California Lovin' Indies Duo April 2019 featuring Static Lacquer and Moonshine Mani

Hi guys! I'm really loving these short work weeks, so I'm going to be very disappointed next week. Tonight I've got the next installment of the California Lovin' Indies Collaboration box where Stacy from Static Lacquer works with other indie brands in the great state of California. I've noticed how many brands come from California, so I think this is a wonderful way for brands to join forces. This month features Phoebe from Moonshine Mani and her popular YouTube channel. The duo goes on pre-order Friday, April 19th at 8 AM PST through Monday, April 22nd at 11:59 PM PST in the Static Lacquer website. The duo will retail for $22 + shipping and will also include a holo vinyl sticker and a 4-piece set of magnets (shown below). 

Stacy and Phoebe took inspiration from the blooming poppy field reserve in Antelope Valley. They discovered in their talking of inspiration that they actually lived in the same place just at different times in California. It's such a small world, isn't it?

The California state flower is the poppy, and I've been lucky enough to visit the state many times to enjoy these beauties. I grew up used to the red poppies, and was pleasantly surprised at the orange variety in California. Did you know that there are over 120 different varieties of poppies? Antelope Valley Reserve contains over 1700-acres of land and is part of the Mojave Desert. Has anyone been there? 

MAGNETS!

Each duo purchased will come with 4 mini magnet cabochons painted with the 2 polishes (2 of each kind). They are smaller than a penny, and perfect for your Helmer or refrigerator. 

 Moonshine Mani Antelope Valley Gold (3 coats)

Up first from Moonshine Mani is Antelope Valley Gold which is an orange jelly base with gold shimmer and orange/yellow/green iridescent flakies and red/bronze/copper ucc flakies. It fully covered in 3 thin coats since it's a jelly, and it had a perfect formula. If you use thicker coats, you may be able to get away with 2 coats. It dried to a semi-glossy finish with no discernible texture. I love orange, so I knew this duo was going to be right up my alley. 

Static Lacquer Poppy Fields (2 coats)

I love a good white crelly polish, and Stacy gave us a beauty. Poppy Fields is a white crelly base with different sizes of orange and green hexagonal holo glitter. I'm used to polishes like this needing 3 coats, but this one was very opaque and needed just 2 of them. It dried with a satin finish with minimal texture despite the abundance of glitter.

California Lovin Indies Jan. 2019 The Horsetail Falls: Static Lacquer and Necessary Evil Polish

Tonight I've got the next installment of the California Lovin Indies Collaboration box where Stacy from Static Lacquer works with other indie brands in the great state of California. I've noticed how many brands come from California, so I think this is a wonderful way for brands to join forces. This month features Tamara from Necessary Evil Polish. The duo goes on pre-order Monday (Jan. 7th) at 8 AM PST through Jan. 14th at 11:59 PM PST in the Static Lacquer website. This month's inspiration is a phenomenon that happens for one week out of the year, usually the first week of February, in Yosemite National Park. For this week, as the sun rises, Horsetail Falls catches fire. At least that's what the sun causes it to look like.

I had no idea this happened, and I'm so jealous of anyone able to see this! Apparently conditions have to be perfect for it to glow (and it only occurs for about 10 minutes), but imagine how amazing it would be to see and photograph it. The box will be $20 + shipping for the duo, and it will include a holographic Helmer decal. Since this is a pre-order, items will begin shipping 2-3 weeks after the pre-order ends. California Lovin' Oct. 2018 Indie Duo Collaboration: Static Lacquer and Fanchromatic Nails

Hi guys! I just got home from Dallas, and I was shocked to find that we brought fall with us. It was in the 70s which is relatively cool for this time of year. Tonight I've got the next installment of the California Lovin' Collaboration box where Stacy from Static Lacquer works with other indie brands in the great state of California. I've noticed how many brands come from California, so I think this is a wonderful way for brands to join forces. This month features Lynae from Fanchromatic Nails. The duo goes on pre-order tomorrow (Oct. 1st) at 8 AM PST through October 5th at 11:59 PM PST in the Static Lacquer website. This month's inspiration is the Winchester Mystery House located in San Jose, California. This crazy house built by Sarah Winchester has many oddities, such as stairs that lead straight up into the ceiling, doors that let out on the second floor to open air, and, of course, secret corridors. The duo will retail for $20 with $4 shipping and will include a large California Lovin' Indies vinyl sticker. Ok, enough chatting, let's see some swatches! 

Fanchromatic Nails Secret Corridors (2 coats)

Up first is Secret Corridors from Fanchromatic Nails which is a turquoise crelly base with iridescent flakes, purple/green UCC flakes, and blue shimmer. It dries with the tiniest amount of streaks, so just don't overwork the second coat and float it on. It dried with a satin finish and applied perfectly in just 2 coats. 

Static Lacquer Doors to Nowhere (3 coats)

Next we have fall in a bottle. Doors to Nowhere is the Static Lacquer's contribution and it's a reddish brown jelly base with silver holo flakes, and a mix of several different colors of UCC flakes. Stacy was inspired by the stained glass windows in the Winchester House photo above. Since it's a jelly, a third coat was needed, but it also added a nice depth to the abundance of flakes in there. I had no issue with flakes sticking up, and the polish had a perfect consistency. It dried with a tiny bit of texture that completely smoothed out with a coat of topcoat. 

There you have it! This is the perfect fall duo, and if you live in California, you'll love it for the Winchester association (side note: apparently there was a movie released this year inspired by the house with Helen Mirren in it. I will definitely watch it if it gets released on Netflix or HBO). Both polishes are beautiful, but I'm a sucker for flakies, so I'm more drawn to Doors to Nowhere. For just $24 shipped, you get 2 interesting polishes with a professional vinyl sticker. Again, these go on pre-order tomorrow at 8 AM PST through 11:59 PM PST on Oct. 5th. California Lovin' July 2018 Indie Duo Collaboration: Mace Polish and 1850 Artisan Polish

Hi guys! This week has me all messed up. I swear that today is Sunday and not Thursday. I received 2 days off for the 4th, and was a much needed break. Tonight I have a special new collaboration from Stacy at Mace Polish (soon to be Static Lacquer). The California Lovin' set will be available bi-monthly (every other month, not twice a month) and will feature Mace Polish/Static Lacquer with a different special guest brand from the great state of California. The duos will be $20 + shipping in the Static Lacquer website. 

This month's guest is 1850 Artisan Polish which is a brand that has been on my radar since they started back in January. After trying them here for the first time, this won't be my last! The inspiration for this month's duo is a photo of the Painted Ladies of San Francisco at sunset. To be honest, I had to Google it 😬 I felt so foolish after I did so.

They are amazing pieces of architecture and full of color. The duo is available now for pre-order through Tuesday, July 10th at 11:59 PM PST.
