Polish Pickup May 2024 It Came from Outer Space: Swamp Gloss Always Has Been

 *press sample*

Hello again, I'm back so soon! Tonight I've got the other Polish Pickup shade to share with you this month. I've purchased many Swamp Gloss shades over the years, so I was so happy to win the opportunity to swatch this month's PPU shade. Again, this month's theme is "It Came from Outer Space" which I thought was a theme in the past, but I think I'm wrong. I did a little searching, but I can't find another space PPU theme.

The shop officially opens at 11:00 AM ET Friday, May 3rd and ends on Monday, May 6th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a bottle limit and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone, unless you get lucky and the cap gets raised...which can happen, but you have to be in the Facebook group for the notification) on the PPU website.

Swamp Gloss Indie Polish Always Has Been (3 coats)
Inspiration: It's all Ohio Space Meme
Price: $13.50
Bottle Limit: 500 bottles

I love Swamp Gloss, and I love their branding. Give me more Swampy Sammie. Always Has been is a flakie bomb. It's a holographic flakie base, with metallic and matte flakes and iridescent color-shifting flakes. It has a clear base, so I ended up using three coats for full opacity. That said, I didn't find I needed any base color to cover the nail line (which you can totally do if you want to).  I used a glitter-smoothing topcoat followed by a quick-dry topcoat to give a glassy-smooth finish. I could see this one looking cool with a matte finish, too.

You can find out more about Swamp Gloss on their website, Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok pages.

Starlight Polish Snow Day 2022 (1 coat) over Morgan Taylor Little Black Dress (2 coats)

Snow Day 2022 is a clear based topper with a mix of red and gold shimmer and flakes, meant to add a pop of warmth and sparkle over any color. Of course I used this over a black base so you can see all the extra goodies in this one as best as possible, but it truly can be worn over anything. It had the perfect density of flakes in just one simple coat and you can use regular brush strokes with it instead of having to dab it on. The flakes sit flat against the nail, so one coat of topcoat will easily smooth it all out.

Starlight has a wide variety of polishes and special effect toppers (see my previous posts here) so make sure to check out the store and to start a cart. Don't forget, the sale starts next Tuesday! You can find out more about Starlight and Sparkles on their websiteEtsy pageInstagramFacebook Group, and Facebook page.

Noodles Nail Polish Spring 2021 Collection Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi everyone! It's my birthday!!! No, nothing exciting is going on...I had to work all day and have no other plans, but I do get to see my parents later in the week! It's been a whole 10 months since I've seen them, and it will be so nice to be around someone besides my husband and tiny group of co-workers (no offense to them). If you had asked me last year on my birthday whether or not we'd still be in this position over a year later, I would have said no way. Alas, maybe we're getting just a little closer to the finish line.

Tonight I've got the new 8-piece collection (7 new and 1 throwback release) from Noodles Nail Polish to share with you. It features 6 crellies in various shades and 2 glitter toppers. This set will be available this Friday, April 16th at 6 PM EST on the Noodles website. All polishes will retail for just $9.50 each. This is going to be a picture-heavy post, so we should get going.

Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer Mother's Day 2020 Limited Edition Polish Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! Don't forget, Mother's Day is this Sunday! I know with days running into each other it can be easy to forget important days. Tonight I have the Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer Mother's Day Limited Edition polish to share with you. This one is available now here, and retails for $12 and comes with a free surprise gift with purchase. This one is limited with approximately 200 bottles available until sold out. Shall we get to some more swatches?

Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer Mother's Day Limited Edition 2020 (3 coats)

Those flakes! That squish! This one is a rich purple jelly base with a mix of various multichrome flakes. This one is chock full of flakes, so when applying, you need to make sure none of them push past the free nail edge. I had that happen on a couple nails which happens; I just had to take a finger and tap the edge. This one looks like it would dry with texture, but the flakes laid completely flat and had very minimal texture and smooths out with one coat of topcoat. I used 3 thin coats for full opacity since this one is a jelly. It was easy to remove, too.

This one is available now, and I can't wait to find out what the special surprise is in the fan group. You can find out more about Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer on their websiteFacebook pageFacebook Fan Group, or Instagram pages. Have a great week!

Polish Pickup February 2020 Flora and Fauna: Noodles Nail Polish Feathered Flight

*press sample*

Hi guys! I'm back with this month's Noodles Nail Polish Polish Pickup shade. The inspiration for this month is Flora and Fauna, and my wishlist is a mile long. New to PPU? If so, here's how it works:

Definitely join the Polish Pickup Facebook Group. You don't necessarily need to actively participate in the group, but it will give you a look at the polishes that will be available in the coming month. PPU themes are chosen by the people, often a few months in advance (brands need time to find their inspiration and test their polish). Any indie brand that has been around for at least a year can participate and each has their own specific inspiration picture and polish for that month. All you need to do is go to the Polish Pickup site during the pre-order window (the first Friday-Monday of the month) to make all of your purchases of these exclusive polishes. There's no need to pay for multiple shipping charges; since this is a pre-order, all polishes get sent to Polish Pickup and they send you the polishes you ordered. Yup, it's that simple. Oh, and shipping is a flat-rate of $3 to the US ($5 for Canada and more for international). Recently they also opened a UK site which you can find here. Since all orders are pre-orders, shipping will take place about 3 weeks after the end of the pre-order.

PPU starts Friday, February 7th at 11:00 AM ET and ends on Monday, February 10th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a cap and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone, unless you get lucky and the cap gets raised...which is rare) on the PPU website.

The website is currently open for wishlisting, so go check out this month's offerings STAT. Time for swatches!

Noodles Nail Polish Feathered Flight (3 coats)
Price: $11.50
Cap: US 150/UK 20
Inspiration: A photo of the sun shining through a hummingbird's wings at dusk (see collage above)

OMG, look at those flakes! Feathered Flight is a dark grey crelly base with rainbow iridescent flakes, violet/red/purple/orange color-shifting flakes, copper holo glitters, and a slight scattered holo finish. This one feels like it was made for me. I mean, it's grey with tons of flakes! I ended up using 3 thin coats for my photos, and it applied easily like all my Noodles. It does dry with some texture, so either use a thick topcoat, or perhaps 2 coats of a thin one.

Don't delay on picking this one up, because it has a low cap. Don't forget, you can make multiple orders and they will refund the overage. The website is open right now for wish listing, so make sure to check it out and get your orders in early. What do you think? Which ones are you picking up?

Maker's Dozen November 2019 Wine Labels: NeVerMind Polish Raving Red

*press sample*

Hi guys! I hope things are going well for you. I've been busy as always, but I have a bunch of posts to share with you in the next week. Tonight I have a shade from NeVerMind Polish from the Maker's Dozen group collaboration. This collab is a bit different than others (i.e. Polish Pickup), so give me a few moments to give you an overview. It is indeed a dozen different makers each month with one guest maker each month. It just so happens that this month doesn't have a guest, so it's just the 12. The core brands are as follows: Jior Couture, Sassy Pants Polish, Zombie Claw Polish, PI Colors, Copacetic Cosmetics, Baby Girl Lacquer, LynB Designs, Leesha’s Lacquers, NeVerMind Polish, Alter Ego Nail Enamel, Ms. Sparkle, and Inspurrrations.

There's a different theme each month, and this month is wine labels. Each maker gets a particular color they have to work with every month, and it rotates. For example, if one brand has the color blue in January, then they won't have blue for the next 13 months. They can use any shade or finish as long as they adhere to the core color. Also unlike Polish Pickup, there is no main store from which to shop. Forty bottles of each polish will be available throughout that month in the maker's shop (unless they sell out of those 40 bottles) and any leftovers will be available until they are sold. Tonight I've got NeVerMind Polish's shade to show you, and they had red this month. Shall we get to see some more photos?

NeVerMind Polish Raving Red (3 coats)
Cap: 40 bottles
Price: $10

Raving Red is a warm red crelly base with loads of copper/pink/purple multichrome flakes, and red to orange aurora shimmer. I used 3 thin coats for my photos, but you may be able to get away with 2 if you use thicker coats, or you have short nails. I had no issues with the formula, and it dried with minimal texture because there was no glitter. You can also use a thinner topcoat with this one because of that lack of glitter.

Yet another beautiful flake bomb from NeVerMind Polish! This one will be available on November 1st until the 40 bottles are sold. Make sure to join the Maker's Dozen Facebook Group for more information and swatches from other brands. You can find out more about NeVerMind Polish on their websiteFacebook Fan GroupInstagramTwitter, and Pinterest pages.

Polish Pickup (PPU) June 2019: Weather Phenomenon Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! Polish Pickup (PPU) starts this Friday, and I have 3 shades to share with you tonight. This month's inspiration is weather, and I was curious to see what the maker's would come up with. Just in case this is your first PPU, here's the low-down on what to expect. First, definitely join the Polish Pickup Facebook Group. You don't necessarily need to actively participate in the group, but it will give you a look into the polishes coming in the coming month. Polish Pickup themes are chosen by the people, often a few months in advance (brands need time to find their inspiration and test their polish). Any indie brand that has been around for at least a year can participate and each has their own specific inspiration picture and polish for that month. All you need to do is go to the Polish Pickup site during the pre-order window (the first Friday-Monday of the month) to make all of your purchases of these exclusive polishes. Since all orders are pre-orders, shipping will take place about 3 weeks after the end of the pre-order

PPU starts this Friday, June 7th at 11:00 AM ET and ends on Monday, June 10th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a cap and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it's gone) on the PPU website. Shall we go ahead and get a closer look at these beauties?

Noodles Nail Polish

Underwater Icicles (2 coats)
Price: $12
Cap: None

Up first is Noodles Nail Polish Underwater Icicles which was inspired by brincles, which are underwater icicles that form from the surface and move downward into the ocean. Google it, you'll thank me. This is a vibrant blue jelly with green/blue shifting flakes, silver and blue glitters, and fine silver metallic flakies. The beautiful flakes are the first thing that caught my eye. I was expecting to need 3 coats, but I was impressed with the opacity and it fully covered in just 2. It applied flawlessly, and dried with a little bit of texture from the flakes and glitter. If you want a smooth, glossy finish, you may want to add a second coat of topcoat.

Pepper Pot Polish

A Twister...With Teeth! (3 coats)
Price: $11
Cap: 75/US 5/UK

Mackenzie went out-of-the-box with a polish inspired by Sharknado! I've only seen one of them, but it was very memorable. You guys know how I feel about contrasting shimmers, and this one is a stunner. It's a greige crelly base with contrasting blue shimmer, and ultrachrome flakies. The base is perfectly shark-colored, and the blue just pops. I found the formula to be perfect, although it was a bit sheer. I needed to use 3 heavy coats for the photos above (if you use really thin ones, you may need a fourth). It dried with no texture and was easy to remove.

Starlight Polish

St. Elmo's Fire (2 coats over a black creme)
Price: $15
Cap: 230 bottles

Issa is the queen of shimmer toppers, and this month's inspiration is St. Elmo's Fire which is often seen by sailors and pilots. It's a color-shifting topper with blue to purple UP sibling pigment, blue to purple iridescent glitters, blue to purple translucent flakes, and a touch of silver sparkle. I went with 2 thin coats over black to get the full effect, but you could definitely get away with just 1. It dried quickly and with no texture. This one just glows on the nail and I love it.

The website is open for wishlists now, so fill up that cart. I've been scoping out the website since Sunday, and my list keeps getting longer. Don't forget, the shop opens at 11:00 AM, and some items go quickly. You can find out more about PPU on their Facebook page and website.
