Polish Pickup April 2023 Flowers: Noodles Nail Polish

 *press sample*

Hello hello! I just got home from working a trade show in Atlanta this weekend, and I'm exhausted. I didn't get home until 11 PM last night, and then I had to get up at 7 to go back into work. So. Much. Work. Anyway, this Friday Polish Pickup is upon us once again. Wishlisting is open, so you can browse at your leisure until it goes live on Friday, April 7th. This month's theme is Flowers which is appropriate since last month was Rainy Days. April is my favorite month because spring is in full bloom, it has my birthday, and I want all the Easter candy. Also make sure to join the Polish Pickup Pack Facebook Group as swatches pop up there all the time.

The shop officially opens at 11:00 AM ET Friday, April 7th and ends on Monday, April 10th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a bottle limit and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone, unless you get lucky and the cap gets raised...which is rare) on the PPU website. Just a heads-up, PPU raised their base shipping rates from $3 to $4 for the lightest packages. USPS keeps raising their prices, so at some point it gets too high and brands cannot eat those prices forever. Let's get a closer look at this month's Noodles Nail Polish offering.

Noodles Nail Polish Oh the Places You'll Grow (3 coats)
Inspiration: Succulents
Price: $12.00
Bottle Limit: 200 bottles

You've probably noticed that Noodles Nail Polish does not have a bottle limit most months, but please be aware there is a cap of 200. I say this because this may be my favorite polish Natalie has ever done for Polish Pickup! I know that seems dramatic, but Oh the Places You'll Grow just glows on the nails. It's a sheerish light periwinkle crelly base with teal/aqua/green shifting flakes, silver holo glitter, and pale blue matte glitters. The flakes really catch the light and show the iridescence. You may be able to get away with 2 or 3 coats depending on how thick you apply the polish. I used 3 thin coats, and it does dry with texture, so I recommend a glitter topcoat filler followed by a quick-dry topcoat for a smooth finish.

There you have it, folks! Reminder, this one has a bottle limit, so don't delay in case they sell out. You can find out more about Noodles Nail Polish on their websiteInstagram pageFacebook page, and Facebook Fan Group

Noodles Nail Polish Winter Collection 2023 Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hello hello! I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day! If you're an old reader of the blog, you'll know my husband and I go to IHOP for Valentine's Day, but we decided to change it up this year and get our packcakes elsewhere. The service just isn't great (likely because it's not a destination spot for a Valentine's Day dinner 😂) so it's time for something new. If you missed it, don't forget to check out last week's post featuring the Valentine's Day trio. It's been a busy couple weeks of releases for Noodles Nail Polish! Tonight I have the new 8-piece collection to share with you, and it will be available this Friday, February 17th at 5 PM EST on the Noodles website for $10.50.

This is gonna be very pic-heavy, so let's get to it, shall we?

The fall Nostalgic Collection is a 6-piece set of creams that are still available and retail for $12 each. Swatch time!

Noodles Nail Polish Winter 2019 Collection Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! It's been a busy week for the blog, and we're not done yet. Tonight I've got the Noodles Nail Polish Winter Collection to share with you. This is quite appropriate since so many people are experiencing the Arctic blast hitting the US this week. Please be safe, and make sure to take care of all your pets, too. The set consists of 5 crellies and 1 jelly polish (with a bonus re-release of last year's Eskimo Kiss...Natalie didn't have the recipe anymore, so she recreated it as version 2.0). These will release with the Valentine's Day duo on 2/1/19 at 6:00 PM ET on the new Noodles Nail Polish website. They will retail for $9.50 or $10 depending on the shade (I'll label each with the price below). Enough chatting, shall we get to the good stuff?

Cameo Colours Lacquers Polish Pickup (PPU) Shades from Mystery Bag

Hi guys! I hope you had a great weekend. It's my husband's birthday today, so we went out to dinner and shopped yesterday since we both had to work today. Also, bad news, the hurricane Florence is headed straight for us, so I'm not sure how much I'll be posting this week. I don't live extremely close to the coast, but the storm is supposed to stop right above us and stick around for many days through the weekend so there's a good chance for flooding. Yeah, not fun. Wish us luck. Anyway, tonight I have 3 Polish Pickup (PPU) shades from Cameo Colours Lacquers to show you. Bad news, these were all exclusives to PPU, so they aren't available anymore, but good news, I got these through the Mystery Bag on her website. She does her best to accommodate color or finish requests, but there isn't a guarantee. I left a note in my order saying I was interested in her PPU shades, and she was able to get me 3 of them. Shall we  get to some swatches?

*press samples*

Hi guys! So everyone has the flu. Well, I'm still going strong, but that's pretty much it. Is it going around near you? Tonight I'm finally going back to review the Winter 2017 Collection from Zoya. It's a 12-piece set with cremes, jellies, duochromes, and shimmers oh my! I love when there's a little bit of something for everyone. Hit that button below to see some pretty polishes.

Zoya Holiday 2016 Enchanted Collection Swatches and Reviews Part I

*press samples*

Hi guys! It was a manic Monday, but that's how most of them are at my newish job. I had a great weekend because I was in our local holiday parade with my husband and Scraggles the dog. Scraggles' daycare had a float and they had the daycare dogs walk together through the streets. Anyway, tonight I have the first 3 polishes from Zoya's Holiday Enchanted Collection. This was released last month and features 4 PixieDust polishes and 2 shimmers. Without further ado, let's do this!

Great Lakes Lacquer August 2016 Limited Edition Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! Sorry for the lack of Nibs & Nails this week, but it's just been a really hectic getting all of these giveaways together. All previous winners have been contacted, so if you haven't heard from me, you haven't won (yet). There are plenty more giveaways to come, so you still have a chance to be a winner (I mean, we're all winners here anyway, right?). In other blog news, I should probably let you guys know that I will be on vacation next week. Don't miss me too much! I try not to take many blog breaks, but it happens from time-to-time.

Great Lakes Lacquer will be releasing 3 limited edition polishes on August, 1st at 3:00 PM EST in their Etsy shop. While you're there, pick up my duo of Nibs & Nails polishes inspired by Diamine fountain pen inks for $15 (you save $1 that way). Shall we get started?

Right on the Nail ~ Great Lakes Lacquer Limited Editions for June 2016 Swatches and Reviews

*purchased with a blogger discount*

Hi guys! I hope you're having a good Memorial Day today if you're in the US. This weekend is the Raleigh Pen show so I'll be working that for 3 days. Hopefully I'll be able to work ahead on swatches and posts so it won't affect the blog. Tonight I have the 3 limited edition polishes that will be released on June 1st at 3:00 PM EST in the Great Lakes Lacquer Etsy shop page and will be available through July 2nd at 2:00 PM EST. The polishes are loosely based on the latest Pantone's Colors of the Year, which are Rose Quartz and Serenity (click the link to see what those look like). Yup, this year there are 2! Follow me after the break to see what Mariah cooked up for us this month!

Right on the Nail ~ OPI Spring 2016 New Orleans Collection Swatches and Reviews: I'm Sooo Swamped and Show Us Your Tips!

Hi guys! Tonight I have 2 polishes from the latest OPI collection that features polishes inspired by New Orleans (and I'm assuming Mardi Gras). I, like many other bloggers, thought the collection would be full of fun and bright colors that Mardi Gras is known for. OPI decided to go a bit of a different direction, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed by some of the muted tones they included. Despite this, I still enjoyed the 2 colors I have to show you tonight. Swatch time!

Right on the Nail ~ Love, Angeline Spring 2015 Chateau Macaron Swatches and Review: Parisian Jewel

Love, Angeline Parisian Jewel (3 coats)

Tonight I have the final Love, Angeline polish called Parisian Jewel which is a periwinkle matte color. This also has the same shimmer as the others, but this was the hardest to see. I found it to be the chalkiest of them all and was very streaky on the first couple coats. Most nails needed 3 coats, but a couple were still streaky and needed a 4th. Overall, even with the application issues, I still think these looked beautiful on the nail.

This collection is still available in regular ($10) and mini ($5) sizes. Feel free to learn more about Love, Angeline on their websiteFacebook page, and Instagram.

Right on the Nail ~ SinfulColors Spring 2015 Bloomblast Glitter Collection Swatches and Reviews: Petal Be the Day

SinfulColors Petal Be the Day (2 coats) over 1 coat China Glaze What a Pansy

*press sample*

Tonight I have the last polish from the SinfulColors BloomBlast Collection called Petal Be the Day. Of course the first thing I thought of was That'll Be the Day from Buddy Holly & the Crickets (RIP Buddy Holly). I thought that Petal Be the Day would be like the other 2 colors from the BloomBlast collection...but no. The base pretty much has no color at all. I ended up using China Glaze's What a Pansy as a base to give that dusty periwinkle color with royal blue and purple glitter. I wish the base had more pigment, so I would have to recommend Flower Power and Standing Bloom Only over Petal Be the Day. TGIF!

You can find this collection now at your local Walgreens, Rite Aid and other mass retailers for only $1.99. Make sure to look for sales that only make them $0.99. Also check out SinfulColors on TwitterInstagram and Facebook.

Right on the Nail ~ Barielle Fall 2014 Jetsetter Collection Swatches and Reviews: Midnight in Paris and Rain in Spain

*press samples*

Barielle Midnight in Paris (2 coats)

Barielle Rain in Spain (2 coats)

Happy Friday! Our department holiday party is tonight so I'm decked out in holiday gear (and green fingers, of course).

I have the final 2 polishes from the Jetsetter collection from Barielle. Both are blues, but very different kinds of blues. Up first is Midnight in Paris which is a navy blue with blue and purple shimmer. Very dark and very opaque. The last polish is Rain in Spain which is a surprise for the collection because it is a very light periwinkle blue pastel color. Pastel and fall usually don't go together, but I like that Barielle stepped out of the box for this one. As always, the formula and application was great on all of them.

Right now Barielle is having a great sale every day. Sign up to get e-mails of their deals here. Their polishes normally run $8, but check the sales or free shipping offers on their Facebook page or Twitter, too.

Sally Hansen Summer 2014 Color Foil Collection Swatches and Reviews: Cobalt Chrome and Leadened Lilac

*press samples*

Sally Hansen Cobalt Chrome (2 coats)

Cobalt Chrome is a medium blue chrome with a hint of green. I like these darker colors since the color really stands out more.

Sally Hansen Leadened Lilac (2 coats)

Leadened Lilac does not remind me of a lilac color at all, but more of a periwinkle. Again, I like this darker purple compared to the lighter pinks and purples.

*semi-repost of application and formula with a few new additions*
So I received the brand new Color Foil Collection and I was so excited to try them out....that is, until I tried applying them. I'm sure you've all heard by now, you really have to have perfect nails for this to look good. Unfortunately, I don't have perfect nails, as you can see above. I tried using several basecoats and let them dry completely before applying polish, but it would always clump up the polish. I didn't want to buff my nails because I need them to be as strong as possible with all the acetone I use on them (most of you probably don't have this problem and this will likely help you). You also can't use a topcoat, but that is no issue at all since they dry extremely fast. They are all very pigmented, and you could likely get away with just 1 coat, but I wanted to try and cover my ridges, so I used 2 for all swatches. Make sure to shake these like a Polaroid picture before applying since the pigments can settle. These also work very well for stamping, so you nail artists out there will love these! The bottles actually have a plastic covering over the glass, but the covering color is extremely close to the color in the bottle. I sort of think it looks a little cheap, but that's just my opinion. Overall, I'm torn on these. If you don't look closely at my nails (like you guys are-eek!), then it looks really cool, but I feel that my swatches are terrible. What do you think?

You can find these at your local drugstores or Target for ~6.99-$7.99. For more information on what's going on at Sally Hansen, stop by their Facebook or Twitter pages.

China Glaze Spring 2013 Avant Garden Collection Swatch and Review: Fade Into Hue

China Glaze Fade Into Hue (2 coats)

Remember when I said I wanted to get more Avant Garden polishes? Well, I was looking through my pictures and found out that I took this one forever ago and completely forgot about it. Oops! Fade Into Hue is a dusty periwinkle blue that was streaky and a bit sheer on the first coat, but completely covered in 2. This one is just perfect for spring and is very beautiful. It may not be the most unique, but it's pretty nonetheless.

China Glaze Spring 2014 City Flourish Collection Swatch and Review: What a Pansy

China Glaze What a Pansy (2 coats)

I picked up What a Pansy during the Sally's Beauty Supply buy 1 get 1 free sale they had at the end of last month (I think they still have a buy 2 get 1 free polish going on through the end of the month). I'm not really sure what drew me to this polish; I guess it's the pretty periwinkle color that won me over. Well, that and the name which cracks me up. It leans more purple, but you know what happens to purple polishes in pictures. I'm happy to report that the formula and application was much better than the Grass is Lime Greener which was a mess.

Why does the weekend have to go by so fast?

Rescue Beauty Lounge Swatches: Catherine H and Turn It Around

Rescue Beauty Lounge Catherine H (2 coats)

Rescue Beauty Lounge Turn It Around (2 coats)

Tonight I have a couple more Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes to show, with the first coming from The Real Housewives of Tudor England Collection called Catherine H for Catherine Howard. Poor Catherine Howard was beheaded :-( On a brighter note, the polish is a dusty periwinkle blue color with gold and pink shimmer throughout. So beautiful! It had a wonderful application and formula in only 2 coats.

Up next is Turn It Around which comes from the Emoting Me Collection and is a mossy green color with lots of bronze and copper shimmer. This one is so complex it was hard to figure what the colors really were at first glance. The shimmer in it is so pronounced, it almost takes away from the green color. Again, great formula and application. This one is just perfect for winter and fall. You can Rescue Beauty Lounge on their online storeFacebookTwitter or Instagram.
