Pure Ice Discontinued Shade: Watermelon Ice

Pure Ice Watermelon Ice (4 coats)

Ugh, I have the stomach flu with a high fever. I didn't want to let anyone down, so I decided to make a quick post.

Since Pure Ice was bought out by Revlon, they are getting rid of some polishes, and bringing out a whole slew of new ones to make up for it. One polish on the chopping block is Watermelon Ice which is a sheer pink shimmer. Yup, 4 coats was used here, and you can still see some visible nail line. Honestly, I'm not too surprised this one is being discontinued. There is no set date on when these will exactly be taken off the shelf, so it will most likely be in early 2013.

China Glaze Spring 2012 Electropop Collection: Gaga for Green

China Glaze Gaga for Green (3 coats)

Last night we went over to our friend's house to play board games, and we ended up playing one called Mansions of Madness which took 4 hours. 4 hours!! Oh, and we lost. We got home at 2 in the morning, which is really late for old folks like us :-D

Since I have been swatching long lost polishes, up next is Gaga for Green which came out this past spring from China Gaze. It's a yellow-based grassy green creme that is very pretty. I did have a bit of an issue with formula. It was thick, and I had pooling of polish in the edges of my nails. This one would definitely need thinner before using.

Don't forget to sign up for my giveaway for a new pair of Pedi-sox! I only have a few signed up, so you have a good chance of winning.

Julep Nail Polish in Morgan

Julep Morgan (2 coats)

Howdy! I had a pretty uneventful Friday night, but we did have our favorite pizza place for dinner. I also happened to have cold pizza for breakfast this morning. Oops! Some people aren't a cold pizza type, but what do you say?

Yup, here's another Julep polish I've had for 6 months. I believe this came from the June 2012 Maven box, and it's a grape purple frost. The frost isn't terrible or streaky which is a bonus. The formula was just ok due to it being a little thick. I know Morgan is a unisex name, but I always think of Agent Morgan (ok, that's his last name, but you get the point) on Criminal Minds which is one of my favorite shows (my favorite characters being Hotch and Dr. Spencer Reid).

Essence Colour & Go: Date in the Moonlight

Essence Date in the Moonlight (2 coats)

Wow, it's Thursday already. I can't believe how this week has flown by. I can't think of any weekend plans that we have, but then again, I'll be heading to Charlotte on Sunday with my labmate, Liz. Liz is the best.

Since I've really had to limit my polish spending lately, you've probably noticed that I've been showing a few rather inexpensive polishes recently. Even the more expensive ones were with coupons. I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up with some of the new collections that have come out, but hopefully you've seen some Pure Ice or Sinful Colors that whet your appetite. Another budget brand I love is Essence out of Germany, and since revamping their bottles, they released some really nice new colors. Tonight I have Date in the Moonlight which is a dark navy color with light blue shimmer. Unfortunately, unless you're all up on me, you won't be able to see the beautiful shimmer in it. It's still a nice winter color though. As you can see, I'm still a bit of a mess when trying to use their new brushes, but I'm working on it. This one was opaque in 2 coats as well.

Julep Nail Polish in January

Julep January (2 coats)

What's happening hot stuff? I know, I feel like I've been slacking a little on my daily life updates. Honestly it's been just working and doing paperwork. The story of my life. I will be going down to Charlotte this weekend to sample some wells, so that should be interesting. I've only sampled them in Cambodia, so it will be interesting to see how we do it in the US. Apparently some areas in North Carolina have high manganese in well water. So high, in fact, that it can be an issue for children and the elderly. The more you know...

Anyway, I've had this polish for almost a year, and I don't know why I didn't swatch it. January is your run of the mill tomato red creme with some jelly qualities to it. It's fine, but not exciting. You can probably find a much cheaper alternative at your local drugstore. I'm assuming it's named after January Jones, and boy is she a bad actress. I tried to get into Mad Men, but as soon as Don went to California in season 2 (?) I was done with the show. Maybe it got better, but I don't think I'm going to give it another chance.
