Heaven Sent (3 coats)

*press sample*

It's been awhile since I've posted a Barielle polish, so tonight I have a color from their spring collection called Heaven Sent. It's a soft blue creme that dries slightly darker on the nail. Oh, did you notice my lobster hands? Just when I think a blue polish won't do that to me anymore, this happens. Just go ahead and imagine that my skin isn't a crazy color of red. I found this color to be nice, but nothing to write home about. The formula was a bit streaky on the first coat and needed 3 coats to cover the nail line.

Their polishes normally run $8 on their website, but check the sales or free shipping offers on their Facebook page or Twitter, too.

Right on the Nail ~ Barielle Fall 2014 Jetsetter Collection Swatches and Reviews: Midnight in Paris and Rain in Spain

*press samples*

Barielle Midnight in Paris (2 coats)

Barielle Rain in Spain (2 coats)

Happy Friday! Our department holiday party is tonight so I'm decked out in holiday gear (and green fingers, of course).

I have the final 2 polishes from the Jetsetter collection from Barielle. Both are blues, but very different kinds of blues. Up first is Midnight in Paris which is a navy blue with blue and purple shimmer. Very dark and very opaque. The last polish is Rain in Spain which is a surprise for the collection because it is a very light periwinkle blue pastel color. Pastel and fall usually don't go together, but I like that Barielle stepped out of the box for this one. As always, the formula and application was great on all of them.

Right now Barielle is having a great sale every day. Sign up to get e-mails of their deals here. Their polishes normally run $8, but check the sales or free shipping offers on their Facebook page or Twitter, too.

Right on the Nail ~ Barielle Fall 2014 Jetsetter Collection Swatches and Reviews: Autumn in Seoul and Irish Eyes

*press samples*

Barielle Autumn in Seoul (2 coats)

Barielle Irish Eyes (2 coats)

What screams fall more than a metallic copper polish? Some people are against browns, but Autumn in Seoul may change your mind. Oh, and I Googled it and apparently autumn is the best time to go to Korea. I've been to Seoul 3 times and it was fairly cold every time I was there. Anyway, the formula and application was great in 2 coats, but I've seen others with longer nails say they needed 3.

We have another green in this collection, but this time it's a darker mossy green creme. It's a little dusty to be a true green for the holidays, but it's close enough. Irish Eyes also dries darker on the nail than the bottle, so be aware of that. Again, I never really have application issues, and this was no different.

Barielle had another sale today where you could get 5 polishes for $5 shipped. I don't know how fast these sell out, but I checked today at 11 and they were already sold out. Make sure to check for these great deals in the morning! Their polishes normally run $8, but check their sales or free shipping offers on their Facebook page or Twitter, too.

Right on the Nail ~ Barielle Fall 2014 Jetsetter Collection Swatches and Reviews: Gondola Ride and Kiss Me Kate

*press samples*

Barielle Gondola Ride (2 coats)

Barielle Kiss Me Kate (2 coats)

Happy Tuesday! I hope you're off to a good start of the week and getting your Christmas shopping done! Right now you can get Barielle's other 6-piece fall collection called Jetsetter. Up first is Gondola Ride which is a light sage green creme that self-leveled and only needed 2 coats. There are actually 2 green polishes in this collection which is a bit strange for a fall collection. I think it's strange in a good way. I think the problem people have is that the other one is so close in color to Gondola Ride, You'll see for yourself tomorrow.

The second polish is Kiss Me Kate which is a nude mannequin hand creme. It's nothing unique, but everyone needs a good nude polish and this one matches my coloring pretty well (I think my coloring is more yellow and Kiss Me Kate is a bit more pink). Like pretty much all Barielle polishes, this is a perfect 2-coater. Right now Barielle is having a sale every day. For example, today was 5 polishes for $5 and free shipping that easily sold out. Sign up to get e-mails of their deals here. Their polishes normally run $8, but check their sales or free shipping offers on their Facebook page or Twitter, too.

Barielle Me Couture Collection Fall 2014: Moda Bleu and Vintage Gown

Barielle Moda Bleu (2 coats)

Barielle Vintage Gown (2 coats)

*press samples*

Today is the last of the Me Couture Collection. I have a few Halloween polishes to show before getting to some of the Zoya polishes. As always, stay tuned for more Fall collections as well.

Moda Bleu is a deep navy crelly that is extremely shiny (this is showing no topcoat). The application was smooth and only needed 2 heavy coats for full coverage, or 3 thin coats. I'm loving these dark blues this fall! The final polish is a deep, dusty mauve with gold shimmer that isn't really visible called Vintage Gown. I dunno, I think the name really fits the polish. It's a nice office appropriate color. As always, the formula and application was wonderful.

Overall, I was really happy with the collection. If I had to choose my favorites, they would be Boho Chic, Moda Bleu and Vintage Gown. Barielle polishes can be found on their website or e-tailers like Transdesign. They often have sales or free shipping, so keep an eye on their Facebook page or Twitter. For example, just a few weeks ago they were offering a 20% off sale with free shipping!

Barielle Me Couture Fall 2014 Collection Swatches and Reviews: Soho at Night and Taupe Notch

Barielle Soho at Night (2 coats)

Barielle Taupe Notch (2 coats)

*press samples*

Oh Monday. That's all I have to say is, oh Monday.

Continuing with the Barielle Me Couture Collection is Soho at Night which is a medium grape purple creme. The formula was a bit watery and sheer, as you can see from the few bald spots...overall, it pretty much covered in 2 coats. The second color is Taupe Notch which, of course, is a taupe creme. I always love colors like these, and this is no exception. This had the perfect application and formula I expect from Barielle.

Barielle polishes can be found on their website or e-tailers like Transdesign. They often have sales or free shipping, so keep an eye on their Facebook page or Twitter. For example, just a few weeks ago they were offering a 20% off sale with free shipping!

Barielle Me Couture Fall 2014 Collection Swatches and Reviews: Berry Posh & Boho Chic

Barielle Berry Posh (2 coats)

Barielle Boho Chic (2 coats)

*press samples*

Boo, it's Sunday! Weekends just go by too quickly. Yesterday I watched Gone Girl with my husband and we both loved it. I read the book, and the movie followed the book like clockwork.

Anyway, I have the Barielle Me Couture fall collection to show you over the next couple days, and I am very impressed. If you just look at the 2 colors I have to show tonight, don't they look great together? Up first is Berry Posh which is a berry fuchsia creme. It's not very unique (doesn't OPI have one of these for every collection?), but that doesn't mean it isn't pretty. Barielle always has a great application and formula, and this is no exception.

The second color is called Boho Chic and is a deep forest green (and I mean deep) creme. Despite being dark, it never looks black. As I said above, Barielle has a great formula, but this one seemed a little thin. My application was horrible, and I apologize for these swatches.

Barielle polishes can be found on their website or e-tailers like Transdesign. They often have sales or free shipping, so keep an eye on their Facebook page or Twitter. For example, just a few weeks ago they were offering a 20% off sale with free shipping!
